if you have every run a previous version of Palm Desktop, the best plan is to delete all previous Palm software. You also have to be sure you install from the CD that came with the Treo 600 or you will not get the proper USB Drivers specifically for the 600. I have been through this a few times and this process seems to fix it.

With all due respect to the Palm Desktop and HotSync software, I'd recommend you get a copy of The Missing Sync for Palm OS (http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php).

You'll find it does a lot more, and works a lot better than the bundled software (no duplicates, it's faster).

And most importantly, "PalmSource said it will not update HotSync Manager for the next generation of Palm devices, so getting used to Missing Sync’s added features and ease of use now may be a good idea", according to MacWorld Magazine (review from the November 2004 issue, http://www.macworld.com/2004/11/rev...gsync/index.php).
