Bought Virgin Mobile off eBay V5 (SE47) and the display does not work, but the phone does. Anyone know how I can fix this or is it fixable? I am brand new to the forum, so please bear with me.

open up the phone and the cable connecting the screen from the bottom PCA is loose or disconnected.
you need a t6 torx screwdriver and a very small phillips
theres instructions posted online search google for kyocera slider takeapart

I guess I should have been a little more clearer. I do appreciate your response. The display does light up but nothing is on it but "colored" fuzziness. Should I still take it apart and check the cable or is something else amiss?

sure that can always help. it is possible that the screen is BAD...as in the lcd part of the screen has suffered "liquid damage" as they say.... i hope its just a bad cable connection, though.
i only have broken LCD screens in stock otherwise i would offer you one

thanks again. I thought I had t6 torx, but don't so I'll have to find one today. I will let you know how it goes. If no luck, I will sell it for parts perhaps.

Well, got the phone apart, no loose cables. Reassembled it and still the same, a colorfully fuzzy screen with no images. Otherwise it works: can dial out. It is a Virgin Mobile, but I believe it has been unlocked and thus the screen is blank. I have ordered a cable off eBay to use witn BitPM. I hope I can find out what is wrong with that. Any other suggestions? Can the phone be reflashed with Virgin Mobile Software?, if so, how?
Thanks,

yeah it can but no "unlocking" would ever cause a hardware malfunction such as that. somebody might have opened it up and bent/tore the cable that connects to the LCD, or they might have pressed their finger on it and broken it....in any case it is NOT a sw issue, because no matter what the screen shows the hourglass, slider boot logo and carrier's logo on startup before loading the programmed EFS/NVM wallpaper and desktop
in any case good luck

Guess, I'll relook with a magnifying lens. I'll google for a cable if such a thing exists. Or should I look for an LCD?

well its kinda easy to tell when theres a damaged LCD...it will be cracked or broken, or it might have been OPENED and they detached the glass which will killl LCDs....but the cable is pretty much undetachable from the lcd....so...eeks

SUCCESS!! SUCCESS!!
I went back, disassembled the SE47, cleaned the flex ribbon with a special lens cloth, made sure all the connections were tight and put it all back together, very delicately, and ZAP!! the display lit up and now we are using the phone in it's original Virgin Mobile software package.
To realgt, thanks a million for your help!!!
