im considering getting a sidekick II and i want to use it mostly for AIM. but i have a few questions about it though...

does it use a data connection to connect and send messages or is it done using sms (like on other t-mobile phones)?

when someone else sees you logon, do they see a phone icon next to ur name or not?

andddd can u put up away messages, and if so can u control what they say, as opposed to the default message used when u go away using a regular phone?

thanks

The SK AIM uses data/gprs. You will not be signed into"mobile AIM" but instead as if you signed onto your desktop , meaning there is no phone icon next to your sn.
You can customize your own away messages as well.

Just a quick Heads up. Don't expect much support from T-mobile for the device using it for AIM. T-mobile's AIM support is VERY limited and will just refer u to AIM customer service.

I haven't had any issues using AIM and I use it daily... what would you need to contact them or tmobile for? What kinda issues are you having?

I agree I have never had any problems

AIM client works great so far... as for the Yahoo Client...

It keeps logging me on and off even when my signal strength is great.

Go to Away Messages, then select I'm Away

Then it is going to tell you to type the message that you would like the service to send in reply when you receive an instant message.

So you type your msg, then click on SET
