Hi, I've just bought my first mobile phone and was wondering if carrying the phone (when on standby) and my credit cards near each other could damage the cards. As a woman I would normally carry both in my bag, we don't have all the pockets that men have! Thanks.

You shouldn't have any problems, I keep my cell phone (a real old Qualcomm 2700) and my wallet close by, often stacked on one another, and I haven't had any problems. Even if your magnetic stripe were to get "erased" a merchant with one of those swipe terminals can always enter your card number and expiry date manually via the keypad.
