USB Cable Problem between two VX6100 Phones Help!!

I upgraded both my phone and my wifes phone from VX-10 to VX6100. I bought an LG USB cable and downloaded the software and BITPIM.

I can do everything with my wifes phone (uploaded a contact and a ringer sucessfully)

But even with all the software drivers in place (confirm wifes phone works, unplug it and plug in my phone) and my phone does not show up an active USB port in BITPIM. Her's shows up as COM4 under the active ports.

I have gone through the phones and tried to make all of the data settings the same with no luck.

Do I just have a BAD phone, one withe a bad data connection on the bottom? Think I'll call Verizon tomorrow.

Any other suggestions?

When you unplug your wife's phone and then plug in yours, have you closed out the program first before unplugging/plugging either phone? Maybe the program needs to refresh itself and isn't smart enough to do it without a restart. If that doesn't work, try a reboot on your computer. Do you always plug in your wife's phone first or sometimes do you plug in your phone first? If it's the former, then the above scenario may be the case; if it's the latter, it may be something wrong with your phone. Or it may be your cable...is your USB cable one of the $0.99 ebay cheapos or is it a higher quality one? I've had problems with cheap cables in the past not working because they looked fine but were so cheaply made that they didn't work properly. If you bought a cheapy, the end that connects with the phone is probably the culprit. Try wiggling it around or holding it together a bit more firmly to see if the contacts hold better on your phone.

Bitpim stores all the info you GET from phones on your computer. Close the program, hook up the other phone. Restart the program. If it has a problem, go into edit / settings / click on the browse button to make sure its connected as the right com port.

UPDATE

Verizon sent me another VX6100 phone and the new one syncs perfectly.

I had a bad phone to start with.
