How do I change an mp3 file to a midi. I can get mp3 ringtones on the internet but I do not know how to make them midi so I can use them on my phone.

While there ARE mp3 to midi converters, they are all terrible and you probably shouldn't use one. Instead, you should just find a midi file of the song you want. (Searching Google usually works.)

Hey vanillaprice,
email me (ciphan[at]gmail.com) with what song you want as a ringtone and I'll see if I can get you a link from a WAP site for you to download it.

I tried e-mailing an mp3 (extension renamed to *.mid) on my recently bought Audiovox 8910, but the phone wouldn't except it, saying it was an unsupported file format. I was able to put these mp3's (extension renamed to *.mid) on my LG VX7000 and they work just fine.

Is there a certain mp3 bitrate or file size the Audiovox 8910 can only handle? On my LG VX 7000, I do 32-48 kbps and make sure the file size is below 350kb.

[EDIT]Ouch, i see my problem, my LG VX 7000 can handle higher bitrate mp3's, the Audiovox 8910 is choking on anything above 32-48kbps.[/EDIT]

went to the command promptand can type in help and it brings up a list but if I do help.ren it says I can not do that. any ideas.

The 8910 can take MP3s...I put 4 in mine last night. All you have to do is rename the file extension on your MP3 to mid, upload it to some WAP download service, and then download in the usual way.
Renaming it to mid confuses the uploader and phone into thinking it's a regular ringtone, yet the phone will play it back as an MP3 and do so very well too. One other thing:
my 8910 only accepts MP3s with a bitrate of 32 and a frequency of 22050.

Another thing: the 8910 won't accept files larger than 70kb.

I have loaded mp3 ringers I made at 64kbps and up to 242kb in size on my Verizon 8910 using Bitpim.

Yeah, thanks for the heads, up. But I'm not too sure about the file size limitation. I e-mailed myself a 32 kbps MP3 that is 113KB and it was fine.

hey i use sound editing software to extract clips from mp3 files-- AV Music Morpher Gold (download free version at http://www.audio4fun.com/)

Use the editor mode in Music Morpher to cut a 20-second portion (about the maximum length of a ringotne) of any mp3 file, and then make sure you save your clip as an mp3 file (not .wav).

i use Bitpim to upload the clips onto my 8910. they take up a lot of space on the phone, but they make awesome ringtones.

What I meant was I can only manage smaller than 70k MP3s via the browser.
