I fugured that if everyone just posts their problems in this one thread, then it would be much easier then looking around the forum to help someone out.

I'm gonna e-mail howard or one of the administraters and ask if there is a way to start a lounge sort of thing, like on the Veirzon forums.

Any questians, PM me.....Enjoy

Ok, well i have a question, i dunno if anyone will read it but perhaps you could help.

Ive been able to put mp3 ringers on my 8910, but when someone calls they are kinda late to ring compared to true midi ringers. is that just my phone being retarded? cause what will happen is it will vibrate for one ring, then the mp3 will kick in, but with true midi files it will vibrate and ring starting at the same time (earlier). Maybe my mp3's are a bad bitrate or somthing, i don't know. What programs do you guys use to encode mp3's from .wavs? and what are the parameters you use? Thx.

Mine does the same thing. I buy mine of Get it Now, or send them to my phone via MMS. I think it's just the time it takes the phone to retreive the files from it's memory. MP3s are bigger files then MIDI therefor, it takes longer for it to retreive it.

Hope I was helpful

No problems here, just make sure when you trim the mp3, there is no silence before the track starts (usually 1-3 seconds silence exists)

Posted by: criddled456

sliderdude, great idea on this thread.

has anyone heard abotu teh 8910 being an upgrade of the 8610? i read it on the forums somewhere and that might explain why some techniques for the 8900 dont work on the 8910.

Posted by: habib5885

so would that mean techniques for the 8610 would work for the 8910?

Posted by: mau108

Do the codes from the 8900 work on the 8610? If they do then yes the 8910 is an upgrade from its ancestor 8610. But to me the 8900 and 8910 look alike, where the 8610 and 8600 look alike ... dont know software wise...

Posted by: DarkHero2

I have knowticed that with the 8900 people are always talking about MP3 files, and PNG/GIF files, but on the 8910 all the music files are pmd and the images are bmp.

I am not sure if pmd are just MP3 and MIDI files with the extension changed or if they are there own filetype.

Another question is how to get an image/ringtone to show up without hex editing on a VirginMobile 8910. That download____.txt files that many people have mentioned with the 8900 don't exist on my 8910. And I tried using the get graphics option and all it does it throw you over to Virgin's WAP site.

Also does anyone have a full list of ether 8910 #codes, Virgin #codes, both, or atleast a site that might have them?

Thanks

The 8910 is a combo of the 8610 and the 8900. Most of the codes for the 8610 work on the 8910 and i heardf that most of the codes for the 8900 work on the 8910.

All of this is because Virgin Cripples the firmwares on their phones to a sickneing extent! You can do MANY more things with the Verizon 8910 then the VM 8910....

If You want codes, then here you go

##1111(END) - [doesn't work]
##2773(END) - [doesn't work]
##20022002(END) - [doesn't work]
##2222(END) - [doesn't work]
##2240(END) - [doesn't work]
##2250(END) - RFNV Contents. [works]
##2283(END) - Set the data port baud rate. [works]
##7738(END) - Change P_Rev. [works]
##1122(END) - Test ringtone, vibrate, and colors. [works]
##1133(END) - [didn't test]
##1144(END) - Change the length of the keypad tones. [works]
##27752345(END) - Battery info and modification. Be careful! [works]
##27732726(END) - Software tests and stuff. [works]

The ones that say [dosen't work] mean that they don't work on the VM 8910. ALL of them work on the Verizon 8910 and do different things!

what is the P_Rev ?

Honestly, i really don't know! I got these from the Virgin Forum I did test them all my self and if you have a Verizon 8910 then all of them work! Try them your self if you have another provider.

Does anyone know if a USB data cable will work with the Verizon Wireless version of the 8910? I am interested in seeing if anyone has been successful in transfering ringers, wallpaper/pics, and MP3's to and from the phone with a USB cable. The link below says that it is possible but I have heard that VZW phones are "locked out".

Yes.....All 8910's can support superphonic ringtones. The guts of all of the phones are the same.....The Firmwares is what makes them different, but that can't change what the phone is capable of doing......

how do i get a super phonic ringtone on my cell phone?

I'm new to this phone hacking thing. So far I've been able to load ringtones to my 8910 with bitmin (<-- I think thats what its called) and thats been pretty cool. I been puttin mp3's on there trippin my friends out cause they can only get those stupid midi's on theirs. Now I want to find out if can load games onto the phone, I got one of those audiovox super CD's from ebay and it has like 500 games I can put on my phone. but the instructions were pretty weak, they only told me how to do the ringers. I think I can figure out how to put them on but I don't know what folder to put them in. any help would be great, thanks. I also can't get the free wap thing to work. I did the ##browser thing and put in the numbers it said to put but I just get network unavalible. btw my provider is Verizon These forums are great, I'm glad I found them!

wow, i have to say this is my favoirte phone on verizon that I have used. I love being able to email myself ringtones and I love how the keys feel and how light it is. And I love the fact I only got it for 60 with a 1 year contract. Thanks for the people that helped me.

Ok, I read posts all over this site (and thanks for all the info) but now I am stuck. I bought the cable, downloaded the drivers, downloaded and installed Bitpim, hooked it all up and with a bit of fumbling around I managed to download my pics off the phone to the pc. That alone made the cable worth the ebay price.
NOW I am trying the next step and seem to be getting nowhere and since 90% of the information here pertains to Verison or Bellsouth I wanted a specific answer to how you get ring tones (in mp3 format) to the Alltel phone. Forgive me if its a repeat request but as a newb to all this phone info I just didnt see the answer elsewhere.

[edit] i did manage to save the mp3 as 48kbps at 22050 freq with a file size of 29k...this is just a 4 sec mp3 that my wife wants on her phone so i was testing my phone first. I did not change it to mid as I noticed several posts note that was not necessary.

Thanks for the quick reply Mau but thats the first place I went when I saw the link from here. The stuff there is for veriozon and bell not alltel.... hence my post. I am not able to get any further than looking into the phone and retrieving the pics my wife or I have taken. I can look into the file system and see the one app tone my wife dloaded from alltels service but I checked every song avail from the providers they have and there were none there either of us wanted.
The posts here steered me in the right direction as the file setup (appearance) is very different on the phone that I have. At any rate, I found the pics (under BREW / Shared / Jpg). Once moved to my pc they showed up just as they should so I am very happy with that.
Like I said the file system doesnt look the same as the info provided on your site so I don't know exactly what is where. I looked through all of the available files and no MA folder was present that I could find so I thought it better I ask before proceeding any more.
I did convert the wav file she wanted to mp3 then renamed it 10.dat.
I then saved the 10gcd file and changed it as you suggested on your site but there is no MA folder to drop it into. So any suggestions from here?

Is there any way to clear the total air time on the 8910?
I like to clear the total air time each month to monitor my monthly usage.

There Must be MA directory if this is a bell audiovox 8910, please take a screen shot of the file system tree and post it here...

Sorry if I mispoke it but its an Alltel phone.

Appears like this:

-$SYS.FACTORY
-$USER_RMT
-$USER_DIRS
-CLK_DB
+MMS
+VoiceDB
+brew
+camera
+db
+down
+nvm
--uivrState.dat
+user
+wappush

There are several sub directories but like I said the pics were under brew not camera.... that seemed odd but oh well.

Posted by: midtownboarder

downsouth, i have an alltel phone too and if you are trying to put ringtones onto the phone, go all the way into the user folder down to ringers, right-click and go to new file, navigate to wherever you have your ringtones on your computer and click open. then after you are all done go into access apps, and get to the menu where it shows what programs you have downloaded (i.e., downplay, etc.), then back out of axcess. it will give you a message saying something about "illegal memory axcess", then your phone will restart and you should be able to see them in your media folder. to set them as a ringtone, go to settings, sounds, ringer type, ringer, and then when you get to the list of ringtones, scroll left or right until you get to the "my downloads" list. That worked for me anyway. Hope it helps.

Posted by: DownSouth

Yep that did the trick...... i had acciedentally done that on the first phone and couldnt figure out why the tone worked on one and not the second.
VERY simple remedy thanks.

[edit]
Mau you should add that to your site....
For Alltel users with the new cdm 8910
I used a cable purchased off Ebay
*downloaded and installed Bitpim
*downloaded and installed a wav to mp3 converter, picked a (wav) tone to test with, converted the wav to mp3, saved it in a folder on the desktop
*opened up bitpim with the phone connected via my handy dandy new cable.
Please note that this did and will not turn my phone on or off (as some of the info I read stated it would).
*Once in bitpim clik Edit / Settings / and sellect the same com port your modem uses. I used the OTHER CDMA phone under the types box but I cannot say what will and will not work there.
*clik on the File System tab
*Scroll down to user / sound / ringer
*right clik on ringer and sellect New File then when the window opens choose the tone from the browser menu (whereever you saved the mp3 or midi) then close bitpim
*on your phone go to menu access apps (when you back out you will get an error message - thats ok)
*open up the media gallery on your phone and you should see the tone you installed under tones
*you can now go to settings / sounds / ringer type / ringer and the tone should be under the downlads box.
Hope this helped.
Thanks for all the info guys!

As I understand it, the V7 Flasher is the same as the Audiovox 8910 right? Anyway, is there any secure way to send ringtones/games to this phone? I saw some ambiguous comments which suggested that doing anything with this phone is an easy way to screw up the firmware and make your phone unusable. I'm wondering if any brave people have found a foolproof way to not screw up this phone. Also, what tools would I need to do this?

A data cable

Software

that's all I can see that I need, right? Links would be appreciated--thanks a lot for your time, guys.

Posted by: DownSouth

One little thing I noticed during my experiments..... my phone took the tones fine and they work great. My wifes works fine as well but somehow her phone info was changed. When I turn the phone on it displays the phone number as 000-000-0000. LOL minor issue but does anyone know where that particular info might reside in the alltel phone?

Time to work on games and wallpapers now.

Posted by: midtownboarder

im not sure if this is it but if you type ##20022002 END (end key) into your phone you can get to the NAM programming menu and you can change the phone number and whatnot. then it should appear right when you turn the phone on.

Here is my thread regarding Ringtones and Backgrounds for the Virgin Mobile 8910: http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...threadid=512938

it's alright to tweak the phone just as long as you don't try to add on characters to the rms.db file, just overwrite the existing name for the ringtone, otherwise if you ADD characters, you will end up frying the phone, otherwise there's no problem when modifying it. All you really need are the Cable, Drivers, and Software (Hex Editor, BitPim, etc.).

This is a recent phone history regarding the Audiovox Phones:
8900: Metro PCS, Telus Mobility, US Cellular, Verizon Wireless, Western Wireless, Cricket, etc.
8920: Sprint PCS
8610: Virgin Mobile
8615: Bell Mobility
8910: Bell Mobility, NTelos, Virgin Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Aliant, Alltell, Sprint (8912), etc.

In Regards to the Virgin Mobile 8910, i believe they completely disabled the feature to access the Proxy (IP) Addresses, i've already tried numerous codes that might relate to IP Addresses, Proxies, Etc. and have come up negative.

Say SliderDude, Were you able to successfuly tweak your Virgin Mobile 8910, and if so, how far did you go to modify it?

Unfortunately I don't believe there is a way to keep the flash turned on, Though what i believe they SHOULD have done in the Diagnostics menu (##1122 End) was to have a feature that could test the flash AS well as the camera.

I still can't get games on my phone. That guide says look in the /MA directory, but there isn't one on my VZW phone.

This is what the file system shows:

$SYS.FACTORY
$SYS_RMT
$USER_DIRS
+CLK_DB
+MMS
+VoiceDB
+brew
+camera
+db
+down
+nvm
uivrState.dat
+user

So anyone have any success getting games on their Verizon 8910?

Ok, last night my phone started to vibrate(note, it's set to ring and not vibrate) It had my mother's phone number on each angle of the caller id like on the left side 555 on the bottom 555 on the side 5555..........................so i went to answer the call and her number was now on the mainscreen with a bunch of ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ......not like the missed cal with the pic of the phone, but her number and a bunch of zzzzzzzzzzz...............then when i hit the end key to get out of it, it had a picture of flames and a skull........................Then when i hit the end key out of the it said

Please hold................Refreshing user settings......5.........4..........3........2..... ....1...........then it powered off and back on and then the caller id was all black..........so i powered it off and then back on and everything was fine.........
Then i went into Get it Now and previewed a ringtone and all of the sudden the phone just dies..........had 2 bars of battery, but just dies........i try to power it on.......nothing happens..........then i charge it, once again then refreshing user settings screen comes on, then phone powers off, and then back on again...............
THis is really ****ed up...........does anyone know why this thing is doing this?

Posted by: Tech_Junkie

UPDATE!!!
Now when i press the END key, the phone has a spaz attack and starts beepint like 100 times

Posted by: Air King

Sounds like your phone had a well hidden defect...most likely it came out when exposed to your mom's number. Take it back to the store and they'll either set it to rights or replace it.

I hope this isn't the fate of it...............

Posted by: Air King

That, alas, may be exactly what's happened. It sounds like your phone had a fairly catastrophic failure of some kind...the sudden, total loss of function
plus the weird things it was doing suggest just that.

Posted by: criddled456

skulls and flames? that doesnt seem like something thatd be programmed into the phone, sounds like it got hacked into.... ive gotten some "user data being restored" message before, i dont know what causes it though.

1. LCD, CROSS-MARKET SOFTWARE ISSUE=MAJOR PROBLEMS, 8900, 8600

2. BREW DOWNLOADS WILL NOT DELETE.

ALL YOU GUYS SEEM TO KNOW ABOUT THIS "BIT.PIM"
wILL IT HELP WITH THESE ISSUES?

1. FLIPS have white LCD, blank, caller ID screen/1/2 off the screen.
THIS IS A SOFTWARE ISSUE, AT’s have been forever trying to build new parts, and make a good flip. Going from one software to another (Different markets) is the culprit. We are working with programming to determine which are compatible.

For the 8900, There are two types of LCD and therefore you need two types of software. One is casio and the other LCD is AU.

You would need to match the software with the LCD. The way you will know the difference is by looking at a number 2 and 3 that I have highlighted below so you can note the difference.

T095MP3T25_0.194

I know 157/NTLELOS can be flashed into 245/metroPCS.

I’m not sure about Cellular One, or W.W. or Verizon.

Where are all the Level 3 techs out there??

What are you doing to correct these issues?

I DID get an 8900 with the BREW glitch (won’t delete apps/insert download cable.etc.)

I did a normal flash, without EFS erase. It went all the way through and there were no Apps. After SW download!!!! Even though it kept the call logs.

if you know how to recover the ones with white LCD/caller id cut ½.

I’d like to hear your thoughts on this matter.

PLEASE e-mail me at

Ke4khg@yahoo.com

THANKS

Happy Troubleshooting.

My 8900 does do the blank white screen thing, bit it shows a 1/2 screen on the main wallpaper screen as well. Usually I will close the phone when it gives me the blank screen, when I reopen the phone, (sometimes has to be repeated several times). When the screen is no longer blank, everything from the ERI banner up is on the bottom of the screen. It quickly corrects its self when I press the menu button and then end to return to the main wallpaper screen.

ANyone with anyhelp, I have tons more info. Maybe we can chat about other problems. fixes.

Thanks everyone for listening.

My phone has been hacked into before.....One day when i turned it on all the settings were changed. Called up verizon"sorry, we can't help you"
i guesss it's a target

dang dude that sucks! i wonder whats to come with phones getting more advanced, theyre gonna have to come with security software ad stuff

Posted by: mau108

looks liek verizon f'ed up the 8910s firmware :P

Bell's 8910's have no problems what so ever (well none reported) except for camera freezing (but thats probably cuz of overloaded pictures :P 60+ pics)

Posted by: Tech_Junkie

Well, i reset the phone (##1133) and now it's back to normal. I'm sooooo happy that i don't have to shell out 200 bucks to get an 8000! I ordered a new antenna, and tomorow i'm going to the mall to get a new faceplate.....I also plan to get a firmware upgrade at the verizon store

Posted by: criddled456

i swear i read somewhere that the firmware update for the 8910 messed with using a cable and bitpim and stuff. but if i didnt, i need to do that. my phone does weird stuff sometimes.

Posted by: Tech_Junkie

I just bought a smoke faceplate for my 8910. It looks awesome.....i'll try to post some pix by tomorow

if you go into menu/settings/sounds/ringer type/ringer, you will get the list of factory loaded tones to come up in a list to choose from. if you press over left or right you will get to a heading called "downloads" and the ringer should appear under there.

Thanks

I have the wierdest problem. I believe the tones which I have downloaded to the phone are locked. Here's what happens. When I go to the Media Gallery and open it I see the songs I have downloaded, but I can't do anything with it. Does this mean it's locked or something?

Posted by: Tech_Junkie

I nothced last week on the right side of my 8910's display that there was a small white dot. Today, when i was playing tetris, i noticed that this had gotten much worse. now it's a bunch of little white dots on the right side of my screen. I'm getting really sick of the problems with this phone

if it says it can't be assigned, thats what mine does too. if you go into settings to change your ringer, you can scroll over and get to the downloads menu to look at the ringtones you put on your phone. then you can set them as ringers. if you want them set for anything else i have no idea and would like to know if you can.

Just wondering, how do u change the homepage on the 8910????? How do i do it and what do i set it on.

Posted by: criddled456

if ud like to change your homepage on your 8910, you may want to try this. NOTE my phone is verizon and the content in the file may be specific to my phone. i cant guarantee it will work and it may mess up your phone. theres also no guarantee that changing your hompage will get free wap to work. if u do try, BACK UP YOUR FILES!

while i was messing with bitpim somehow the phone let me change the homepage. i hexdumped a buncha files and i think i may have found the one that contains the homepage. in the NVM directory, expand NVM and find the file nvm_hei

if ur feeling courageous. overwrite it with the attached file. heres a section of the file whick lead me to believe its the homepage info.

any feed back is appreciated, i hope it helps! Dont screw up your phone

Hey Rammer, just got my Audiovox 8910 also and interested in transferring pics directly to my computer. Sounds like you already done that. My question is do you have to load special software into your computer before the pics can be acquired into your computer...if so...where do I get that software. I also checked with Radio Shack and all they have is the data cable into the USB port. Anyhelp much appreciated. Astroc

Posted by: DrMike

Get BitPim and follow the directions at: http://www.vox8910.ca.tt/

Posted by: astroc

Thanks Dr. Mike, much appreciated. I am new to all these. Astroc

Posted by: astroc

Dr Mike, just checked the BitPim site and they are saying Audiovox 8900 phone is not supported. Does it work for 8910? All I want is to transfer pics to my system. Does anyone tried and what is the result? Astroc

Posted by: 69MakkeR

yup. you can transfer your cam. pix onto your comp.

you can do the whole ringtone, wallpaper thing too with the BitPim and Vox 8910. Check out Mau's site http://www.vox8910.ca.tt/

Posted by: astroc

Thank you very much...astroc...will definitely get bitmip and try it out

Posted by: astroc

I mean BitPim...typo...astroc Thanks again everyone

I'm new to the forums.......i have an 8910 and lets just say, it works! I use verizon wireless for my carrier. I have a questian, is audiovox made by tosheba or UT starcom, or are some of them toshebas ans others ut starcomms? Like the 9155-GPX sounds like the 9900(which i know is made by tosheba) and the 8910 and the 8610 sound like normal phones(without those high pitched beeps when you press a key, they just have a regular beep)

Posted by: Rammer

astroc, All you have to do is right click on the image file and select save. Pictures are located in the Brew/Shared/JPG file in the filesystem tab in BitPim, if you are using Verizon.

Posted by: burghfan

Thanks to all who are supporting this forum with their expertise and experience. We recently got four 8910’s and I have modified two of them to date with somewhat similar results. The basic problem is that on startup the phones hang for over two minutes at the Verizon splash before becoming functional.

I was able to use BitPIM, Audacity, and the FutureDial cable for the LG VX6000 to upload ringtones to two phones, seemingly without a problem. Then I attempted to load names into one phone book from Outlook. I got a page of error messages, and attempted to use the Hyundai PC Sync TX-115C to load the names and numbers. I learned quickly that the Audiovox is limited to 300 listings, so I moved the names I didn’t need into my deleted items folder in Outlook, to restore after the transfer (NOTE – if you do this, BE SURE YOU HAVE UNCHECKED THE BOX for “Empty the Deleted Folder items upon exiting” in Outlook’s <Tools> <Options> (Other>). I started the transfer and got the Microsoft “Sorry, but TX-115C has to close now” message. The phone was in service mode and prompted me to power cycle to restore the phone to normal. I did so, and the phone took a while to reboot. It has done so ever since. The PC, upon reboot, gave me the old “The system has recovered from a serious error” message. The cable connection is intermittent with the PC Sync and quite consistent with BitPim. I also tried Audiovox Handset Manager and it was unable to recognize the cable connection.

When I got to my phone’s phone book, the first entry from the Outlook list had transferred. I can’t edit or erase it. If I write over it, the original pops up like one of those sand weighted punching toys. If I try to erase it, I get a cryptic message

fs221_c or something like that and it shuts down.

On start, the VZW splash screen hangs for two minutes or so (2:40 is a fairly typical time), then, things start to move, then the screen says

Nam Setting
Verizon
XXX-XXX-XXXX (my phone number)

And then the main screen.

The second phone displays the same hanging behavior on start, but we didn’t load any names from Outlook. I believe a wallpaper was downloaded from GIN.

Any suggestions as to what is causing this? Any ideas to fix it? Reset it? Any ideas about the problems with the Hyundai PC Sync, Audiovox, and BitPIM software? I’m willing to be less greedy about uploading names as long as I can do a few ringtones and wallpapers.

Thanks in advance.

Posted by: burghfan

The offending phone book listing (see my earlier post) has been purged. The startup routine remains unchanged - nearly three minutes to the main screen.

Also, I can communhicate through the FutureDial cable to PC Sync, establishing a connection. I can import my phone's phone book to PC SYnc, but can't talk the other way without crashing the application . When I attempt this I get a screen that says "Service Mode Power recycle to make calls." Does this mean anything in terms of "power recycle"? I have to push the power button twice to get it to power down, then once more to go through the three minutes of slow startup.

"How do you know how to do all these things without making mistakes"
"Experience."
"How did you get the experience?"
"Mistakes."

Hey Rammer or anyone who have successfully transferred pix out of their 8910, I have the cable and it is all setup and it reads the phone's Filesystem....but I cant find the pix in my Media Gallery. I am using Bitpim 7.28 and running w2k.
Where are the pix located in the filesystem...mine is not under Camera...Please help. astroc

Posted by: astroc

Hey people, got the picture transfers figured out...pics in Verizon phone are in Brew, Shared, Jpeg folder. right click on the pic and safe it somewhere in your PC and you are done. Dont delete pics in Bitpim...instead delete pics in your phone after disconnect from the PC would be safer. Isnt this fun??? astroc

Did you get the software and drivers with the cable from Rshack? If not which software and drivers are u using?

Thanks

Posted by: astroc

Got the cable and driver cd thru ebay for about 10 bucks. Itrimming was the vendor. CD contain cruitel drivers. After doing some reading on the Bitpim site, I decided not to get the straight cable like the ones from Radio Shack......and go with the ones Itrimming sells instead. It is working well.

U have verizon or another provider? Just bought my cable from iTrimming on ebay too. I've already downloaded BitPim and the drivers. Hopefully I wont be dissappointed.

I have Verizon...I only use mine to get the pics off the phone directly onto my computer...that saves me a few bucks a month...so the cable will pay for itself in no time.

Thanks for the info. I assume you can also change ring tones and sync phonebooks with Outlook etc? What other software do you use besides BitPim to do those things?

Posted by: astroc

You can do all that with Bitpim, based on what I read. Here is a good site that tells you everything you need to do once you get the cable, bitpim, and the phone all talking to each other. http://www.vox8910.ca.tt/......this site has all the instructions to each one of the task you asked about. Good luck.

Anyone know the code to allow data transfers on the VM8910?

Posted by: nikeman

i have figured out how to do all the ringtones, wallpapers, and animated wallpapers and stuff for my phone now. I am very happy and this post was really helpful for me!!

I'm trying to figure out now if theres a way to change the dumb sounds or pictures verizon uses for the power off and power on. Does anyone know how to change these? Is it even possible?

Posted by: z1968

Okay, I have two questions I'm hoping someone can help me with:

1. my GF's 8910 always beeps every few minutes while charging. Is there an easy way to turn off this annoying feature? She says she can't find anything about this in the manual.

2. Her other main complaint is that the camera takes pictures while in her purse (the side button gets pushed). Is ther any way to stop this from happening without locking the keypad??

Thanks,
Dave.

Hey folks, I've been tring to SETUP my phone. I followed the link that is posted everywhere in this thread.

I can't get the curitail modem setting and the curitail software setting under ports to the same com port. Or at least I can't figure it out any way.

My curitail modem is on com4. The curitail software ports setting is on vcom5. I can't get either one to change using the directions given on the page that the link goes to.

I am using windows ME. If anyone can tell me how to get the two com ports the same on windows ME I think everything will be fine and I will be ready to go. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i've read so many posts on so many places and heard the same things over and over but im still @ a total loss. -_-;

my biggest problem, (i think) is that when i hook my phone up to my computer via the usb cable i got off of ebay, it pops up New Hardware Detected, but it can't figure out what the hell my phone is. i go through the steps to detect that it is indeed my ntelos audiovox 8910 phone, and used drivers that i got off of another site that were supposedly for the 8900 model.

now when i hook my phone to the computer, it pops up new hardware, and calls it "unknown". -_-; and i have no idea if its the drivers or what, but bitpim won't load at all for me with my phone connected or disconnected to cpu, either way it loads and goes away. brewster doesn't do anything (im guessing because my cpu hasn't realized it's a phone connecting to my cpu through the usb cable), but all i really think i need to know, is how on earth do i get my computer to recognize my phone, so that bitpim will finally load and i can finally get these images that i NEED off of my phone put onto my computer? i've tried to photomessage thing, sending to my email addy instead of a phone number, but yeah right -_-; doesn't do anything but error. can someone PLEASE email me if you know the answer to that question? w0a@yahoo.com is me. i apologize if this question has been answered anywhere before, i looked everywhere i could and haven't found it.

so basically, what do i need to do, to get my computer to realize that the 'unknown' thing connecting to it, is just my poor little audiovox 8910? o_o;

Posted by: z1968

Looks like there are lots of questions, but nobody willing to answer them....

Posted by: woa

greaaaaaat. -_-;

i just noticed today at work, that messing with one of these programs has messed up my memo pad thing on my phone. i was using it to keep track of bills people owe me, and order numbers for work, and now when i go to view a memo, i get a white screen with an error saying

DATA ABORT 0x 238754 [#1-9] = (random 0x values), and it changes ever second or so, and from there, the ONLY thing i can do, is take out my battery and turn it back on. -_-;;

I have a Virgin Mobile 8910.
What's the deal?

Posted by: tropicalazer

try using QPST explorer. its much easier with nearly all the same functions.

the ports and everything almost configure themselves after u follow the fairly details tutorial.

only problem ive run into is finding the GODDAM FLIPPING SUTPID PIECE OF CRAP SPC!!!

Go to the "tools" at the top of the window
- Folder Options
- Click on the "View" tab
- UNCHECK the "Hide extensions for known file types"
- Click Apply

There you go.. it shouldn't have .dat.mid or mp3 after it

And if some unstable file thing pops up after renaming it, just click ok or yes

#1- Never happened to me so can't help you..

#2- The only way to stop this from happening is disable the camera by messing with the software but then you would have a useless camera, but is really that much of a hassle to hold the # key and press 123 to unlock it?

1. Put the phone into etiquette mode, or go into Menu, Settings, Sounds, Alerts and turn them all off.

2. Not possible, unless you open up the hardware and disable that button in all Why not just put it in key lock mode, you can still answer the phone if it rings, the only hassle is you gotta wait 1 seconds for the phone to unlock to make calls

ANY MORE QUESTIONS??? ASK THEM NOW and I'll answer them in a timely manner :P

You need a datacable thoe.

hey mau, still wondering on that SPC/ how to get pitpim up and running with an unexpected exception after trying to get phone data.

my friend suggested that i use my primary USB port (i have 2, the first one has printer drivers installed). right now my phone is on the 2nd one and i think ive got everything set for it.

furture (curitel) dial drivers installed

USB speed set to 15000 or whatever (2nd highest)

bitpim and QPST installed

phone turned off and connected securely

USB cable purchased from ebay. says for 8900 on the side.

my provider is bell and ive heard success stories from the bell people

what could be going wronngggg?

thanks for listenin mates

okokok sorry to bug you even more MAU but i just realized what my first problem is. i was using some weird test version of bitpim and not the newest one. im getting a similar prob with the new version but the unexpected exception is slightly different with this one. im also not entirely sure my port settings are right but ive look over them a couple times and it seems to match your site.

sorry again. my brain could also use an upgrade

anyways, bitpim is hanging on fone detection and sometimes doesnt respond at all

about the port settings ive just checked again (im on win 98 so its tough to follow your directions, they look to be for ME). in the drivers installed for my usb ports (they read something 1, soemthing 2, future dial serial diagnostic port, furute dial modem port) i have like 5-8 files in each one. is this WAYYY too many?

thats all for now

ill send the exception error message if i can get that far again

i must be retarded

Posted by: spannungsbogen

I would just like to mention that using the technique for the 8910, with a 8900 cable(and driver) i managed to put games on my Virgin 8615.

If someone could help me a bit, i could manage to put ringtone and wallpaper im pretty sure.

I would need the complet Tree structure of the Myringtones folder and all the files in it so i could Create the folder from scratch without having to pay 4$ on VXL for a dummy ringtone.

If ppl are interested i could make a faq or something

Hey,

You might want to try turning on the phone first, flip closed, plug cable into the phone and then the cable into the computer...

Set the ports to same as stated in the guide and load up bitpim.

MAKE SURE THERE IS NO OTHER RUNNING VERSION OF BITPIM OR QPST (ID SUGGEST UNINSTALL QPST).

I've been having a problem with my 8910 recently. When I deleted one of my pictures, the phone froze on me and I waited a few mins but nothing seemed to happen. So then eventually I took the battery out as it was the only way of turning the phone off. When I tried to turn it on again, I get a white screen with black text saying, "Please wait, user data is being restore....[3]", then the phone shuts off and reboots itself again in an endless cycle. I can't even get into the main screen either. Does anybody know anything about this or how to fix it?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

On ALLTEL phones, uploading jpegs and wbmp files goes into /BREW/Shared/ then open Axcess, error out, and now you have new backgrounds.

This might work for Verizon as well, since Get It Now! and Axcess are almost the exact same BREW setup.

Did you delete the pic from the phone or from inside BitPIM? I know you cannot delete the files from inside BitPim or else the phone ends up in a loop.

I deleted the picture from the phone. It's strange how it worked fine before and now all of a sudden it just froze and this problem comes up.

So i just got the 8910 from my friend and it is through Virgin Mobile, he gave me the data cable with it and i downloaded BitPim. The program does not detect the phone, and i think its because i dont have drivers installed for the phone. Only thing is i have no clue where to get the drivers because http://vox8910.ca.tt/ does not open on my computer for some reason...so if someone could give me a link for a location to download them, that would be great!

after a year of having a 8900 and using brewsky to upload ringtones and d/l pics i cracked the outside glass so i used the insurance to have the phone replaced with a 8910 i hook up the 8910 to upload a ringtone and the progress bar in brewsky will start to upload then it will stop less than 1/4 in to upload if i try to d/l pics from phone i get reading file:camera/camerainfo.dat but it will not progress i can hookup the 8900 and preform the tasks just fine is there somthing in the 8910 i need to change?
i have tryed many times but never had any luck with getting bitpm to work at all is there any links to other software d/ls that i can try?
Thanks for any help

It's been a while since i've seen this thread, but how do you get the pictures from the camera on your computer with a data cable and bitpim? And how do you add wallpapers?

Posted by: kfosh

I never did wallpaper i used shack cable and brewsky to do tones and d/l pics on the 8900 but with the replacement phone the 8910 brewsky shows to connect to the phone but it kinda stops starts a d/l bar or a upload bar and it will just stop can let it sit 20 min but no progress i think there is a setting in the phone stopping this cause it worked so well on the old 8910 i have never got bitpm to work

Allright, sorry if this is a really dumb question (which I'm sure it is), but I've searched all of HowardForums and Googled the internet and I can't seem to find information on this. I assume all this means it ca't be done, but I'll give it a shot anyway:

What's the word on free WAP access with the 8910?

Posted by: 8910user15650

Ok, Q and A time...

first some A's, lol

All us VERIZON users, we CAN NOT upload games to our phones... Verizon use's BREW (as well as Alltell)... the directions were made for Java handsets... which we CAN NOT use... the only way to upload games to your 8910 is to get one that's not on Verizon or Alltell... sorry!

now, the Q's...

I'm a new 8910 owner, and was reading all the posts... yes, I read them all... and was playing around with the ##xxxx[end] stuff... now, 2 things are really strange.. I can't get Verizon Wireless off my phone (inside and outside)... and when I power down, there's a really strange message... "Saftey - Your Most Important Call"... that's only been on the shut down screen since I messed with the ## stuff... WTF?! :rolleyes2

If anyone knows how to get my "greeting" back on my inside LCD, and the clock back on the outside, PLEASE let me know... and also, how to get rid of that retarded message, lol

Thanks!

Posted by: Cathedral

I have the dreaded 8910 also, and to be honest i have spent too much time seeking info that continues to be unatainable, lol.

I can get the pix off of it using the data cable, i can create and upload my own great quality ringtone mp3's; i'm happy with that.

I can use the phones camera to photograph anything i can see, and use it as a wallpaper, so......we're cool i reckon...

I'm sorry if this is posted somewhere else but i couldn't find it on the search
The phone is currently getting this really really weird error.
It appears impossible to turn off.
If the phone is open the screen is all white with the exception of this error message:

otasp.c 0371300
000000000

if the phone is closed it just displays a white screen on the exterior lcd.
either way it shows that screen about every 5 seconds. It appears perfectly timed.

does anyone know what this means or what to do about it besides taking it in to a verizon store? I would really hate to do that as we live on an island and it is quite costly to go to the main land

No idea what that means, but try and reset the phone to its default settings.

Press [menu] 7,4 then enter your password
Press 6
Select "Yes" or "No" with the navigation key then press [OK].

When you select "Yes" and [OK], you will see "Phone will restore default settings and power-cycle" on the display.

To reset the phone, press [OK].

That's all i have to offer, and it's a page from a manual, lol.
But it worked for me once, haven't needed it again because i'm done 'xperimentin' with this thing.
It rings, sings, and entertains as well as annoys....but time is money and i need it working, lol.

thanks but that didn't seem to do anything, it seems irresponsive to any buttons. I failed to mention this before but the only way to turn it off is by taking out the battery and putting it back in. I guess we will have to take it to verizon

Not to change the subject BUT does anyone have any advice on where (besides the Alltel store) to purchase a replacement battery for my 8910? I want the extended life battery (BTE8610B) but I'm a little leery of some of the sites I've found.
Any help appreciated.

Is there any way to stop taking pictures of the inside of my pocket? I thought ther might be a lockout or something but I can't find one.

Anyone know how much internal memory the 8910 has for wallpaper, photos, graphics and ringtones?

I have access to a Virgin Mobile V7 Flasher and have also set up my own WAP gateway (that I use with my V710 via Verizon). Since the ##BROWSER command seems to be crippled out of the V7 Flasher, it seems there is no direct way to edit the gateway settings, but has anyone hacked on an indirect way? Just thinking out loud here (I don't have a USB cable for the V7 right now), but maybe one of the files you can grab with bitpim has the gateway config in it and you could hack it and copy it back?

I can tell by the errors that are coming back that the phone is 100% capable of doing the entire Internet, they are just blocking most URL's at their WAP gateway. The V7 I'm playing with has a "go to URL" option in the browser menu, but you get a 403 Forbidden for any URL's that aren't part of VM. If the gateway could be changed..........

Anyway, sorry if this is a sore dead subject, but I just thought I'd see if anyone has already tried this route before I waste a bunch of time on it.

Posted by: C. George

Another (possibly dumb) question (so I can get to hacking on this phone), I know in the V710 world we avoid the "FutureDial" type cables that have the little box in the middle of the cable and go with the straight thru cables (to avoid problems with various different software).

I see that with the V7 (looking at eBay auctions) there is the same thing - cables with and without the little box. It would seem that "without" (like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...5783317683&rd=1) is the best plan. Heck that one even charges your phone while it is connected to the USB port.

I want to get to rummaging around this thing in bitpim...

P_REV=1 was developed under an ANSI standards process with documentation reference J-STD-008. J-STD-008, published in 1995, was only defined for the then-new North American PCS band (Band Class 1, 1900 MHz). The term IS-95 properly refers to P_REV=1, developed under the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) standards process, for the North American cellular band (Band Class 0, 800 MHz) under roughly the same time frame. IS-95 offered interoperation (including handoff) with the analog cellular network. For digital operation, IS-95 and J-STD-008 have most technical details in common. The immature style and structure of both documents are highly reflective of the "standardizing" of Qualcomm's internal project.

P_REV=2 is termed Interim Standard 95A (IS-95A). IS-95A was developed for Band Class 0 only, as in incremental improvement over IS-95 in the TIA standards process.

P_REV=3 (ALL DIGITAL) is termed Technical Services Bulletin 74 (TSB-74). TSB-74 was the next incremental improvement over IS-95A in the TIA standards process.

P_REV=4 is termed Interim Standard 95B (IS-95B) Phase I, and P_REV=5 is termed Interim Standard 95B (IS-95B) Phase II. The IS-95B standards track provided for a merging of the TIA and ANSI standards tracks under the TIA, and was the first document that provided for interoperation of IS-95 mobile handsets in both band classes (dual-band operation). PREV=4 was by far the most popular variant of IS-95, with P_REV=5 only seeing minimal uptake in South Korea.

P_REV=6 (1X)and beyond fall under the CDMA2000 umbrella. Besides technical improvements, the IS-2000 documents are much more mature in terms of layout and content. They also provide backwards-compatibility to IS-95.

I've been trying for weeks now and i can't seem to browse the internet using my 8910. I set up free wap on my phone and getting to the google website isn't a problem. i'll type in the address www.airsoftwireless.com/airim/login.wml, and i select the "Mobile Web" option @ google, but all i get is "http error: 404 not found" and this happens with every search i do. Answering my own question here in case someone else has the same question some day.

Not finding any information about the suitability of the cables with vs. without the little box in the middle, I bought one of each off eBay. The one with the little box showed up first, so that's the one I tested first. Installed the drivers, connected the phone, went through the hardware detection dance, and then fired up BitPim. Worked like a charm. Actually read so cleanly that I was able to back up every file on the phone in one shot (something one would only dream of on a V710). When the cable that doesn't have the little box comes in, I'll do a test with it as well and see if it is equally reliable.

OK, so now that I am able to rummage around the phone in BitPim, I looked at all the files and see several places where the data looks a lot like a gateway (due to the 8080 port following the URL). As I'm sure you all know, the Virgin V7 Flasher (I think it's funnier to just call it the Virgin Flasher) doesn't let you do the ##BROWSER thing to reconfigure your gateway, so I'm out to hack it the hard way. To make things a little easier I'm trying to get ahold of a Verizon 8910 so I can dump it with BitPim, then change the gateway, then dump it with BitPim again and see which file changes, and how. Observing this in detail should allow me to then know which file to change on the Virgin Flasher (and how). I'll post my results when I'm done. If anyone has already been down this road, stop me now before I buy a Verizon phone for no good reason.

A Couple of 8910 Questions
------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Sometimes I'm on the phone for 30+ minutes and the keypad/battery gets really hot. Is this normal? Will anything bad happen?

2)I wanna send a picture message to my email...Do i juss send it as a regular msg... juss, instead of typing the phone number in, i change it to 'ABC' and type in the email address

3) Is there nething wrong with using a cingular headset piece for my 8910.

4) (kinda basic question) I have verizon and unlimited 'in messaging'. If i send a txt with pic and music to myself, will i be charged?

thnx

Posted by: criddled456

1. Mine does too.
2. Yes
3. No idea
4. I wouldn't imagine so, but call verizon and ask. It would count as 1 sent and 1 received.

Ok, after researching, looking in the phones menus, and actually testing how much can be uploaded, the phone has approx. 4MB of RAM for ringtones, pictures, AND GetItNow apps...

yea, 4MB isn't alot...

I have 6 Ringers (3 MP3, 3 MIDI), about 30 pictures (most taken from camera, for photo caller ID, about 10 are pic's I've uploaded), MobileIM, and Picster 2.0 GIN apps, and am using about 60%-65% of the RAM... (2.7MB)

Hope this helps!

Ok after 2 months of reading post and trying i can get bitpm to see the file system in my cellular one 8910 i try to add ringtones they showup in the file system but they dont show up on the phone. if i install the ringtones with brewsky they just play a single tone and are not usable. Many weeks ago i got one ringtone in with bitpm and it worked great.and there was one in bitpm that didnot showup on the phone Cleaned it out and was playing with brewsky and it turned the only working tone into a useless tone any ideas on how i can get a few working tones back on this phone?? i had no problems with the 8900 and brewsky for the last 1.5 years. this 8910 is not working out as well. the attachment is the bitpim log
Thanks for any help

Posted by: 8910user15650

first, change your phone to "other CDMA phone"...

second... go to your carriers program thingy... like Verizon's GetItNow... that re-writes the files that tell your phone what ringers and images are in the phone.

Posted by: kfosh

i changed to other cdma phome and nothing worker earlyer But as you said i went to BREW loged in after i was in i loged out and there they were all the ring tones fully working

Thanks so very much

Have you seen a post on d/l pics from phone? under - camera there is camerainfo.dat 3604 camerastate.dat 20 nextphoto.int 4 06/04/05 16:20:07

it was so easy with the last phone and brewsky

not under camera... there are about 10 answers to that question in this thread alone...

it's under BREW>JPEG>

EDIT: Whoa... 00:00 post time... sweet, lol

Posted by: 8910user15650

haha, figured this one out all on my own...

for those who say their ringers aren't working... press and hold the * key... that turns Etiquette Mode on/off...

was out with a friend today, and she turned it on... didn't know why none of my ringers were working... then I remembered that...

even in Menu>6>Sounds they won't play if Etiquette Mode is on...

hope this helps a few people...

Hey guys. My ex girlfriend and I both have 8910s and I have a problem. She had a lock on her phone so I connected it with the data cable and deleted all the pictures and text messages from me that were on there.

Well when I gave her the phone back, she said it didn't work anymore. I checked it out and there is no way you can tell it's on because the screen is off and so are the sounds. Sometimes you can tell because the keys light up but that's not all the time.

When it is on, you can dial out but you cant hear the other person, or anything for that matter. It looks like youre trying to use a phone that is powered off. And you can't receive calls.

I've been messing around with the phone on BitPim. I tried adding the pictures back but the phone is still the same. Would I be able to copy all the files from my phone to hers to get it to work?

Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks.

Posted by: 8910user15650

I'm going out on a branch here... you took your GF's phone, and deleted crap on it since she had it locked, and you wanted to know what was on there. Now that you really pooched the hell out of it, you want us to help you fix it...

My suggestion, take it back to your carrier's store (Verizon/Sprint/Nextel), tell tell them you have NO idea what happened to it... feel free to use this script...

"Hi, my name's xxxxxxx. I got this phone (how ever long you've had it), and it's been working fine, but last night, when I turned it on, nothing happened. I tried to take the battery out, and it still wouldn't turn on. Can you see what's wrong with it?"

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT tell them you have a data cable, and DO NOT tell them you did anything to it... if you do, you've just screwed yourself, so enjoy it, cause your GF won't be doing it anymore, since you screwed up her phone because you were nosey...

If your lucky enough to have Verizon, they'll just give you a new phone...

And this time, don't screw with it... if you really want to see what's on it, and she has it locked, either ask her for the code, or type in #5625*<END> and that will unlock the phone for you...

I have a Audiovox 8910 with Verizon, I bought a data cable on ebay and downloaded bitpim. so I get the drivers to work and the cables and everything, and takes a few times, but I was able to upload an mp3 onto my phone and it was working. Well yesterday I turned off my phone and now when I turn on my phone it gets stuck on the Verizon wireless banner at startup and won't load. I tried to plug in the data cable but my computer says it cant find a driver even though I installed the Curitel driver. so I unistalled bitpim and the driver and reinstalled the driver and still isnt working. I am afraid that i ruined my phone please tell me i didnt. It was workng till I turned off my phone and now its not working.

Posted by: 8910user15650

take it back to Verizon, and play dumb... you don't have a data cable... and you don't know what happened... it just stopped working...

they'll give you a new one.. .but say goodbye to any pictures, ringtones, and maybe even your phonebook...

Posted by: C. George

Just a heads up that the authors of BitPim expressly warn against using it with the Audiovox 8910. According to them the file system of the phone is too "fragile" and the phone is prone to becoming trashed and needing replacement.

I've used BitPim to read from the 8910 quite a bit, but have been afraid to try to write anything to it so far due to that warning.

P.S. In an earlier post I said I'd post and report of the "straight through" USB cable worked as well with the 8910 as the one with the little box in the middle. I have now tested the straight through cable and (just like with the other cable) I was able to read and backup the entire filesystem using BitPim. Can't ask for much more than that.

Posted by: 8910user15650

C. George, just to let you know, I've been playing with my filesystem almost every day since I got my data cable... (about 3 weeks now)... I've gone through about 500 diff MP3 ringtones, lol

It hasn't effected me at all... I don't think you have to worry much... and anyway, if it messes up, all ya got to do is take it back to verizon, and play dumb... they'll hand you a brand new one...

I have an 8910 through Cellular One in South Dakota. I bought a USB data cable with CDs on ebay a couple weeks ago and cannot get it to work. When I plug the cable in, my computer tells me that the usb device is not recognized, and when i manually try to install the drivers, none of them will work. I have tried the drivers from the CD and the Curitel ones. If someone can tell me how to get the drivers to work or anything else that I should try, it would be greatly appreciated. All I really want to do is get my pictures off my phone and maybe put a midi ringer or two on it.

Joe

Posted by: arkboy1

Joe, if I may, sell your data cable and software on ebay and just message your pictures to yourself and find some website that has free ringtones, or pay the 6 bucks a month and get a bunch of ringtones. If you really want to use the data cable i would suggest unistalling the drivers and software you bought, unplug the data cable and phone, and restart your computer, then reinstall your drivers, then go online find the driver website and update them, then plug in your data cable. Make sure you do it afterwards. I was having problems with my phone and data cable, and finally made it work, i was able to download a song on to my phone, it worked and one night i turned off my phone and it didnt turn on again. Im lucky cause i have verizon so i just went to the store and told them i dont know what happened and they gave me a new one, but i wont be using the data cable unless i know the software works with my phone. Just be really careful, I know that the software warns you, I ignored it and figured id be one of the phones that worked, but it didnt. So just be careful, I dont know what cingulars return policy is now that they are mixed with att I know there customer service is bad.

Some information for those comparing 8910 to 8900 settings.

typical generic 8900 settings are:

ringers: /user/sound/ringer/ (mytone.mid or mytone.mp3)
wallpaper: /brew/shared/images/ (my_image.jpg)
camera (pix): /camera/photo/ (photo_00xx.jpg)

typical generic 8910 settings are:

ringers: /user/sound/ringer/ (mytone.mid or mytone.mp3)
wallpaper: /brew/shared/ (my_image.jpg)
camera (pix): /brew/shared/jpeg (photo_00xx.jpg)

This means that those using Brewsky 8900 will only be able to see their ringtones, and not wallpaper or camera pics on an 8910.. (you will need BitPim for this) Hence the reason is is best to initialize a wallpaper seed file.

If you accidently delete all your cam pics with BitPim and can no longer take cam pics, you can reinitialize it by uploading a small (photo_0001.jpg) file to the appropriate directory, take a cam pic on the phone, then delete all pics thru the handset. THEN do not ever use BitPim to delete cam pics again!!!
---
Typically it is best to find a seed file (free download) download for ringers and wallpapers to initialize their functions and then you can use BitPim to copy back and forth.

Always, either turn-off the handset and turn back on, or go to your respective (Brew, Clicks, or Get-it) function menu to force the handset to recognize new files. It's just a good practice, and allows the phone to function properly.

Keep copies of All original material on the phone... This may save you a trip to the phone store and $$$ to replace the handset or lost apps.

If you buy a USB data cable, make sure you have a proper driver for it! Don't wait til you're stuck and waste bandwidth here griping to everyone else about it!

Don't take any wooden nickels!

NOW... Does anyone want to tell me which directory animation files are supposed to be in, if they worked?

And it would be nice if you could send images, and not just cam pics... Why have a send function if it doesn't apply?

Okay, sorry if I've missed this somewhere else. I've read every post I can find (lots) and tried all and still can't seem to get this to work.

I have free WAP working on my LGvx6000 and right now I have the same exact settings put in my wife's Audiovox 8910. When I launch the browser, though, I get a message that says, "For wireless internet services, please dial *611".

Is there a setting I've missed, or has Verizon actually totally disabled free WAP via the 8910?

Second question...

My main purpose in enabling free WAP is to redirect her PIX messaging to my MMS Diary app and avoid the $0.25 per message that Verizon charges. It's working great from my LGvx6000 by changing the MMSC Server and Upload Address. Where do I find these settings on the 8910?

BTW, I'm using a serial cable from Gomadic.com that I bought for my LGvx6000 to connect bitpim to the 8910 and it's working great. Just gotta change the port to RS232C (##7678END). Requires absolutely no drivers to be installed. Can only use the browse file system function, but that's sufficient to get the camera pix off the phone, which is what we wanted.
