Pix locking phone after deleting with BitPim 8910

First of all thanks to all of you for putting together a great recource. I picked up my 8910 a few days ago. It's okay, it doesn't seem to be as good a radio as my 9155.

Anyway, I got BitPim working with very little trouble with the LGVX6000 cable and the Futuredial drivers. I removed the ERL banner and added some mp3 ringtones. That all works really well.

I took a couple pics and tried downloading them to my computer. The BitPim transfer would fail when it got to the pics. After trying a few more times I then deleted them and the prefs.dat and config.txt files. On reboot they were recreated. Now when I go into camera mode I can see and select the thumbnails but them the phone locks. In Media gallery mode I can't even see the thumbnails, it just locks.

FWIW I am unable to get CID's ringtone tool working after numerous vbrun ubdates and reboots.

p.s. been having good luck with JetAudio, nice simple file trimmer, ripper, burner and broadcasting, checkit out.

TIA

Boscoj, sorry I can't tell you where to go from here, but for other readers be warned - don't rely on either bitpim, or for that matter brewsky, and especially don't delete the prefs.dat and config.txt files. It's not worth the risk in light of how easy it is to use the phone menu itself to delete unwanted photos. That's what it's there for after all. Keep in mind that the Audiovox built-in software isn't the greatest and needen't be pushed beyond certain limits.

I've been reading all of this and am wondering if I can try to restore the clean backup I made.

Also curious if the LGVX6000 is going to behave the same way. I have a couple weeks to return this phone . . .

try deleting all the pics.. they may have been listed in one of those files, and when you deleted them the phone flipped/

okay well it did allow me to delete all. Funny, one of the pics got duplicated.

I guess that fixed it . . .
