se44 data cable problem

I bought a serial data cable for my se44 slider and can't connect either with kyocera software nor with bit pimp
It looks like the phone is not connecting at all.
I would really like to know if anybody have experience connecting the phone via serial data cable. I suspect is a port config. issue
