Okay guys after reading around and seeing threads like "Your webjal instruction are out of date" and saying that links do not work anymore, I have compiled EVERYTHING you need for your I860 Cell Phone.

This Inculudes:
MediaDownloader-Take all your Pictures from you I860 and put them on your computer. This can be very useful if you get a new I860 beacuse then you can reupload them via webjal.

WebJal-Just follow the instruction in the READ ME file. VERY VERY simple. IN PREFERENCES SELECT USB CONNECTION!!!

USB Drivers- The Drivers to get your Cell phone up and running for the computer.

IDENPHONEBOOK Manager- Manage Your phonebook from your computer.

I860 Exteranl Wallpaper V2- Use this program to upload external wallpapers to your I860

Speical Thanks to HowardForums for all the help and IDENstop.com for the external wallpaper and idenphonebook manager programs.

O Crap sorry i forgot to put that in the README. The password for the patcher is mobiledudes.com Sorry about that.

i got an i860, am i supposed to still be using the webjal program or is there something newer ? I'm doing username and password blank but i've heard all sorts of talk about username:webjal, etc.... Everything DOES work though. This stuff is confusing with having different information always coming from different sources. Advise.

No that webjal is the newest verison. Most of the webjal i have downloaded form various sources the username and pass where blank.

Do you guyz think you can sticky this so there isnt anymore threads about finding software and updates and stuff.

Hey I followed the link up there and down loaded all the apps. The driver install goes great, but when I run Webjal it says there is no iDEN USB driver installed. When I plug the phone in I can here the usb port, when see the phone. I have loaded the drivers 3 times and downloaded from 2 sites. ANY IDEAS?

Nevermind I got it. I just went to device manager and reinstalled the driver manually

Dont use the USB drivers that come zipped with webjal, download them from the site. If i where you i would trying deleteing the usb drivers, then remove webjal. Re-install the USB drivers, THEN reinstall webjal, then install patch.

When you are downloading mp3s to the phone are you sure in the drop down box where it says for you to select the format of the tone do you have mp3 selected?

Therein lies the problem. The only option it allows me is "midi ringtones". Any advice?

make sure your phone is first CONNECTED on webjal or else it wont give you the options of .WAV or .MP3.

Yes you must have your phone connected and running right for webjal to give the rest of the selections.

Duh! -- make sure the phone is connected -- thanks for the info -- that did the trick however I got the same message I have been getting from other JAL loaders:

"A general communicaton error occured while communicating with the phone. Please verify the connection between the computer, phone and cable as well as your preference settings. In addition you may try setting the phone baud rate to 19200."

I checked the connections all secure. My preferences are checked for "USB" and the baud rate is 19200.

Am I at a dead end?

What are you trying to transfer to the phone?

It is an mp3 file. Short in duration. It appears to download in about 3-4 seconds and then I get the error message. The file is 97.8 kb. I created the file at a very slow sampling rate.

Try convertering it to a wav file. For some reason some I860's including mine refuse to take mp3's. When i convert them to wav, everything works fine.

I tried to download the .wav file -- same message error the donwload time took over 20 minutes. Just when it got to the end, the message popped up.

Are you sure you have the ringtone in the right format settings?

Sample rate at 8000, mono and 8bit?

The mp3's and wav's have to be the right format or you will get that error message.

what i find works all the time and everytime is you take your song convert it to wav cut it sav it as wav then convert it to mp3(lame) 32 mono 8000. works great everytime!!!

This also does work, but i know for a fact if you convert it to wav it will work.

Are you connected to the internet when you sign in? If you are on dial up make sure that you are logged on with AOL or whatever you use and then try to conenct to the server.

thanks - i was getting heated that i couldnt take my phonebook from my 730 to my 860...guess i had an old version of the phonebook program....

Webjal won't load. I also get error: Application unable to retrieve required information from server.

Tried different fix and it worked.

Hey I have used a lot of your info to help me out. My current problem is nextel had to update my phone cause some of the default ringers were messing up, now I cannot (using webjal) dl ringones, but I can dl wallpapers. I have tired different formats and reinstalling everything. It give me the error that my phone may not be corrected or check the baud rate, have done all of it. Thanks for any help you can give.

If you are using windows xp you need to enable automatic updates and update your system. You really need to install service pack 1 not only for webjal to work but for CRITCIAL secuity updates.

I have my phone set at 19200, I tryed wav. mp3. and they are set to 8 kBit/s, 8,00 Hz, mono 0kb/sec
I am using DBAudioMixerEditor to edit them and I cant get it right I used it on my i730 and it worked fine but that was with mids. I dont have a mids. converter otherwise I would try that, I hope someone can help me thanks alot.

Alright I found another fourm that has it for MP3s you have to use dBpowerAMP Music Converter the Bit Rate has to be 48 kbps...It has to be set to Mono....and the Audio Sample Rate 8 kHz....Also a good program to use to convert Wav files to i860 compatible MP3 files is dbPowerAmp...Another good reason to use that program is that is Free... You can get it from http://www.download.com and do a search for "dbPowerAmp"

when i load wallpapers to my phone it only allows gif format and not jpeg why? i know the 860 supports jpeg. is there a updated webjal with the option to choose? i have .03 version from the beginning of the post

I just make them all GFI format, Its juat alot easier, just open the pic with a photo prog or even paint and save it as GFI file, photo progs work better because they dont make the pic look diffrent when you use paint it makes the quility a little distorted.

its easy man, once you figure it out, you get your wall papers to the size it says on the program, I used paint, upload them to your phone you can only fit 5 and then leave the program on as if you were in a hurry and just closed your phone with the program open, then the picture will appear on outside of your phone

Hi I downloaded everything in the link but when I go into webjal and try to download the file of the exterior wallpaper to the phone is just says eather the file is corrupted or it has to open with something and I cannot find a program it will open with i downloaded the scripten. do i open it with that? its not one of the options on the list of programs anyone have any suggestions?? please help!!

There is a step by steop guide that my friend blackmoutain wrote before he was banned. Do a search, its got pics and all the good stuff.

i downloaded wejal and installed it along with the patch, but i keep getting an error when i try to connect the phone. it tells me that i need to login. i dont have a password so i cant get on. i have search. some one talked about an exe. login hack but i couldnt find it. i also found links to hofo but still found nothing. can someone help me out or send me in the right direction. thanks.

iden webjal connects fine, i converted the .mp3 file to .wav file (8bit 8000 mono1), the file downloads fine in the phone. when the file plays on the phone it keeps cutting. in the pc it doesn't cut, it music play fine. i tried 4 different songs, 120 kb, 50kb, 499kb, 1843kb and the 4 songs cut only when they play in the cellphone. what is the problem? i am using the newest webjal. please help. thanks

connect your phone and it should install the drivers you need

I serched for one on google and found 2 of them one of which you need to pay for so i didnt get it, the other sucks there is no sound and its in slow motion so i deleted it and just gave up.

Can someone give me a clue of whats happening. My phone baud rate is set to 19200 also.

windows 98 sucks down load and install the usb fix
and get xp with sp2 works with n\p its also mite be a winsock 2

You need to use the automatic updates for windows, this has already been addresses on hofo, actually, in THIS thread. It says something to the effect of, "not only for webjal to function, but for extremely important security updates for your computer as well."

Could someone please do the following mods for my i860 code plug? I'm in Canada and using a Boost i860 on the Telus/Mike network. I've tried searching the Nextel forum but only found a thread where I e-mail the guy my code plug so I did that and he hasn't responded in a long time. I would do the changes myself if I could find a thread with instructions but I can't.

Hey, I took like 40 pics yesterday at a concert and a few 10 second videos, How do i get them off. THe 1st post said something about a mediadownloader, but then never said anyhthing else about it. SOmeone help, i dont really want to email them all to my self. THanks. I do have the usb cable and was also hoping to get a program to put wav files on. Thanks for the info. Let me know,

You need the Media Downloader from Motorola....

idenphones.motorola.com then go 2 downloads and it should b listed there rite on the main download page

First off I would like to thank you for all the software. Unfortunately I am now having problems. My Jal Apollo was the only program I had for making changes to my phone and it worked great. After installing everything from your website for some reason I my computer will not connect to my phone. My Jal will not connect to it nor will any of the programs I downloaded. I did install the driver as well. I tried re installing My Jal and its drivers and it wont work. I tried doing a system restore to a couple days before I installed all of this stuff and that didn't work. No matter what I do I can't connect to my phone anymore after installing these programs. Please, Please, Please help.

This makes no sense, webjal was working for me this past week, I've been using the "webjal" username with no password as usual. But tonight I tried it and it says the password/username is incorrect? I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and same problem, wtf is this?!

Everytime i try to connect me I860 to WebJal, it keeps stating that the phone is being used in another operation and to try again later. Has anyone had this problem, and if so can you help me solve it?

Yes the media program should do that, i know for a fact it will save the wallpapers though.

I can't recall if it's this forum or other iDEN forums but there is a topic about thsi problem and a link to download the missing file.

i am looking for the codes to put into the keypad that will display the software vers on the i860, the normal #*menu-r doesnt work on this phone also can someone please advise me how to turn on the gps both ways and will it require a sub from NXTL to do a gps on their mynextel.com, any links will be appriciated..

when it sas service pack 1 it refers to xp service pack 1.

goto add wallpapers and in the file name box type *.* then hit enter, then all formats are listed to upload....enjoy

Most likely is not the size, its what i sad before, the phone wont take anything but gifs.

I have been trying for days now to get my rintones on my i860 phone with webjal i have everything set up perfect it connects to my phone and i can choose wav. mp3. or midi but when i try to download it to my phone it gives me something saying error chekc fi your baud rate is 19200 in your phone and some other stuff and it is. Does anyone know why this isn't working for me, i have downloaded gifs to my phone and it worked so i know webjal and my phone is working fine just not with ringtones!!! SOMEONE HELP ME PLZ IM GOING NUTS!

check your wav, and mp3 format, and try putting the usb cord on a diff port on your computer.

oki fixed the usb problem, now when i download a mid to my phone it says check connection and make sure the baus is set at 19200 i set it at that and it still doesnt work. any ideas.....

Try a differant usb port reboot the computer and make shore there are no java apps running on the phone.

I downloaded all the apps and installed them...I just cant seem to get WebJAL to work...If I run the patch I get this error "The application was unable to retrieve required information from the server." and wont even load...If I dont patch it I get to the point where I'm suppose to log in...I leave both username and password blank and I get "failed to authenticate with the server"...what am I doing wrong.?.

I have installed everything correctly to my knowledge and had this working before and now with my I860 I'm unable to get Webjal to work. When I try to connect it says:

The application was unable to read the required phone information. Please check your cable connection and your preferences. Click retry and try again or cancel to stop.

Then I tried on another computer and got unable to reach server.

Next time type your question where other people can understand it.

I still don't understand what you are trying to say but based on how you said something about only gifs.
Here is my answer.

All you have to do is in webjal go to wallpapers. Then in the file name box type * then click open then all the fiiles in that folder will show. Click on a jpeg picture then click open. Then click download and now you have that jpeg picture on your phone

I finally got my external wallpaper loaded, however, its not perfect as i would like it to be. I really like the wallpaper im using i'm just not sure how to size everything properly. Also is there a way to have it to where if you have a message it will show up with the external back ground? here is a picture of what mine looks like.

Ok I read up, and looked in the threads and I'm clueless as to what I am doing wrong.

I downloaded Webjal.
Installed
Installed the patch
Then installed the new USB drivers

Logged in with username and pass blank
Set it to connect via USB connection.

Once I try to connect I get "The application was unable to read the equired phone information. Please check your cable connection and your preferences. Click retry to try again of cancel to stop"

I checked the connection, its fine.

I tried switching USB ports, no luck

I'm at a loss here, and I hate to be begging for help, but I really can't think of anything else.

If anyone could reply on here, or even better IM me at Spork1138 on AIM that would be great.

hey folks, my first post, i just bought my i850 almost 2 weeks ago and my data cable just came in so it's way past time to make some changes to my ringtones. first i want to thank all of you on this fantastic board, i have been reading everything here and found answers to almost every question i had and i also learned how to make my own ringtones. you guys are great and i hope that i can contribute something to this board.

i made my first ringtone using audacity and razorlame and then tried to upload it using webjal and i too got the same error message that some of you are asking about, well heres the only thing i know about that error message, i talked to some friends of mine today and told them what i did, they all basically said the same thing, it's not the software or the ringtone it's self but the phone. they said they get the same error when they try to upload new ringtones, they don't know why, the phones are just strange that way. we all have different nextels so i am guessing that it's a nextel issue. so best i can say is try a different ringtone and go from there. again thanks to everyone who has posted on this site, all the info and inks have been a great help

For the most part, this entire thread is a complete cluster**** of information. Difficult to follow. There seems to be good bits of information here and there, but you have to search through all the ******** posts to find it.

Why doesn't one of the moderators go through and delete all the worthless **** in this thread so people such as myself can come on here and FIND the information instead of searching for 6 ****ing hours so you dont get ridiculed from the guys who have been here forever.

After searching for hours, all I find are question after question after question. Instead of answering the questions, everybody always replies with 'search. search. search' FINE, but now every time I search on this ****ing forum, I get nothing but some dumb**** asking a stupid question, and someobody else replying with 'search. search. search.' I'm no stranger to forum setup OR being a member of a busy message board, but this thread for the most part is a god **** train wreck. Extreme posted some great links in the first post, and the thread just deteriorated from there.
