Is the file too big? I have the LG LX 5550

it did happen to me with the VX8000 when I uploaded to many MP3 files

im guessing that it runs out of virual memory or something (as happens on the computer sometimes when too many programs are running etc...)

Guys, these are phones not mp3 music players. They don't have much memory.
Get an iPOD !!

good idea...

but ipods dont recieve calls...

i think most of these ppl just want a cool ringtone, so just put on like 2 of them and you should be satisfied for a little while at least

With my experience with bitpim and uploading mp3 I almost always crop about 10-30 seconds of the mp3. Your phone really only rings about 15 seconds b4 it goes to voicemail(usually) anyways. A cool program to use is sony soundforge 6 or better. I think there is only a 30 day free trial on version 7 but there are others that work also.
Here is a sample MP3(in a zip)

another good program is audicity

is sad though, my last 5550 was able to take around 13 ringtones at around ~200kb, and 5 wallpapers before it died. now...i got a new one...and it only has 4 ringtones at around ~65kb, and 2 wallpapers....i want to know wut is happening here

Actuallly I use my VX8000 to listen to MP3's.
Only about 15 songs but in my case that s enough for what i need.
