T3 -> 3650/3660 via BT

Hey All,

I'm about to rip my hair out... but before I go the self-bald route, I figured I'd post and ask the question:

Can I use my T-Mobile GPRS over my TT|3 paired via bluetooth to my Nokia 3660 (same as the 3650)?

I'm under the distinct impression that this can be done via port 8080, though I haven't been able to figure it out.

411: I have the crappy $4.99 T-zones account, not the $19.99 data plan.

Please help if you can. It would make me very happy. This should be easy, right?

Thanks in advance

T-Mo has more or less shut down port 80 (8080). That means that the data plan is a must. Now, there are still a few people out there (check the T-Mobile board) that can get gprs via T-Zones--It's a hit or miss for me. However, T-Mo has been shutting down that option and will eventually get to everyone using T-Zones.

Myself, I can use some communication programs on my T3 like Verichat, and sync Avantgo and Worldmate. Webpro however is getting incresingly spotty.

I'm getting GPRS, that's not the problem. The only port they cut afaik is 7070, which is for streaming. As I mentioned there is supposedly a port 8080 work-around.

Any tips? Thanks

Question: Did you do the Nov 2004 phone-link update? If not, good .

Ok, I *did* the same thing you are trying to do with your T|T3 and 3650. However, from my port testing, they have completely closed down port 80 (8080). They haven't closed down SMTP and POP3, but they have reduced what us cheap T-Zones users can do . I can't go online with WebPro, no Verichat, can't update AvantGo...nothing.

Honestly, there could be a way around it, but don't hold your breath. You'd be better off paying the $20.

Hmmm...I'm surprised that you can't use Verichat or wireless sync Avantgo. Hell, I can wirelessly sync Worldmate without prob (knocking on wood for good luck now!)

Now, teethering my 3650 to my laptop is another story. For some reason, the T3 isn't hindered much. What I believe is that there are a few people sprinkled around who haven't been affected yet with the port 80/8080 block, but eventually it will happen. Soon, everyone will either have to choose using csd methods (which is PAINFULLY slow (9.6k) and thus using min. out of your plan or free during offpeak, or paying the extra $$ for the data plan.
