If your phone doesn't turn on, or even powers on for half a second and then keeps going through a power cycle by itself, your phone has a corrupt flash.

This CAN be fixed though. You must take the phone and put it into bootloader mode. It varies on each phone how you do it, but holding * and # and then power is the most common way. If your phone wont even power on, then it may take some time to get it to turn on. Took me 3 days once. I did find that by plugging it into the USB port while attempting bootloader helped later on speed that process up.

Now your phone is on in flash interface. You should plug it in and your phone should be attached as a Neptune Flash Interface (or whatever type of phone yours is).

You will then need to use a moster flash to recover it. A monster flash is a flash that includes both a flash file and a flex. These are fairly common. I have no links but there are some on my fserv in the irc channel in my sig.

Make sure you find an unlocked one. I don't know all of the possible locked/unlocked ones, so that's up to you.

Some people have managed to flash their phone and flex it seperatly using the flash interface and the se....f9.shx flex, but I haven't had any luck with that.

Flash using MultiFlashFlex.exe included with PST, and your good to go.

Unless I missed something, I probably wont help you recover your phone. This DOES work, I've tested it several times with several phones using several flashes to mess them up.

I have tried numerous times flashing with a monster pack after setting the phone into boot loader mode. It just won't work for me. I guess I screwed it up pretty bad. :sigh:

Reading through your problem, don't worry. If you can get it into bootloader, you CAN recover it, it just may take a while.

Only panic when you can't get it into bootloader. But even then, not all is lost unless you flashed to 55R or something and it screwed up during the writing of the new bootloader.

i have a v180 and none of the v600 or v300 monster packs (or individual flashes) work. it just says "flash FAILED!!!" each time.

anyone have v180 flash files?

I do manage to get into flash mode but the phone only allow me
to use MSS to flash. And even through it said flash sucessfully
after each flashed. The phone still wont boot. And if I try using
multiflash it will give me flash failed!!! error message. Anyone
have a similar problem before or know how I can get this fix.

PS, when I flashing with MSS, it did show the screen SW is loading
so I know the phone is not completely dead, just can't seem to
flash it properly????

flash interface driver being? im having the same issue with my v300 got a bad flash while trying to install v600 sw, all during the flash it looks good, phone says SW upgrade in progress, but when its done i still get nothing, phone will not turn on, can only get to bootloader .

I flexed the phone with SE7495AXXH1082.

Then, I flashed the phone with R372_G_0E.20.98R

V3, then, became a dead phone.

I tried to push * and #, then the power button. Nothing.

Oh boy, am I in deep trouble....

Maybe this will help.. as Rxx notes about version of soft, you should try newer version - because previous install does not rewrite bootloader soft so after you flash newer version you can't go back (except you do some hacks i guess). BTW - this is an explanation i have read on forums, i didn't try this things.

Finally!

I push the buttons "*" and "#", then the power button.....but WITHOUT attaching the USB cable to the cell phone and my computer.

It works!!!! So, I guess for V3 users, use the recovery procedure on the V3 cell phone by itself....meaning, do not attach the USB cable to it.........I was trying to load up the bootloader while connected to the USB cable to the computer......

I got some to add...

After being on the phone with my V80 and it just turned off on me and only thing that would happen after that was the red status light would stay on, I thought my phone was dead, I read your write up and it gave me hope...

I tried the *+#+PowerOn for about two days, no ding...so I opened the phone up, disconnected the SCREEN, disconnected the Camera to check if anything was broken/Water Damaged and nothing was.

When I re-connected everything came to try your method again the phone powered on. So there is a idea for you people out there....

Hopefully this note will help someone tossing what "appears" to be a dead phone, e.g., one that does not "appear" to power up and/o does not light up the keypad when the "power" + "*" + "#" boot combination is used . . .

When you use this boot combination (at least on my V525 previously flashed to 55R) THE PHONE MAY VISUALLY APPEAR TO STILL BE DEAD (NO SOUND AND NO LIGHTED SCREEN OR NO KEYPAD FLASHING) EVEN WHEN THE BOOT IS ACTUALLY SUCCEEDED.

You will only be able to detect that the phone has booted by connecting the data cable to your PC and Vxxx, and then running a program such as "MultiFlashFlex" or "MSS" -- these programs should indicate that they have connected to the Neptune flash bootloader for various Vxxx models.

Also, if you have previously installed the 55R flash, you will apparently have to reinstall the same version and no other release (most likely someone tried to flash over an installed 55R flash with another release and that is what killed the phone in the first place). You most likely (as I did) have to use the MSS application to perform a full flash and flex after the application erases the existing bad flash.

That's not true. You can use 58R on a triplets phone if you've flashed to 55R. And 58R is a PST flash, including a monster flash

i tried flashing the 58R

only difference i see is that this time.. instead of the light coming on for 1 second the screen does come on, but it says lit white and nothing happens.

that is as close as i've gotten to getting it to turn on normally.

Here's my problem:

my phone is a unlocked v525, Vodaphone Branded.
Then I flashed+flexed it to v600 - still worked OK.
Then I flashed it to V3 - after this the phone died.

Now,
I'm able to get into bootloader:
Version 07.60.
Then the screen says the SW version is Unknown, or sometime Code Corrupt - depends which moster file I use for flash.

The multiflashflex recognizes it as S Neptune Flash LTE.
The MSS recognizes it as Motorola p2k..something.

So I'm trying all kind of monster flesh (vf3,shx) and no luck.
After Successfull flash thre's a log like "File version v 0xB09 for Code Group 1 is the same as Subscriber Unit version v 0xB09
" or sometime there's no error logged at all. The phone just does not start - only blinks at its best.

Yes I also tried the:
triplets_g_0b_09_55r_lang002f_full_flash.vf3
TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.

58R_LP0039_JPJAVA_G_0B_TRIPLET_08_01R_SE7400AXXXX1
C9_1FF.shx

I searched all sources here and there. I just can't get it fixed.
Any suggestion ?

do what i did...

go to tmobile, say you charged it last night, went to go turn it on and now it doesn't turn on. do it at the store, the guy will try a different battery, when that doesn't work he'll replace the phone for you.

Greetings,
I've only had my E398 for a week now. So far, installing apps and everything on it has worked fine. Today, I tried installing some themes/skins on it. The first one went ok. However, after installing the second one, my phone can no longer start up. It comes on to the HelloMoto screen after which the backlight goes off, the screen turns white and it then switches off.

I read elsewhere about holding down the *, # and power 'On' keys together. The problem is, my battery was almost dead when this happened. Thus, this method does not work (I get the message "Battery Low Cannot Program"). Now I cannot even charge the unit; whenever I connect the charger, the phone comes on and the white screen just starts blinking on and off.

I would really appreciate it if someone could please shed some light on my quandry. Also, does anyone know whether any model, other than the E398, would allow me to put my battery in to charge?

THey can charge the phone and a spare battery.

Hey all,
Well I killed my V300 with a bad seem edit. So now that I'm trying to install a monster file on it, "MultiFlashFlex" comes up with the error: cannot load flash tool. So when it get my V300 all ready to go the error of :application not initialized (flash tool/super file).
My question what am I missing? How can i get this to work so that my lovely moto doesn't lay useless? Thankx all for any help!

Please don't you have another solution? I have the same problem but the phone is older then 1 year so no warranty...

Its there a way to get rid of that triplet, dawm thing does not let U upgrade to 9.72!!! I try putting a monster flash from cingular but no luck

This is exactly what I have run into with my V635, it appears to start up the boot loader but nothing on the screen, etc.

The problem is the phone seems to die and reboot after a few seconds because PST can never successfully force another flash to it.

Looks like I've just created a $400 paper weight.

OK, got my phone working again, I'll leave a note for other V635 owners who kill their phone and might look to this sticky for guidance.

After flashing the V635 it seems that some combination of putting it on the AC adapter and removing/re-inserting the T-flash wakes the phone up.

I put my phone on AC, re-inserted the T-flash and used the "*" "#" and pressing/releasing power button to load the boot loader and voila the phone came back up.

Hi,

My V3 battery just died and I'm on the road so I didn't get my AC charger with me, when I plugged in the usb cable to the phone the keypad just blinks every few seconds but the power doesn't come on.

Removing the battery for a few minutes made no difference, as soon as I insert the battery in again, the phone starts power-cycling again. Holding down "*" and "#" doesn't bring the bootloader up or keep the power switched on (the keypad just keeps blinking every few seconds with the time between power-cycles increasing)

I didn't flash/flex or do anything other than uploading ringtones to the phone, so this is EXTREMELY weird.

Any ideas? Could it just be because the battery is out of juice or is the flash corrupt and should I just return the phone and get a replacement?

my V80 freezes all the time, and I can rarely get it to turn on. Most of the time the keys will just light up, stay lit for about 20seconds then turn off.

I've been thinking of flashing it to a newer version, is this right?
Can i just use a flash, or do i have to flash and flex it?

I have bought a V180 today. It's unlocked, came from Spain.
Reading this thread it came to my mind something: how can I make a backup of my flash?

I mean, if this (a dead phone) happens so often, why not make a backup of the firmware of the phone?

Is there a software that can READ the flash?

sorry guys, but im another n00b whos buggered their phone.. can someone help.

I got a V500.. flexed it to a V600.. everything was great. But then I got greedy, - I saw this: http://xlr8.us/hofo/map.txt - it mentioned a VideoCamera. So I edited my mma_dcp file to change what I had on my smartkey from 'ACalculator' to 'AVideoCamera'. - And of course, this didn't work.
When booting up, the keys will light up and it will display the bootscreen, (but not animated like before) it will also vibrate (I had it set to vibrate before the problem), but and thats it. It just sits there with the bootup image.

I struggled to get it into bootloader mode, * and # then power didnt seem to work, however it did once, dunno how though. So I tried to reflash it with TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.4FR_reflash.shx because that was the only flash I had laying around. but that didnt seem to help. I then read that I need a monsterpack, so I went and downloaded TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.1DR_A1_LP0039_JPG_0B_TRIPLET_04_0 5R_SE6403AXXB30F3_1FF.shx but now I cannot get MultiFlashFlex to detect the phone at all.

How do i know if the phone is actually in bootloader mode? when pressing * and # then power, I get no lights, nothing on screen etc.
Sometimes windows tells me a usb device has melfunctioned, but then that error message disappears.

please, is there anyway I can save my phone?

i Have an dead v300 now

I tried to delete some images to get more free space and i deleted system icons. Trying to fix the problem i flashed with an v600 flash, but now my v300 is totally crazy.

How can i repair my v300?

Something I'd like to add that would help n00bs like me.

If your phone turns on and off every minute or so, try press the 3 magic buttons while the keyboard is lit up (you have a second or two). Make sure it is connected via usb to your computer.

If your phone is cycling on and off, don't assume that it is messed up. Charging the battery before you get all upset.

Those are two simple things but they might help.

Or just remove the battery and then push the 3 buttons, either way. Pretty much the best thing to do is to just keep playing with it.

The "*" + "#" + "pwr" does not seem to work for the V60g. I see a see "M" logo. However, when I plug it into the computer it is recognized as USB Modem.

I'm trying to determine whether or not (or if it is even possible) to take my seemingly dead v635 into a store to get it smart clipped, but my main problem is that it seems beyond recovery as far as the bootloader goes. When I plug in my fone it is listed as an "S Blank Neptune" If I try to flash then I receive the error

ERROR: Phone[0000]: ERROR: The superfile selected is for reflash. You must use a rom superfile with blank Subscriber Units.

So am I right in assuming that the bootloader has been erased as well as it having a bad flash? Should I keep playing with it or take it to a store?

I've done a fair amount of searching and as far as I can see I need a superfile but I cannot find these. Is this due to my mediocre searching skills or does the file likely not exist for the v635?

I appreciate any help.

I just got a v3 off ebay yesterday, and it was working fine, until it fell out of my shirt pocket droped about 3 feet and hit a concrete floor, the battery cover came off but did'nt seem to hurt the phone. 30 min. later I noticed that it was constantly powering on and off, and after removing the battery the keypad just flashed.... now I can get it to turn on but the power button wont respond after it powers up. Some body help me please....!

Help! I was guided to this forum from another user after I posted my dilemma.
In a nutshell, my V635 won't boot up. Suddenly yesterday, it got low on power and turned off. I can't seem to wake it up!!! I have 2 fully charged batteries and neither of them will work. I've read and tried everything.
I've tried the USB cable and # + * and power but nothing. I"ve tried popping out and in my Trans card. Nothing. All I need is this girl's number off my phone and I'll be happy!!!! But I can't.

Any thoughts?

I should point out that a month ago it got a bit wet from the ocean and I dried everything out. It was working with some minor glitches but I've never seen it this dead!! When I plug it into the AC, i doesn't even BEEP!!!!

First off, I don't send have private messages enabled. Why? Because people would keep PMing me to help them fix their ringtone problem. And frankly I don't care about if someone's phone plays some half-*** rap song.

If it's yellow, that means you haven't installed the driver for it. So go do that.

it's very likely that the salt water (even after you dried it, the salt still remained) slowly corroded the parts inside your phone to the point where they are useless. Unless you backed the phonebook up onto the sim card, you're SOL.

My V635 is dead after i followed the motorola flashing & flexing guide for the V600 thinking it would work for a v635. but of course it didn't. I can't even access the bootloader and i dont really wanna risk screwing up my connecting cable. Is there any other way to fix my phone.

i'm in the same boat you're in buddy. Anything happen? Did you somehow fix it? What flash did you flash it with?

I tried .6CR and now it will not turn back on. I've tried pulling the Tflash in then putting it back, i've tried plugging it into the battery, i've tried it all, but doing some vodoo dance around it. Nothing like a $300 POS.

weird, my friend's e398 won't come out of bootloader. stil r372 95r.

i tried to upgrade to i398 but i forgot the preflex. just started with the flash.

bootloader is stil 07.d0, and it won't go past bootloader screen. i don't even have to push three buttons to get in. normal startup does the trick

is there a way to flex from bootloader?

tried the 95r mp, didn't work

My multi flex doesn't work i use pst 7.1.1 i get this error:

Does any one solve the # * PWR problem? what can be done? I have a dead v600, when i tried the 3 keys the phone starts in a white screen and my pc can't detect it. Any advice?

I've read every friggen' post here and frankly, It pisses me off to see people take advantage of the good nature of others and their tallents to modding. So here's my two cents.

Number one...If you are flashing or flexing your daily use phone...and you have no backup...I feel sorry for you. you're taking this risk, so accept the consequences and quit your complaining...

Number two...If you messed up your daily use phone because you flashed and flexed it...and you have no backup or safty net...you're an idiot

hello i flexed my v3 with the v3 flex of big daddy that leaves you 7mb free well the phone start but i have a black screen and i only have the upper bar that tells you the signal and the battery i can make calls but i cannot see anything

are you talking about the v3 flex for triplets phones or for non triplets phones? I believe there are two different flexes roaming around. one is to make Vxxx series phones in the likeness of the v3's. the other is specifically for v3's. Check which one you have.

Is there any way to wake up a dead V635 that was reflashed with the wrong reflash version?

For example: Running 24R but was flashed/flexed with a reflash file of 88R (not a monster pack).

I have been flash/ flexing phones for a little over a year now and i have come across a problem that i think alot of people have been having that needs to be addressed and solved. When someone monster flashes a phone with a newer phone model flash it upgrades the bootloader system. If this flash is not compatable with the current phone the phone is pronounced "dead." But this is a special case than what all the "Revive your Dead Motorola" forums cover. In this case you have edited the bootloader section of your phone and therefore need to repair that as well. Monster flashes will not even work (assuming you can connect the phone to the computer in the first place) because they will not write an old boot loader over a newer one, If anyone has solved this problem post it here. LETS GET THIS PROBLEM SOLVED SO EVERYONE CAN REVIVE THERE DEAD MOTOROLA.

Even though I'm in the same situation with one of my backups (but It really doesn't matter to me at this point anymore) I totally agree with the above said. But, I don't think it is possible to "edit" the bootloader. I read somewhere that you can view different partitions on your phone (in a v3 forum) with some p2k program...maybe that can do it? I feel all of your frustration...i really do. I'll try to see what I can come up with and let you all know.

I am working with a v600 that i (before i knew what i was doing) flashed to a v3 flash... i later thought about it and realised that the physical buttons don't match in the first place so it will never work. I couldn't even turn on the phone ... after much research i found a prog called bootldr this is awesome it is great for reviving phones take one phone make a backup and then put it on the dead phone... well i hapen to have 2 diffrent v600's the one i backed up when you go into bootloader on the phone with the *# pwr it showed the dos looking screen thee other showed a blank almost white screen. At this time i determined that there are two diffrent... ?operating systems? or something like that.Even using smartmoto backup and rewrite of the bootloader it still wont power on corectly ... What i need is something similar to bootldr ... but that can run shx file. Don't know if this is just tmi or this will help some... at least save you some time, a day or two, let me know if you need me to test anything software is aboundant here so don't go find something and download it if it is not needed. Thanks all.

What i think you are asking is how to downgrade the boot loader ... e.g. put an older bootloader on a phone.(if i miss understood let me know) Downgrading the bootloader system is appearing to be a fairly hard task. One way to do it is with a smart clip ... have to buy it too have not found a crack for it anywhere (US $250), unless you can find something called a JTAG editor. And let me know if you find that. Sorry i could not be of more help but i have been searching for the same thing for a couple of months now ... Good Luck

Hey i found a cracked version of Smart-Clip it is Smart clip tool and all the smart moto components work on it ... eg JTAG editing ... reloading your bad boot sector. Not sure on how Cracked verson downloads work on this server some let me know if i will get in trouble for posting but until then pm me and i will get it to you.

Right i'm from the UK and last night I attempted to flash my Razr v3, and guess what I messed it up.

Whilst flashing, everything seemed to be going just dandy no problems at all and the flash finished successfully. The phone turned off after like it should but when i attempted to turn it back on, the keypad turned blue and was responding but the screen was still blank. I then attatched the USB cable to the phone so that it might show wether it was working or not, however i recieved a small message in a bubble at the bottom right of my screen saying "USB Device connected to this PC has malfunctioned."

I then tried to go into bootloader mode by pressing the power # and * buttons at the same time, again the keypad responded but the screen stayed blank and again i tried to go into multifashflex to see if the phone was in bootloader mode. But to no avail the same malfunctioning message appeared.

What am I doing wrong? Or at least how can I fix this phone?

Someone here recommended Smartmoto ( I was getting nowhre with PST, & P2k, & damn if that didn't do it on the first try!)
So, this is easy, right? I buy another one that won't power up - hit * & # & pwr. & ungats, 3 days of ungats ( anybody know how to spell that?).
Smartmoto can't find the phone ID - it gives me info on the V400, but I can't flash it ( using the PC Flash , anyway).
Any ideas?

Travylad It sounds to me like you but an invalid flash onto your Razr ... Luckly for you there are several ways to fix what you have done to your razr seeing as they are fairly new. I am assuming that you made no backups of your original before you flashed your phone or else you would not have posted this problem. What you need to do is aquire a copy of Ramldr (easy to find) and either another V-3 phone or the backup files that someone has for a v-3 phone and restore your phone using that. It's not an increbably easy task but you have to have some brains if you plan on flashing a phone in the first place ... If you need some additional information don't hesitate to ask

nikon101 been in similar situation as long as your bootloader sector has not been upgraded then you can still fix it. What you may need is the same as that other guy ... get ramldr or use your smartmoto tool to back up a working v400 and try puting the restore on to your phone. If that doesn't work then you might have changed your bootloader and that is a whole new ballfield

it could be your PDS,

make a backup of your PDS using RamLdr
then write a flash from a phone that works(on the main one the 1000000 write) and then write your pds file onto the phone ... if your screen is still screwed up you may just have a flex cable issue ... EXTREMLY easy to fix but i know at my store we charge anywhere from $30-$120 just to reconnect it.

My V635 appears to be completely finished.

I attempted to flash it, and it never finished, it gave me an error. It told me to manually power on the phone, but it wouldn't. I removed the battery, the screen shut off, and now it hasn't powered on since.

I can't get into the boot loader, and my PC no longer recognizes it. It says "USB Device Not Recognized". It cannot be seen by PST or RSD Lite.

Is it truly dead?

When my V635 Died it wouldn't enter the bootloader after a bad flex.
the # * PWR thing didn't work

I found that if you connect prongs 13 + 14 (from the left looking at the datacable from the top side) on the datacable, it should force the phone to enter the bootloader. I did this by applying a little bit of solder between the two points. Didn't see this mentioned in this thread but ive seen it else where here on Hofo

I was unlocking my phone with the "unlock yourself method", and it works for me (I had this flash R47_G_08.17.0FR_01).

however, the keypad didnt work. So, I read that if you upgrade your phone whith another monsterpack you can solve the problem.

So, I used flashbackup for flashing my phone with another backup that I made before, but it was from a different flash that I had (R472_G_08.18.40R). So, I chose the option BACKUP FROM YOUR PHONE, because I thought It will be the same PDS file, but not. my phone died. I couldn't flash it with another monsterpack because (I used multiflash/flex) it says null pointer I/O.
Then I tried to repair my phone with the RepStudio_Demo. It seems all work fine, it told me some errors about bootloader, and something else; but the program erase succesfully the flash. Then it tell me that I should press the * and # buttons and press the program button OK. I did it, but it told me error restarting the phone.
Thats it, this program doesnt recognize my phone nor flashbackup.

It can be saved?

My V635 seems to be dead.
It's dead when I have tryied to change startup images/sound with motokit.
Now when I try to poweron the phone it seems to start for 1 sec but then it hangs on startup screen.

I'm tryied to access boot loader with * # + poweron button but no things happen.

Can you try to connect the phone with computer when MFF is running?
I hope you can see "Connected" and Neuptune Black in MFF.
Then, run Moto repair Studio to create Bootloader and re-flash with Full backup from your phone!

im sorry, i did post this earlier, since i didnt know where to post it. here is it anyway:

hi. i did a lot of things trying to get my phone working again. First, it wont even boot up. (i flashed from .58r to 72, then sadly i uploaded a corrupted PDS and the phone wont enter in BootLoader mode) Even the bootloader version reported was 0v00ffff.

i ended with doing a full backup of another V600 phone with ramldr and load it on my phone. Soo far soo good, the phone now at least enter in BL mode.

But, i dont have anymore the PDS backup of it. I have the PDS backup of the other V600 phone.

How can i make the phone works again?

I'm getting this same problem. Last night, my usb hub decided to die on me while i was restoring one of my 32mb back-ups " all i said was OUCH!!!!!

Now, im trying to get passed the error message that "lostsoul86" is getting plus i get this message after i click on yes " Error Getting Subscriber Unit Information " then gives me an error code of " 0xE0030008 ". I'm trying to figure this out but if someone figures it before me please shed the light.

P.S. I've tried Flashbackup but it hangs trying to send the loader.

If you're just looking for the stock moto skin, and no one can help, make a google search .. you'll find it.

But, if the phone has a blank menu (phone is alive but no menus or skin), I believe you could flash the phone with a flexlash from motox.us .. you will get the menu screen back

But I doubt it works, because of the stuff I've read on this thread, I'm supposing I'll need to use smartclip or testpoint solutions in order to downgrade the boot loader version to the v180 original.

If I flash a full monster flash for v180 using MultiFlashFlex or FlashBackup they just flash fine but phone continues to be the same SW Version adn the Same BootLoader, also, it continues to boot into Flashmode Directly (without pressing: * # PWR)

Anyone can point me in the right direction? this is very confusing already...

v180 half solved.
I almost solved the v180 problem, I used FlashBackup and Moto Repair (all links are in the thread) First I used the Repair option of the Moto Repair application, then used flashbackup to flash a Full monster flash for the v180, then unlocked the phone with the flashBackup application

All worked very nice, now there is a remaining problem.

The cursor keys has stopped working on the phone, very strange, the phone can make and receive calls, the Menu key works perfectly, but the cursor keys won't work

It means you can't navigate through teh options in the menu, etc.

if you killed your e398 is probably because you flashed it with a wrong monster pack, you will probably need to repair it PDS and then flash it again with the proper monster pack for your model there is a link posted on this thread for the Moto Repair Studio, it will repair your PDS (if your phone is supported), then go to flashbackup and (first) backup your PDS and then reflash your phone with the appropiate monsterpack, then, be sure to Backup your phone this time to a safe place if you are going to continue playing with it.

Ok, I saw Moto repair studio and got too excited..lol. I tried the repair thing-the software succeeded in deleting all my phone's data, but now I can't get it into bootloader. Any suggestions? The box came up after it was done to flash it with the correct flash or whatever, but I thought I was supposed to use multiflashflex to do this, so I disconnected it. Now, the only sign of life is if I take the battery out for 2 minutes, put it back in and then the screen will flash, but that's about all. This phone is a pain in the arse...I'm glad I have my razr, but i'm trying to fix and sell this 400.

Alright...this is my last stab at fixing this crap phone. If this don't work, i'm parting out the good stuff on e bay.

Ok, here's my problem.

I can flash with a PDS backup, a full ramldr backup, moto repar software, mff, and NOTHING has brought this 400 back to life. It gets so close sometimes, but just won't turn on all the way. What's the deal? i've erased all memory blocks then flashed with 10 different flashes...nothing has worked. Any Ideas?

My E550 (same as V550, R376) is dead after a reflashing. During power-on nothing on the display, only 3 seconds black, 3 seconds dark grey, and thats repeating, the PC can't detects the phone. * # power-on partly works, Bootloader screen not visible, PST shows under Platform type: Secure Reflash Neptune LTE. Accordingly the phone is in Flash mode. Tryin' everything:
#1: Restore the Full/Bootloader/PDS backup with FlashBackup, looks like successful, but no effect.
#2: RepStudio says: "Connected / Phone found / Flash mode ok / Exec loader failed / Erasing phone, please wait... / Erase fail", and after about 20 mins: "Exec loader failed / Shutting down phone / Not connected". No effect too.
#3: FlashBackup Flasher done its job without any errors, even use many monster packs, no effect.
#4: PST, MFF don't work. Detects the phone as I write above, but fails with "**** Flash FAILED!!! ****" immediately after "Create Image File" and "Loading RAM Downloader for Bootloader".
No more idea, hope somebody help me. Looks like this is the similar problem as cKyMeebs'.

1. connect your phone to your computer through MultiFlashFlex
2. you should press * + # to put phone into bootloader-should see S Flash Neptune as a device
3. Flash your phone with this first to fix the bootloader:

4. repeat steps 1 & 2 (restart phone, basically)
5. Flash with this file using MFF:

I followed these steps and my phone was amazingly alive again. Don't know what phones other than 500's 505's or 400's this will work on.

Hello,

Please make sure you have BL07.D0 or below when trying to revive a 'dead' phone. The latest flashbackup 2.5 can downgrade any BL from 08.23 to BL 07.D0.

BL 07.D0 or below is the 'key' in reviving a 'dead' phone.

Yeah. Same thing was here, the corrupt bootloader (08.23) kill himself during flash/flexing. A correct 07.d0 downgrade file was fix the problem. Thx for a quick help to aze2learn, my E550 back from dead

I had my phone revived with flashbackup and all was good. But stupid me, I was messing around with Motorola repair studio and it killed my phone again. I
AM A BONEHEAD. I didn't learn the first time.
Well, now I went from original v400 to v600 flex back to v400 and now to v500 repair flash.
The above method works but stuck as v500. I can't load any other flash/flex's. They don't work except this v500 repair flash. any ideas would be gladly appreciated. thanks, I want my v400 back.

hey chapyn, not sure about the v80, u'll have to search a little about v80. but read up the posts. try flashbackup and do a bootloader downgrade. that worked for me the first time around. now the on this second round is a little more difficult for me. I used the method above from ckymeebs and now I can't get to my original v400 but now I'm stuck with the v500 flash. bummer

So, I'm stuck until some good samaritan can help out a guy like me. Pleeeez anybody out there ?

Ask aze2learn..he made it, i believe. I found that out as well...i tried to flash the v400 to a v600 with a retail monsterpack...even did the reflash that came with it and the flex, but to no avail. Hey, at least it's working though, right? I was stoaked over that one after being dead for 6 months.

I believe the reason is because the repair flash was built on 4FR firmware. The firmware can only revive the phone but may not be able to upgrade to others ...

I am currently downloading the latest 72R triplet. Will need some beta tester to fix this problem

Here's an update. I have finally was able to get my v400 back to the v600 flex. WOOHOO
Once I was able to get the v500 repair flash in, I had the 4FR firmware now. I tried many flashes/flexs and found 3 to work. I also noticed I when phone was dead, had use flashbackup to bootloader downgrade to get the BL 07D0 onto it. Then can I flash. But I can't flex yet until after the v500 monster pack.These v600 flex's work on 4FR,GI9V600000AA0E9,GS9V600T671TW1CE,SE6452AXXP10F 9. I couldn't reflash any other flash except this 4FR that would boot up and work. I couldn't upgrade to any boot loaders either except the one I have now, BL 07D0.
So now my v400 went from v500flex to the v600flex, and I can also do the boot up in flash mode via the press *#+ power method. I can't seem to get the *#9999# function back for the detailed phone info. Bummer.

If anybody know how to get this *#9999# function back up and running, I'd like to know. Its handy to have.
When I flashed with like a 72R or 75R I get splash screen and shut off. So, didn't work
Im guessing any monster pack with the 4FR in it will work. i couldnt get the cingular v400 75R monster pack either, too back I liked the branding instead of Moto one.
Thats how I did it, hope this may help others to get back v400 to v600. Good luck happy flashing/flexing.

i have my phone e398@ROKR dead"blank screen".before that, i make fullbackup then i make into flash files/superfiles SHX. after that i separate into many (*.smg)s. i open my R373_G_0E.30.43R_PCMMod_MP_for_all_E398{@0x10D0000 0}CG15.smg
files by DRM editor in SHX Codec then i replace .gif that i wanted to change with other gif which same pixel.i save changes into other .smg. after that i open LangPack editor to change the content of parsing language....it works...
i collect modification of *.smg from separate *.smg and i change DRM *.smg to my file which i replace those gif.i make superfiles...it can be done...i found new superfiles right now
then i flash it by MultiFlashFlex.exe...
the progresses are until finish flashing file into 99% then i have messages from FlashErrorLog1.log ...

In case it has any bearing...all I remember is This is a v300, flashed to v600 and flexed to V3...if that makes any sense....Cheers. p.s. I have never taken this phone apart...so I won't be able to do any testpoint or stuff like that.

After a nice long 3-5hour session of s710a modding + v635i modding...after a sorta leave of absence of ~7months of modding., I managed to crash an older phone I was attempting to unlock for fun Just before heading to bed.

I was reading the thread in motomodders about unlocking with flashbackup&pds.

I did make a full backup,

Problem is I strayed from the guidelines...the tutorial uses flashbackup 1.6, and I downloaded 2.5..which had this un-mentioned built-in unlocker feature...so I figured why not try it? If it fails., I follow instr, and do the back-up that I had?

Well...It crashed. Immediately afterward...out of the pits of darkness my mind (never before having to use the +*pwr combo) thought of trying that. Well I got a white screen for a couple secs'....but now it's been ~8 tries, connected via usb or not but no go. I thinK I'll try one last time and then call it a night...after all it is quarter to 6a.m.

Dang...if anyone can shed some light or some miracle to do this It'd be a nice learning experience for me.

dang....well wouldjya b'lieve it??? Guy was right. It will appear dead...but usb cable will tell ya if it is really alive. On the last 2-3 tries It connected with a dead screen...and I quickly skipped about 4 heart beats and hit restore in flashbackup.

hey friends, just thought i'd drop a tip on getting the phone into boot loader. try removing the sim. i tried for hours then i tried removing the sim then reinstalling it and then it worked.

I had to flash my V551 twice because the first one I did it with a V3 monster pack. I was able to flash it a second time with the right monster pack, but now each time I start the phone it starts with the bootloader screen. Does anybody knows how to make the phone start normally? Thanks!

ok, well i tried to unlock the phone but taking the pds files and editing them and then loading them back on. But when i did this my phone would power on and off but it wouldnt function. When i pressed buttons it would not work. if i held the menu button hte lcd would go black and then i would have to press the red end call button to bring it back to wallpaper. i then decided to use my full phone backup and recover it. when i did this hte phone would not power and i could not get a bootloader. When i plug my phone in it says "s blank neptune" in mff. any one have any ideas?

well see, ive been around computers all of my life and i am a programmer, a graphic designer, a gamer, a game level maker, video editor and much more. I understand these concepts but i know where i went wrong. Im pretty sure i just cleared my phones flash so bad i need a smart clip to fix it. and i actually addapted the idea of seem editing and such all in 1 day.

OK, So I messed around with the *# thing bootloaded it (V3) buzzed off out of the room while it was on that... Someone HAS touched it since I left it in my house I know they have because it was in a different place...

So now all I see is "CORRUPT CODE"

You've tried to restore that back-up in boot mode...and it doesn't revive the phone?

If that's your resume, you probably should have researched the PDS backup function from random. Last time I checked it, the first few lines of code (in a hex editor) where "err." The V551, V3, etc, do not (or did not, and still do not according to random's website) work with the pds backup editor.

So now I'm curious as to how you actually tried to unlock it, as random's "PDSeditor" wont work with the v551's pds. Did you actually try to do it in a hex editor by yourself, and didn't notice the "err" in the first line?

ORRRRRR...is it an unreliable procedure...and the 3 times I did it and it worked awesome., I was just pure lucky and shouldn't base any future attempts on my track record?

p.s.If it's a FULL BACKUP you're doing...shouldn't it backup/restore the flash/flexes that you had on the phone

I flashed my v635 with the wrong lang pack and now I think I have a corrupt flash, I can't get into the bootloader without having my phone plugged in, when I take off the ac adapter is shuts down. It's like the battery isn't even being detected; it says unable to charge. Also it says "insert sim", someone please helP!

I have flashed many other phones and unlocked using flashbackup but ran into a problem testing on razr.
Here's my chaptered story :cry:

1. I have a razv V3(locked) of which i start out with bootloader 8.26. well i wanted to try out some hacks so I started by using motophoenix to downgrade by bootloader to 07E0.
2. Well this went fine and the phone was still working. So i went ahead and used flashbackup 1.71 to create a backup of my bootloader and my pds, but i never got the full backup completed (32/16mb).
3. I have 2 razr phones and i sucessfully did a backup of the other one(unlocked by smartclip) so i figured I could just use this backup in case of problems.
4. So i went to pdseditor to try out the step back thingy on the pds file, but it seems like i had selected the wrong pds file, which was my pds backup of the unlocked v3 to make the edits on, i did a save as of course into a different folder.
5. So unknowingly i used flashbackup and restore the wrong pds into my unlocked phone and my phone never came back on since. When i went into flash mode it displayed [Boot Loader 07E0 SW Version:Not Found]
6. Well i knew that i have to restore the original pds using flashbackup at this point, but when i tried it told me pds error. I then went to pdseditor to check this pds(backup) file and it gave me an error again, so it seems that my pds backup is faulty! :dizzy:
7. I then tried MRS to repair my phone and it displayed 'Erase fail' and 'Exec loader failed', so that didn't work.
8. I then downgraded my bootloader to 07D0 using MFF, it changed the bootloader, but i still couldn't get my phone alive. I then flashed a monster pack for razr by motox, MFF displayed flash sucessful, but i still couldn't start the phone.
9. All this while I could change bootloaders as i wish but it wouldn't let me flash or restore a backup of another phone to get back my software version.
10. I then went back to MRS to try repair again, it everything failed again, but when i removed the phone the screen was blank but the keypad was lit. I tried turning off the phone and that didn't work. So i removed the battery, but when i put it back in again the keypad lit back up by itself.
11. When i check the status in MFF it shows that the phone is in flash mode. I again tried to flash bootloaders and Mpacks but i get a pop-up displayed that the phone is empty and then the flash fails.
12. I tried re-doing the repair in MRS but now it also shows 'sending loader failed', so i guess it won't try to repair the phone now.
Wow, after ALL this drama, if it had a happy ending, i would turn it into a movie!
I desperately hope someone can help me get my phone working again.....an nooBees Beware!

I too have a problem similar to chezral. After a failed restore in ramdlr with my RAZR V3, when erasing the phone for a full restore, i never got the "erase ack" command, and ramdlr just sent a "USB io time-out". Since then I have not been able to access the bootloader screen with (*#+pwr). The phone's keypad will light up after putting the battery in place, but the screen remains blank and blank. THe only upside I suppose is when I connect the phone to MFF or RSDlite it still recogonizes the phone as "S Blank Neptune Flash LTE" and MFF and RSDlite will say "connected". RAMdlr will still read:
"Switching to flash mode
ADDR 0FD0000AD
JUMP 0FD0010AE"

when I send the RAMldr ldr_all.bin, but the problem I get with RAMdlr after that point is I always get the "USB IO time-out" response. No luck with erase, or send binary. BTW, i do have a full PDS+bootloader+eeprom backup from RAMdlr. I just cannot seem to flash it onto the phone using any program. MFF and RSDlite will hang at the Sending Ram downloader phase when attempting to send either a monsterpack or a bootloader. The most interesting thing happens when I try to send the bootloader in MMF or RSD and after it gets to 100% for sending the bootloader, the phone will mysteriously disconnect and the flash will always fail after that. With Flashbackup and trying to restore the full backup I get the msg "Sending Loader... Failed! (Already Sent ?)" and in the second diaglog box I get "Sending loader failed! Before continuing check if your PDS backup is valid. Continue?" I have been pouring through all the revive dead phone threads for Motorolas in general, e398's and V3's. And I have not seen someone mention a similar problem with me in reporting that ramdlr is getting a "USB IO time-out" anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.

I can't even get to bootloader, I tried * # and power button and it worked and I didn't know wich file I should use to reflash the phone so after I did last one the phone just went off and since then the * # power button does not work so I can't do anything with it now. PLEASE help!!!! Its V600.

I got a v551, it powercycles through and resets when it's turned on... I have tried reflashing and reflexing with a monster pack it still does not work. Maybe i did soemthign wrong because I read if it goes into bootload mode it can be fixed, which it can do. PLease help odds are its somethign that takes 3 minutes that i'm just doing wrong. thanks
