I was wondering if I can still use the Treo 300 without having to activate with a cellular company? I don't care about the phone functions or even the e-mail. I just want to use it to keep my phone numbers and keep track of my info.

I don't know specifically about the Treo 300, but I would look for an option that let's you turn the phone's radio off, just like you would do if you were going on an airplane and sitll wanted to use the PDA functionality without keeping the cellular radio active. It should turn on and operate completely without a SIM card or any active service.

suppose i remove my sim card to use on my backup phone. will the 650 still function as a pda? or will it lock up looking for a sim card before any functions?
Nope, good news Naveen. The Treo works perfectly fine as a PDA without a SIM card; of course it'll bug you to insert a SIM for weather, the web browser (Blazer) etc, etc.
But I love the fact it can do this -comes in handy for those cross--country trips to Boston/SoCal.
PM me with anymore questions.
