Though, this won't actually give you any useful information unless it has been activated to acquire a reading. To do this, try dialing 922, which is (usually) the emergency test number for most cell providers, and stay on the line for 5 to 10 seconds. In my area, I hear a radio station when I call this number. After you hang up, run the GPS test app (##GPS1), and check the results. It might not be very accurate if it couldnt get very good reception, but I did get it to track down my house perfectly (which has 5 bars of reception all the time). |

I bet you any amount of money, theres a way to get a VM 8910 on Vzw.(change the firmware) Someone try this. Put a non-oem faceplate on the VM 8910. goto a verizon store that flashes phones. ask them to do a firmware upgrade on your phone. when you get home, you can put the phone on your existing verizon account, or creat a new post paid or pre-paid account. Im 99.9% sure this will work |

His cousin works at a VZW store. We had him flash the phoen with the VZW software and activate it on his account..and guess what, IT WORKED!!

![]() Don't get me wrong, it's welcome news if a VM 8910 can be activated on VZ with full service, but you're the first I've heard of that has done it. Others have just got the firmware on the phone. As far as the caps go, someone with more experience in cell flashing than I, stated the placement was crucial, and you can clearly see a difference in the FCC photos between the PCB revisions. If VZ f/w works on a VM 8910, then that's fantastic, but I doubt the changes are purely cosmetic. Most people don't open their phones to see how pretty they are. ![]() Could you take some pictures of the Flasher LCD while browsing a current news WAP site or something? I think that would put this matter to rest. ![]() |

I have tried other versions of the Curitel software and all I get is :unable to connect to phone". I have also tried Bitpim, FutureDial, as well as a few others. I cannot get my phone to connect to them. What are my options? What do I need to download so that i can add ringtones and pix? I take alot of pix of my son on my phone and would love to be able to get them off of it. I don't use the internet from my phone, nor do i have a text message plan. Figured why spend a monthly fee when i could do it this way, but since this way isnt working, i may go that route it no one can give me any help. I would appreciate email responses, due to the fact that this is a HUGE thread and really hate trying to sift thru the unneeded info looking for viable info. My email is rustyking3 at gmail.com. I would greatly appreciate any help or any light someone canshed on my situation. Thanks Rusty |

I can't get my phone to connect with BitMip or PC Sync or anything. When I plug the cable in I just get my computer telling me it found new hardware. When I click on it, it wants a hardware update. Well when I try that..nothing really happens. When I tell it to get the hardware from a specific location, like I tell it to go to the Curitel folder with the Curitel Packet Service, my computer tells me that if I keep installing it it may mess up my computer now or eventually. None of those websites where its supposed to explain how to get your phone connected to a program has worked for me. They won't load at all. |
