i have the nextel i860, and was trying to download mp3 ringtones to my phone. i downloaded webjal from vinnycuz along with the usb drivers patcher and server. everything was up and running fine, so i decided to create my own ringtones i read everything i could i formatted the song checked the preferences even tried to go from mp3's to wav. i also removed id3 tags. i tried 3 different programs db poweramp, goldwave, and cool edit, i even shortened each clip to 10 sec. but system still isnt loading. i still get the general communications error. is there anyone who ran into the same problem who knows how to fix this?

I have the same problem and I can't seem to find the answer. Hopefully, someone in here will take pitty on my dumb arss and help me out. I remember rotary phones that the phone company would come out to your house and install. I'm old, I am not supposed to know this stuff...

Wow, maybe try searching a little instead of complaining that no one knows the answer. It's been posted many times, I bet there is even a sticky thread on how to make tones.
But here you go.
Wav's have to be formated a 8 bit, 8000hz, mono.
MP3's are formatted at 32k, 8000hz, mono. You can also try 48k, 8000hz, mono but this does not work on all phones.

Sure, be rude to people, call them names, and be ungrateful. That's a sure fire way to get someone to help you. I see the other guy could figure it out. Hopefully you will be nicer to the next person you ask for help, as for me, I know how to make my own tones and they work. I try to help a lot of people but I'm done with you.

Anyone else want to help him now?
