does he have the Motorola MPx300 yet?
If so, how much?

Posted by: paulesport

No he sells Imate phones only.

Posted by: NooM

If you don't want a PDA to your face and just want a regular phone with tons of functionality, get the MPX 220. Although it doesn't have Wi-Fi integrated, it supports miniSD/IO cards [once they are created].

Bluetooth, IR, Email, megapixel camera, etc, the whole shabang.

You can use the Wifi card, but when are they going to come out with a wifi card that doesn't stick out of the phone? I would get the JAM instantly if it had wifi. But I don't want to have a stupid SanDisk card sticking an inch and a half out of the phone!!

I had a Treo 600 previously. Even a normal SD memory card stuck out a fraction of an inch. It was annoying. Everytime I put it in my pocket the card would get bumped and comeout.

Posted by: inspectagadget

I agree w/ johnnie.... why can't they make a friggin PDA (jam) with wifi? WTH! it's starting to piss me off.

Posted by: mch

The Nokia 9500 has Wifi

I'd rather have Symbian anyway.

Posted by: johnannie

Yeah, the 9500 would be great if I wanted to look like a moron talking into my television remote control!!!

The 9500 is retarded looking. -It really does look like a TV remote! If I wanted to carry that **** thing around I'd simply carry a phone & a pda!

It runs Windows, so make a guess.

Posted by: Quatre

The Mpx220 is kinda old now and just overall not that great. Its screen is lacking and you really want at least a 240x320 qvga screen like the SE s710a and the Sanyo MM-5600 but I'd have to say the baddest all around phone is the
MPx 300. yes its a pda phone but with really no form drawback like the candy bar Treo and other pda phones.

Its a dual hinged flip phone in other words it flips like a normal clamshell phone and then flips lengthwise for pda action.

Only thing is moto seems to not be up on the 240x320 qvga screens for their flip phones and though the mpx300 is that size or larger i think , its also only 65k colors though. but i'm sure the screen is still really nice and the fact that the phone has everything else and dual hinge form factor.

It is definately the baddest phone.
available for import and hopefully soon to the usa.

Posted by: johnannie

The MPX certainly had ("HAD" being the keyword here) -the potential of being the baddest phone. Awesome design with the dual hinge. BUt I have read nothing but poor reviews for it on this forum. The software apparently needs a lot of tweaking/hacks to get it to work properly. It only has 32 MB RAM!!!!! Come on. That's retarded.

I was waiting for the MPX for almost a year -I finally gave up after the release date was pushed back indefinitely. I just ordered a JAM and can't wait. From what I've read here in HoFo, it's the best PDA/Phone on the market.
-Just my 2cents worth.

Posted by: Drawde

Yeah, I was looking at it myself and couldn't find any good reviews about. Its ok, only days before I get my 850mhz i-mate jam!!

that form factor of the imate jam with the exposed screen doesnt' seem worth it and no wifi. Also if you order from that guy its cheaper with contract with tmobile and some say the version he sells doesn't have the freq. to work on cingular and who wants tmob?

Posted by: paulesport

www.dweiniger.com DOES sell the JAM in 900 version and 850 version....both can be used with Tmobile and Cingular but the 850 is just better version for Cingular customers

oh I see 850 is better for Cingular I see. Yeah i remember the cingular guy telling me that. they are cool about activating any import they said just make sure it has 850.

Man i dunno. So you guys seem to think that the mpx 300 isnt worth waiting for because while the dual hinge is cool the phone just is low on mem and buggy in other ways.

To me whatever it is , is worth it because i like flip phones and dont want to hold a pda to my face.

But I do need to upgrade my pda nad woulnd't mind the all in one device and according to ppl who seem to know their stuff it is the best.

I'm not just not completely sold or convinced and sure. I've been wanting to port to cingular for the right phone as I dont need both cdma carriers but not sure which to drop. sprint with its sanyo exclusive and ptt and great pic mail and vision internet/web or vzw with EV-DO.

any suggestions?

also will monkey boy or anyone sell the 850 version jam for cheaper with new cingular contract like he did with the other version and tmob?????/

You guys really think the jam is worth it and better hten any other phone out or coming or importable.

Better then the Sharp TM-200, Mitsu m900 and NEC n840, Mpx 300, Sanyo Mm-5600, SE s710a, LG vx8001, Moto E815 etc?

better then treo 650?

Don't do the treo 650..my friend has it. The camera is sooo bad (lots of noise), its hard to navigate the internet, and its kinda ugly. lol

The JAM has only 64MB but can be upgraded to 128MB(though it will terminate your warranty), and its not like putting a PDA to your face becuz its smaller than a PDA...which was the factor i was looking at. I dont want a huge PDA to my ear either...just read http://geek.com/hwswrev/pda/jam/index.htm for a great review or http://www.mobile-review.com/pda/re...gician-en.shtml
or bengalboy's review http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...15&pagenumber=1
and you'll see what everyone is talkin bout...

Posted by: johnannie

I agree, no one wants to put a PDA up to their ear. But the JAM is slightly smaller than an IPOD. That's pretty **** small.

Posted by: Levent

Jam is not a bad choice as a phone and pda if you consider its price.

Posted by: 10651

The jam is cool but I think if I had the money I would get the mpx300, I dunno why maybe because its more built to be a phone then pda.

Posted by: johnannie

Yeah, the mpx would be nice if it actually worked properly and didn't have a crippling amount of RAM. It's also about $400 - $500 over priced at the moment in my opinion.

Just got my MPX 300 and I am loving it
no glitches so far. I have a laptop in my hand and I'm on the phone at the same time.

Its not available in stores
$1400.

sounds good. I thought the version that was out didn't have 850mhz. But according to you and this reseller it does so that will be great for cingular.

My SE s710a is on its way and i'm trying out the Treo 650 on my last days with Sprint and I love it especially for web and to replace my pam m515. Its a little wierd to hold to your ear as a phone but i use the speaker a lot. I think the Mpx 300 will be perfect as a phone and pda with teh dual hinge form, but i'm skeptical about overpaying to import it if it really is coming out in the u.s for cingular in early summer.

Also i've heard they may fix/improve a few things. maybe more ram.. is it still just 16mb?

Anyway, it seems to be a highly scammed phone as anything in demand with rip off artists.

Upon emailing one guy who had it for sale on ebay he emailed me a few times and was selling to me for $300 and then even dropped to $250 wheni was hesitant. He was shipping from europe where its easy to rip someone off and not get caught so its 99.9 % chance he was scamme especially at that too good to be true price. but that .1% doubt had me tempted at the price.

Now there is this other seller who had an ebay deal and has a site also selling the Mpx300 as well as the Moto 1150 or whatever it is, the one that looks like the next razr.

Their price is a little higher but still well below 1400. Here is an email from the guy also with an aol email like the previous scammer. i dont remember what i said that he wrote what he did but it was prob something to the affect of mentioning the other guy selling for less and if the version he was selling has 850.

"Dear Valued Costumer,

This Motorola Mpx300 that we currently have in stock is quad band:
GSM 850/ GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900.
If you want to buy the phone from those sellers please be my guest but after you will get burned please email me and let me know if I am right.

Thank you anyway.
Regards

www.Shopping-Easy-Center.com"

so what do you guys think? Is this seller and site legit? If nothing else check out the site for a nice big pic of the 1150 razr part 2 phone.

Posted by: johnannie

I have read about these guys before. It's a scam. It's not hard to upload a "Fake" website. $499 for an MPX.... yeah right.

So I guess the guy emailing me from ebay with the aol address offering me the Mpx 300 for $300 adn then $250 was also definately a theif.

Why is this phone so highly scammed?

Because lots of people want this phone and you can't get it in stores so it's a perfect scam cause of the demand.

The guys I deal with from cell tec I know, see and can talk to everyday. If I need anything, questions they are there for me I have their personal cell phone numbers.

I love my Mpx 300.

I though it would be confusing but because it runs microsoft windows, It like having my computer at my fingertips.

Think about this,
I needed a phone, a palm, an mp3 player a protable DVD player
a degital camera and a laptop.

the price is right for me beause I know people with all that and it dones not fit into their hands.,

I will pay the extra to know she sellers I am dealing with and have them help me when I have questions,

Heck, the MPX 220 is better than all of the phones listed above [only treo 650 and MPX300 could surpass it featurewise]. Most of those have one great particular feature, but fail to surpass the mpx220 on the rest. The Sanyo Mm-5600 doesn't even let you put things other than MP3 into your phone, the Sharp TM-200's only big feature is its 2 Megapixel camera. Don't even start me with the Moto E815 [which isn't even out] or the garbage that NEC is known for. Even when Verizon's LG Vx8001 comes out, it will still fall back to a smartphone.

The important word here is smartphone, which only a pocketpc-like device can beat it. The multimedia capabilities of a smartphone is the same of a PC, while a regular phone would hardly support more than three different type of formats for audio and video. The Megapixel camera is just a plus here. None of those phones have the ability to play DOOM 3D perfectly, or perfectly emulate a SUPERNES/NES/GAMEBOY/GENESIS/N-Gage, and definitely hardly any of them support fan-made third party apps.

The fact that the MPX 220 also has Bluetooth 1.2 [not crippled down like the Moto E815 or v710], IR, Support for Wi-Fi, External Color Screen, Speakerphone, Megapixel camera, Unlimited video recording [as opposed to your 15 sec. limit on the Sanyo 5600 you listed] and mini-SD support just make it all a better phone than all the other phones that have some of this features, and even with all of these phone features they still lack the PDA features on them.

Ok,

have you heard about the Moto A1010
That the next phone on my redar.

I still love my MPX 300 but the Moto A1010 due out this fall comes with video conferencing.,

Its hard not to question your biasness being that it looks like a Moto mpx220 is your main phone. I'm not saying mpx220 is bad and I am still interested in it even though it is not new at all anymore and in fact discontinued from cingular site and amazon doesnt' sell either. There must be a reason for this.

Also, a very important feature to me is a nice 240x320 or larger qvga screen that most of those phones I listed have and the mpx220 does not. How can you have a smartphone with all that capability and then a small inferior screen for viewing it all.

I have the se s710a and a treo 650 as well as a moto v710. I do not have a smartphone or pocketpc phone as the treo is palm based which i think is more stable especialy for a phone but i'm thinking about the 220 before its really impossible to find and discontinued as i think some stores still have it left but ....

Is it really honestly worth it and a great all around phone or are you just super bias and convincing yourself you have the best phone?

Is it worth getting with the far superior Mpx300 which matches it and beats it in every way? If the mpx300 was a long way off maybe but i just feel like its too close to coming out in the states to bother picking up an mpx220 at this point.

Also I'm not sure it is the Moto 1010 is the model # of the new razr like phone coming out or not but either way that is also another great gsm moto phone to look forward too so I dont want to end up with too many moto flip phones as I already have one in the v710 which I actually like a lot and I like to have a variety of phones from diff manufac and form factor hence the main 3 i use now all being very different and complimenting eachother well.

Posted by: janadian

The MPX 300 will not be launched in North America
When did you hear it was comming to the US?

It's no longer on the Moto web site.

It is a great phone, need more memory but that can be compensated for with a 1G SD card

The moto A1010 is not the new razer, it should be out this fall.

Good luck with your search for the baddes phone

Posted by: dubsb

The Mpx 220 was my second moto phone...and what a piece of crap. Quirky phone that internet access only worked the first 30 seconds after a reboot and if you want email, forget it. The Mpx 300 (or whatever its gonne be called next week still has the same old charging port that moto is famous for failing miserably, i wouldnt but it simply due to that. moto=junk my Mpx220 is me newest expensive paperweight.

It was pulled from cingular, amazon, and all support was killed by moto, no more flash update no nothing.

Why isnt it being sold ? Because its a piece of crap that would have been promising has they taken a few more steps to actually try to have a product that customers would get use out of.

Im back to my old reliable siemens s56 that still wont die with contact sync, Bluetooth and IR until a reliable WiFi solution is found for the treo 650, siemens brings out their m75, or i convince myself that i dont mind having the imate with the sandisk wifi card hanging out.

~~my 2 cents, but with inflation thats at least 3 bucks !

Posted by: janadian

Thanks for the 2 cents.

You must know how much I payed for the phone and it's nice you would like to contirbute to my I need to pay my debts fund.

I have had not problems with my Mpx 300.
'
I solved the memory problem getting a 1G. card.

All features work well for me and I love being the only one in city with one. '

I've never hand anything but a moto phone.

My next one is the A1010.

No reviews yet.

Posted by: dubsb

The Mpx 300 was supposed to be the best of the best.

Since you have it what dont you like about it that would make you wanna upgrade ?

It still has the old motorols charging port on it right ?

The Wifi works good ?

Whenever you get time post a review and some picks pleeze
