It no longer turns on. Do all the leds have to be in place before the phone will work? None of the LEDs I got worked, then my phone wouldn't turn on. I took all the LEDs out to see if that would fix it. No luck

Do the LEDs have to be there to complete the circut?
Can I buy another circut board anywhere?

help....

Man, that sucks!

thats exactly why i dont want to mod my phone(s) myself.

Good luck, sorry i cant help.

Ask Dr. Dave, or Nokialight_com, they know what they're talking about.

Ouch! That's why I don't mod my own phones either..... until I get another one that is.... then this one (3360) will be modded!

Check that there's no solder bridges between the LED's you installed and the metal frame. The hot side of the LED's are run off the battery rail in the phone (through a driver chip) and if they're shorted the phone won't start, but likely there's no permanent damage. And of course, shorts to any of the components around it.

Actually I'm assuming that you installed LED's... maybe you can be a bit more specific as to what you did, including bridging if you did that too, the size of the LED's, and if you did any cage cutting?

The other thing to check, offhand, is that the battery contacts are good and solid against both the battery and the board.

And no, the LED's don't have to be installed for the phone to work. They're pretty much on an independent circuit internally. In fact, I'm hotwiring some phones right now for a display where the lights stay on all the time...

Dave,

Thanks so much for your help. I ordered the LEDs from cellphoneshop.net. I'm not sure what size they are, but I didn't have enough so I got some more at my local Flea Market. Anyway, I thought I would start easy. So I just worked on the LCD lights. the 4 on either sode. I followed the directions explicitly from nokialight.com.

Anyway, the LEDs I got from cellphoneshop didn't have metal hooks like the Nokia ones, and appeared the right size. The lack of hooks made it difficult, but It looked fine. anyway, I put those in and the LEDs didnt' work. Even tho everything looked fine.

Then I thought maybe I blew the LEDs, so I tried the others from the Flea Market. these was much smaller then the others, and that made things tough. But I got them in there. Still no luck. The phone worked for most of the evening, but then just sorta quite. (with no LEDs) It was off, which is strange cause I rarely runthe battery dead. I charged in and it seemed to work for awhile, then went dead again. It wouldn't turn back on, and when I put the charge in, it wouldn't show the charger icon.

I decided to remove all the LEDs. No luck. So that's the story. One thing I did notice is that the little spots where the LEDs contact the board (little piece of metal) seemed to come off after messing with it so many times...

If you have any suggestins I would really appreciate it. I hope I can repair the damage. I should have left this to the professionals.

Did/do the keypad lights still work, and did you do anything to them?

It sounds to me like there's a short on the hot side of the LED supply, or on the internal circutry of the board. Enough that it drained the battery and is preventing the phone from charging properly.

(LOL - I know this sounds pretty obvious, but on the bright side there may be no permanent damage.)

Actually everything worked fine after the first attempt. (except for the LCD lights obviously) I was content to just let it be, but then it stopped all together! I didn't touch anything except the LCD lights. (no cutting, bridging) Sounds like a short. Is there a way to really get all the saulder(sp?) off the board?

The metal rail which runs all the way around the board did get covered in saulder, does that affect the supply? There may be some saulder touching the cage. I will check.

Best cheap way is to run out to an electronics store and get some solder wick. That works about as good as any, and a lil' roll is only a couple of bucks.

Dave. You rock! Thanks so much for the tip. The phone is now charging. That wick works like a charm. I which I had had it when I started, and I wouldn't have gotten into this mess.

Anyway, I am very content now, even though my phone has no LCD lights, it works. And that's all I really need.

Thanks again. I hope it stays working...
