Kyocera ESN change

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: brokntoad

I am looking for a program that is able to change the ESN on a Kyocera KE414. KWC ESN Writer ALL or KESN if that will work.

Thanks!

Posted by: realgt

i had emailed you kesn, check to see if you got it

Posted by: brokntoad

No realgt... I didn't get anything. Please try again! Thank You!

Posted by: brokntoad

Maybe use this email address.

brokntoad@yahoo.com

Thanks again!

Posted by: brokntoad

Thanks! realgt

but regretfully KESN is specific to the Slider. I tried it with a 414 and a 2119 but displays error message stating the version is only compatible to the Slider.

I have software to trade or am willing to buy KWC ESN All or anything that will write ESN's for Kyocera or any CDMA phones.

Does anyone know of any programs?

Thanks!

Posted by: realgt

doh! hopefully UNICDMA will work, i emailed it to you

Posted by: brokntoad

I have that as well. Tried it and doesn't work. I read the spec's for UniCDMA at one of those sites that sells the software packages and looks like version 1.098 would work. We have 1.095.

Hey Thanks a bunch for trying though. Hopefully someone will have one of the other programs that work and are as cool as you and send them. I will pass on what ever I may get.

Thanks again!!

im just looking for a way to overwrite locked files on the kx414 so i can upload a hacked $sys_rmt file (so i can use a different start up sound)

an i sent ur progs

later

Posted by: 22bsti

sorry they are kind of a jumbled up mess and some are prolly duplicates

Posted by: brokntoad

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

You were right... there were a lot of duplicates but there was one that was PERFECT!! A+ blade&phantom was the one!! I will use a few of the others as well. Thank you very much!

I have tried messing with overwriting protected sys files before with no luck. I will relay any info if I do come across a work around.

You Are The XXXXXXX MAN!!

realgt... it's coming your way

You can't overwrite protected SYS files. You need to download the entire flash memory from the phone using the appropriate software, and modify the file that's downloaded using a hex editor, and change your appropriate values, and then reload the flash back onto the phone.

It's really risky, cause you can fry your phone, but I have taken the plunge and done exactly that. Ran into a few scares, so I really wouldn't recommend it, unless your phone is under warranty and you're good at coming up with excuses.

lol thnx brokntoad i could always use some more cool sw, i can host it on my server, if you guys wanna send it over realgt@gmail.com

If anyone knows how to unlock kyocera 494 Telus mail to nalogi@msn.com .
Bitpim didn't help me.
May be somebody knows SPC?

Posted by: realgt

you can get the spc from /nvm/nvm.security
if not then from one of the NVM files, maybe like samsung or sanyo phones which have nvm.001 or nvm.002 if you do a hexdump and try finding it on the left hand side

your spc will be a 6 digit number and you will probably find 3 sets of 6 digit numbers which are all spc codes but they work for different menu functions

in any case, hopefully you'll find nvm.security and save it to your hard drive and open it in notepad

Thanks for advising me, but
I can't view phone files by Bitpim because they are locked.
The only information I get - sounds and screens.
If anyone knows how to view all the files?

I've heard the TELUS Kyocera 494 has some additional protection against BitPim from accessing the SPC, as well as other traditional SPC readers.

I'm actually interested in getting the 494 to replace my Blade, so if anyone finds out a way to defeat this protection, please post it here ASAP.

I refuse to own a phone from now on without knowing the MSL/SPC.

If you're in the GTA maybe we can meet up sometime to see if we can crack it.

Wasn't there a guy on here at one point offering Kyocera SPC's for like $5 or something?

I spent a lot of time looking for the file posted here, and was only able to get it by emailing phatb618 directly who had gotten it previously. Many thanks to that phatb618. I would like to share it with this forum. Download it here:

I haven't been on howardforums for a while but I'm surprised the board nazis haven't bashed you out yet. As you probably know, they are overrun by self-righteous provider cronies, especially in Canada.

I, as well, refuse to own a phone without knowing its SPC and Debug Screen code. Fortunately, I have gathered software that allows to get 'inside' so to speak, but truly, it has not been easy as very few work and on only a select few models.

Now in Canada our providers have tightened their noose around consumers, since they finally gained, late last year, the right for telephone number portability, by immediately retaliating right after that policy was finally forced upon them by goverment last year, by refusing access to any phone, no matter if it was identical to theirs or not, no matter how basic the service level selected was or not, if that phone was not acquired through their so-called 'subsidized' pricing systems. In other words, unless you bought it through them at their outrageously high prices.

There are few widely available utilities for changing Kyocera ESNs, and they work on only a few models. I am still looking for one that will allow me to modify the ESN of a good Kyocera 3245 that I acquired but not through Bell Mobility, to that of my old defective Bell Mobility unit that has been sitting in my desk for over a year now.

Presumably, UNICDMA is the best for the job, bit it's very expensive and so far I have not found a version that will actually work rewriting the ESN of my 3245. But you should look into it as it may well work for your phone.

Good Luck!

Do you already try to read the phone with bitpim?

No, and I'm glad you told me, because I downloaded this utility more than a year ago. Maybe there was something that did not work when I first tried it last time, but it's worth looking into it since I got my new Vista machine. I do only have a USB cable, though, but I was able to install the driver for it so it should work.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try it out!

And BTW, I found out that CDMA Workshop ver. 3.0.1 should work fine to reprogram the ESN on my phone, but the programmer wants $200 and it's simply not going to happen, considering I just want to reset the ESN of a couple of phones that I paid between $20 and $40 for.

He could have made a free version limited to changing the ESN on one or two phones, for example. As it stands, at its price point it's obviously priced for heavy users such as cell phone franchises, not single users like me. Too bad and just poor marketing, IMO...

Posted by: DUDENPHX

You should be able to use Plinksoft EasyCDMA v1.96 to get the spc code. It was the only software that would work with my KX2 Koi

Posted by: Old Faithful

Thanks, Dude, I tried easyCDMA, but couldn't find a way to make it work with the 3245. IIRC (hey that was a long time ago!), there were no settings for the 3245. I DOD find a few so0ftwares that were compatible with the KOI, however. Just nothing for the 3245!

I still have those 3245s, with new car kits, if you know how to make EasyCDMA or CDMA workshop work with them, please let me know!!!

I have tried and tried many different apps and even in QPST when I try to load my old (but broken RF) bin file onto the new phone, QPST won't let me do it, saying it's a different device. In other words, I know it should work, but QPST won't let me do it!

So if you know of a work around, I'd be really interested!!!
