Ok. Ive been bouncing around here and another big site for a bit trying to see what I need to do to get ringtones/backgrounds on my cell and pictures/voicememos off.

I have the profilic and the curitel drivers.
I got the cable for the 8900 from Radioshack (Strait USB Cable)
I pluged in the USB cable and it installed all 3 drivers:
Modem, COM9, USB for curitel*
Modem, COM11, USB for Profilic*
* Used two diferent phisical USB Ports
I ran BitPim and set the com port field to "COM9"/"COM11"
For Phone Type I have tried the LG-VX4400, 6000, and 7000

I go to the Filesystem tab and click it. It says BUSY in the bottom left corner.

I watch things on the Log tab and it connects to the cell.

With the 4400 I get (I have tried all 6 possibilities of COM9/11 and 4400/6000/7000)
Code:
0:25:32.140 COM9: Opening port COM9, 115200 baud, timeout 3.000000, hardwareflow 0, softwareflow 0 0:25:32.140 COM9: Open of comm port suceeded 0:25:32.140 LG-VX4400: Attempting to contact phone 0:25:32.140 LG-VX4400: Listing dir ''

and then it just sits there.

With the 6000 and 7000 it adds the lines
Code:
0:39:16.233 COM11: Timed out waiting for 7e, requested bytes 1 - 0 bytes read 0:39:16.233 COM11: Changed port speed to 38400 0:39:19.733 COM11: Timed out waiting for 7e, requested bytes 1 - 0 bytes read 0:39:19.733 COM11: Changed port speed to 115200

I waited about 5mins, and finally had to disconnect the cell or Kill Task BitPim to stop it.

Am I just being impatient or am I doing something wrong.

Thanks

Figured it out.

Finally took the suggestion of using the BROWSE button to find the port, saw it listed the Crutial Modem as well as the COM9, selected it, and clicked ok, it returned COM8, tried to connect as 6000 and got

Code:
2:33:46.983 COM8: Opening port COM8, 115200 baud, timeout 3.000000, hardwareflow 0, softwareflow 0 2:33:47.000 COM8: Open of comm port suceeded 2:33:47.000 LG-VX6000: Attempting to contact phone 2:33:47.000 LG-VX6000: Listing dir '' 2:33:50.000 COM8: Timed out waiting for 7e, requested bytes 1 - 0 bytes read 2:33:50.000 COM8: Changed port speed to 38400 2:33:53.500 COM8: Timed out waiting for 7e, requested bytes 1 - 0 bytes read 2:33:53.500 COM8: Changed port speed to 115200 2:33:57.015 COM8: Timed out waiting for 7e, requested bytes 1 - 0 bytes read 2:34:00.046 LG-VX6000: Now in brew mode

Now, since this has a rather interesting folder structure based on the binarie sysem it seem, should when I add things I just keep increasing the #?

Thanks

how would i do it with an 8610?

Well first you would probably need the 86** cable. The "Radioshack" cables are the same thing as the "FutureDial" cables.

Here are links to both sources
RadioShack

FutureDial

Or as some suggest, you can go to ebay and seach for the FutureDial Cable ID 25 cable, FutureDial's catalog number is RC-AUD04S, and RadioShack's catalog number is 17-759.

I got mine from the local RadioShack for a bit less then FutureDial sells it for themselves, but I have heard of prices like 2 or 3 dollars for them on eBay.

Once you have the cable, you need the drivers from Curitel which you can get with his link www.curitel.com/english/

Open up the zip file and run the program inside. It will install some software called PCSync, but you won't need that, plus it won't work, the important part is that as part of installing PCSync it should add the drivers to support the cable.

Then get BitPim. Run it and acess the edit menu and choose settings at the bottom.

Don't worry about the Disk Storage area, click on the Second Browse button

and look for "Curitel Packet Service",

select it, then click the ok button . For Phone type, try LG-VX6000 or LG-VX7000.

Click the OK button.

If you can see a tab labeled Filesystem,

click on that, if you don't, activate it from the view menu

and you will see a plus sign in a box with a / beside it. Click on the x sign in a box. It should only take a few seconds.

If it doesn't work, try LG-VX7000, if that doesn't work, try some of the other phone types.
