PS: These files have been scanned for viruses, but it wouldn't hurt for you to scan them again before running them on your computer!

I was in the same boat and the guy on eBay never responded to my emails. His ad specifically said the GX-32 software would work with the TM150. Lies.

You would not believe the hoops I had to jump through to obtain this software!

Enjoy.

Posted by: brazengrrl

Can someone explain to me what this is for? I just got my TM150 today and want to know what I can do with it.

Mod Edit:

Are you trying to get yourself banned?

Posted by: whodatfever

Will this software allow me to enable an "active flip" feature? Just curious since I am pulling my hair out over that crap.

Also-does anyone else hear a faint, high pitched tone when they put their phone to their ear? I'm wondering if it's my brain or the handset.

Thank you for any response.

Arent you a positive force on this board............

The software is the application that goes with the data cable. You do not need it for general use because the phone has an SD Card and you can do almost everything with that.

If you do get it though, and the USB cable then this is what it does for you:

1. It has USB and modem drivers so you can use your phone as a modem. GPRS isn't that fast though so don't expect wireless broadband!
2. The app allows you to move sound files, pictures and videos to and from the phone to your PC. It also includes a simple picture editor and midi organizer.
3. You can send and receive SMS with it (if you really want).

IMO, the only reason to use the SW is for the USB drivers so you can use the phone as a modem. But for most people you don't need it.

Im kind of new to this cell phone modem thing. How exactly does that work? Do i need to have tzones so i can have unlimited internet access on my computer if i connect it with my phone. Are there any limits, to stay on , download, etc.? Thanks

Posted by: Scottishlassie

I just got my TM150 yesterday. How would I go about finding a data cable in my area? Or is this one of those things that I can only get from ordering online? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Posted by: MediaGuru

T-Mobile actually sells the cables and software as a TM150 accessory on their web site. Or you can buy the cable by itself on the Internet, e.g. eBay. I recommend getting the GX32 USB cable, should be about $10. Note that the GX32 software will NOT work with the TM150 becuase the USB drivers are different. You need to download the official TM150 software.
If you actually want to use the phone as a modem, you'll need unlimited tzones from T-Mobile. It used to be free but they tightened up. The official software has a modem installation wizard and is very straight forward. There's lots on info on the Internet on how to connect to GPRS but it's just like doing a dial up networking session. Speed will be similar to a 56k modem in the best of circumstances. Doing a VPN is a bad idea, too slow. Browsing the web and email is OK.

My tmobile company store sells data kits for the TM150...usb data cable and correct software. i think its 39.99. only select direct stores received these.

Posted by: Scottishlassie

I bought the data cable and software tonight at my local T-Mobile store for $49.99. The T-Mobile website had it for $51.99.

Posted by: fatherbrew

can we transfer games with the data cable?

Posted by: Scottishlassie

I don't think so. I tried with my new cable last night and it wouldn't work. I could be wrong though.

Posted by: MediaGuru

No you can't transfer games. The only way to put games onto the phone is via WAP. There's a few postings already on how to do that on this and other forums.

THANKS AGAIN MEDIA GURU

Posted by: skil1s

So if I download the software, I can just buy the data cable? On ebay the charge a bundle for the cd plus software.

Posted by: fatherbrew

i really think you are better off with a memory stick (SD) you can transfer games, pic, and sounds with the memory card and guess what you also get more memory up to 1 gig
IF SOMEONE FINDS OUT SOME EXTRA PERKS WITH THE DATA CABLE PLEASE POST.
i have software downloaded but have not been able to run it because i do not have data cable yet.

Simple answer: Yes, just buy the cable and download the software.

Watch out: You can't transfer games with the card or the cable, you have to upload them to a webserver and then download them to the phone via the browser. It's an attempt by the carrier to prevent copying.

I too think that the card is the way to go - you get one with the phone so just buy a simple SD USB card reader. The only reason you might want a USB cable is to be able to use the phone as a modem for wireless net access. Don't forget that you'll need to sign up for unlimited tzones on T-Mobile to use it though.

There may be another reason to get the cable and appropriate software/application. To synchronize the phone book. The TM150 allows one to store 3 phone numbers address etc. Its going to be a pain to enter all that on the phone.

I plan to use my TM150 as a mini-PDA also, and will be buying the cable from ebay and using the downloaded software. I was thinking whether to spend $50 or not for a minor use as sync'ing phonebook but for $10 of cable from Hong Kong/ Singapore, I think it is worth it.

Of course, for pictures/videos, SD card is the way to go. I typically switch off the phone to remove/insert the card. Is this required? Can I remove/insert the SD card in the phone with the phone turned on?

I see that Sharp has updated their TM150 web site and the software is now on there too:

Excuse my lack of knowlege here, but what is RF connector?

Posted by: agaurav

where did you read "RF connector"? in any case, RF connector is a small socket/plug to connect an external RF device (an antenna in most cases) to the phone. RF stands for radio-frequency and the phones use RF to communicate with the base station.

a lot of phones provide a small RF connector (a small roundish socket) to connect an external antenna should there be any need to do so.

How do I change my memory card? If i needed to transfer data from the memory card to my computer, do i need a special cord or would the usb do the job?

Posted by: agaurav

you cannot insert the memory card into the PC/laptop directly, at least not for most PCs as yet.

you need to get a "card reader" there are plenty available some take 4-7 different type of cards (compact flash, sony memory stick, secure digital etc.). you put this card reader in the usb slot of PC/laptop and the the memory card into the card reader.

of course, you need to remove teh card from the phone.

the other option is to use the USB data cable.

i hope this clarifies.

Posted by: Scottishlassie

agaurav- I've seen RF Connector in my TM150 manual and I saw it in the link that MediaGuru provided above.

My laptop allows me to insert a memory card into it. I use it for the memory card for my TM150 and my IPaq.

Posted by: MediaGuru

RF = radio frequency. I'm not sure why you asked but there you go. The RF connector on the TM150 is on the back, just below the aerial covered with a plastic plug.

Posted by: Scottishlassie

No particular reason for asking about what RF was. I just couldn't find a definition of what it was in the manual and was curious. I thank all of you for educating me though!

This is part of the reason I got the phone. My GF bought me the HP 7960 Photosmart printer which accepts SD cards. I can xfer files to the computer and print out pics within minutes.

Is anyone else having a problem with the handset manager connecting to the phone? I've followed the order of installation and my computer can't see the phone.

Posted by: MediaGuru

I'll assume you followed the pop up box that you get telling you to put the phone into the connection mode. If so, then it's probably a COM port problem. (This has to be a FAQ for all Sharp phones, I swear!)
Load up the TM150 Handset Manager software and click the middle blue button (with the three lines) on the top left and choose Interface Setup. Make sure that the COM port listed there is the same one as Windows thinks the TM150 is on. You can check the COM port number by using the Device Manager in Windows. (Control Panel->System->Hardware tab->Device Manager then look under Ports)
Once they are set the same, you might have to restart the software. It should connect after a few moments.

Posted by: skil1s

these instructions seem to be pretty hard to follow. I got the program running but it tells me that its connecting to my phone but it never actually connects. Is there another program that I could use to import ringtones? BTW does this phone accept mp3s or cuz it sems to play medi but I could be wrong.

Posted by: groggy23

I have a data cable on the way that I bought from about 6 bucks on ebay. Are there no mac versions for this? I would like to use my TM150 as a modem w/ my lap mac when I go on trips. However I do not see any mac versions.

Yes, you can remove the card while the phone is on. It's "hot-swappable"

I've done all that and still nothing has worked?

edit // nevermind. works great. having a ball right now. i'm still curious however, the Handset Manager doesn't access the SDcard does it?

Posted by: MediaGuru

Nope it doesn't, just the internal phone memory. I'm hoping that Sharp just does away with this software in the future and moves to a USB drive type connection. That'd simplify everything and make it compatible with Mac and Linux too.

Why don't you just get a SD reader?

HELP!!

Ok, I read this forum, and decided if all I got to use the software for was to upload my phone list, it would be worth it.

I run the software and at the point that I am supposed to plug in my phone... and WinXP is SUPPOSED to say hey you have new hardware connected... I get this message:

"One of the USB Devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message".

Basically, the USB driver WILL NOT install on my PC. I am frustrated and confused. I looked at the manual for the management software and it will do exactly what I want, but I am not having ANY luck at all getting my PC to recognize my Phone.

I have gotten much help from the members of this forum... Can anyone help me on this??

Thanks,
SoccerRef
