don't listen/watch/read the news too much, but did cingular wireless and t-mobile merge? when i jump to the phone option in my SKII i used to see T-Mobile under the PHONE text. now it's Cingular Wireless.

Are you in South Carolina by any chance?
That just indicates that you are roaming. As long as you have a NationWide plan you don't need to worry about roaming the USA.
Do a Manual Network Selection:

Go to the Network Selection group box. The Scan and Select Manually button is highlighted by default. Simply press the wheel to start the scan.

When the available network(s) have been located, you'll see the Choose Network dialog box. Press the wheel to open the pop-up menu.

Scroll to highlight the network you want to switch to, then press the wheel to select it. Select Done .

Note: It is also from this screen that you set your device to scan for networks automatically.

Once your device has connected to the network you selected, the Network screen will reflect your selection.
And Change it back to t-mobile.

You must be in So Cal or Nevada. That happens to me all the time. It’s normal. T mobile and Cingular shares the same towers (RF) but they run different networks. Sometimes the SK get confused I guess. When I first power up my SK it always says Cingular and then switches T-Mobile. Nothing to worry about
