I was looking to use my Cingular Branded z500a in Australia and Singapore this spring, and when I bought the phone he said international sims would work but not US sims... Well I put in my prepaid vodafone sim, and NO GO.
I was reading a bit and noticed something called a Terminator Dongle. I was curious if this is something I should try.

I own 4 z500a's just wondered what results i would get and if 27+17shipping is worth it.
I assume this may void out a warranty? Why do they still lock phones, this is so dumb specially after 2 years....
Thanks in advance

I just bought the dongle from the same seller, and it's really great. I totally recommend it. But, unless you are planning to transfer pics, games, tones, etc, you don't really need the extra cable. If you do want it, however, then i would recommend it.

well I have the USB cable, and I was able to unlock via a code from cingular. Not sure why I would need it now.

That item in the auction will not unlock the Z500a, read all the models, the z500a is not listed. I have not found a unlock for the z500a yet.

Note that the z500a sold in North America doesn't support 900mhz GSM which severly limits your network choices abroad. It would only reliably work with a network that's solely 1800 (like Orange UK), and will not work whatsoever on a network that's solely 900 (like Optus in Australia).
