I just had an idea and being how the market is trending these days, I think Sony Ericsson is going to allow for landscape mode on the next P series. Some reports said that it was going to be a 3G device but I doubt it....It' is still a possibility but I doubt it.

a big screen is nice but how will it affect the overall size of the device? I myself am pretty sure that if a phone is any bigger than the P9xx is right now, I'm not interested.

I wouldn't mind if the device was flatter and felt more solid.

So I guess we shall see. Maybe they will eliminate a border around the screen or something.

i'd like a device same size as p900, but lighter and thinner....because of NO CAMERA! unless it is 2MP or more, a camera is very stupid.

I'd like a P910i in a RAZR form factor. Camera is not important to me, thats why I have a 5 MP Nikon.

Faster processor, bigger internal memory. Bassically a tablet PC with GSM capabilities..........

I plugged in a 256 Pro duo stick and it helps the P910i some.

I actually like the form factor the P910 is now. I have a 512mb coming on its way. It is so weird, I keep having these brainstorms in the middle of the day about the next UIQ...I wonder what it is....so weird. I'll be sitting in class and a thought will pop in my head. I will start writing these down and maybe if they haven't fully implemented (by the time the specs come out) that I can send a certified letter to SE.

btw, other thing I could see happening is either a 262k color screen or higher and a megapixel camera with LED flash. I think a camera with a swivel type action or a removable cover (to protect the lens) is a possibility as well.

I love the P series phones but, if they don't come with 3G and MP cameras on the replacement. Then I'm not buying it.

With higher colors it will drain the battery so fast, you won't be able to make more then a few calls.

It would be great if the camera can have an OPTICAL ZOOM instead of DIGITAL ZOOM, then I can throw my digital camera away!

Assuming it would have at least 4 MP like the ones in the Korean made phones.

I'm very happy with my P910a, but as far as improvements go for the next model I'd really like to see the following:

1. UMTS-internet is painfully slow right now
2. Wi-Fi-so I can go online in the conference room where reception is weak.
3. Thinner over all. hopefully no more than 0.75".
4. Styling similar to Nokia 9500 but thinner and shorter with a swivel screen so you could use it in tablet/portrait mode with the keyboard hidden or landscape mode with the keyboard.
5. Dedicated send/end keys.
6. Faster processor-have to keep up with Treo and PPC's

This would be the perfect device in my mind and so probably will never be built. But we can hope right.

it will prolly be gsm since cingular/att has already launch their gsm network in selected cities for a couple of months now. hopefully its ev-do so then at least we can get some decent almost dsl speeds going. the rest i cant be sure about since se has a tendency to decide on the wrong things sometimes. im fine with the form factor it is in right now but to me i already got some ideas of what i wanted it to be. just think a merger of a sidekick and p900. tha'ts all u need to know.

SE doesn't really make CDMA for NA anymore... so I doubt it will be EV-DO... if anything, it will be EDGE...

oh i didnt know ev-do was exclusive to cdma only . i guess it will be edge then. edge is really not fast at all. lame

I just had a dream the other night. get this...I don't know why but it got more interesting. It's like I saw the entire matrix of the future sony ericssson phones. I saw the re-release of the R series under a 4 digit combination. I also saw a P930 and a P1035 or P1030 UIQ series. I saw a glimpse of a P1000 series and it looked very thin. I think I will start drawing this stuff cause it comes so vividly in my dreams.

Man, sounds like you need a woman to stop you dreaming about mobile phones.

This is the latest rumoured design for the P1000i. Could be real, could not be but I like it personally. Also as a side note there is now a few places in Europe which are listing the P1000 so I don't think it'll be too long now before we know something about it. Especially as UIQ 3 is now available, it's just begging to be put onto a phone and sold ASAP before someone else beats SE to the punch.

Also I'd be surprised if it's not 3G. Other than in the US where you unfortantely lag behind a bit, 3G is big in the bulk of the world. To not release a high end phone with 3G would make the P1000 a hard sell.

Still, what do you think?

Edit: What only 15K pictures! OK I've had to shrink it by 40% but you still get the idea.

Well personally I don't think it will have WiFi. I'd hope it is GSM/GPRS (Edge) and 3G. I like to do a bit of browsing while I'm on the move and bog standard GPRS isn't all that bad. 3G would be extremely quick and more than good enough.

I know in the US you have more WiFi zones I think but the in the rest of the world there isn't so many, especially not free ones.

Plus it looks rather thin to me. I'd like to see it in a shade of black maybe. I think that would look really swish.

I don't know when it will be coming out but I remember it wasn't long after similar looking drawings of the P910i got leaked that it was announced.

No date but it's listed at least, also the only specification that they have listed is a 1MPixel camera which was probably a given but they must know something about it. For a phone shop to learn about it, I'd guess it wouldn't be too much longer now.

You'll never please everyone

Way I see it is when it's closed the screen is protected and you can still see who is calling. With a bluetooth headset you can answer and voice dial and the phone stays in your pocket with the screen nicely protected.

It looks like it's got a flash for the camera and that the camera can most likely rotate to face the holder which would then support it having 3G and video calling.

The only thing I would hope is that the keypad allows easy one hand texting when it's opened like a cam shell.

Also like the idea that you can fully push the screen around to just see the screen. I think UIQ 3 supports landscape too so that could be useful as well.

Nothing is ever perfect but I think it's a good step on.

i was thinking the exact features for the p1000 but in my version it was more like a sidekick so we can make use of landscape mode and movies and better gaming experience. like if there were buttons and a control pad like on the psp.
