Question about flash on MPX-220

I just got my MPX-220 yesterday - and the battery is still in its 24-hour charge state - so I really don't want to turn it on just yet. I read the manual and didn't see anything about setting the flash mode for the camera - does the flash turn its self on if its dark in the room? Or is this an option to set?

it doesnt turn itself on automatically.
just press the top, right button when you're in the camera mode and that'll give you the option to enable the flash.
now if I understand it correctly, that setting will stay put until you change it again. in other words, the flash will go off from there on out on every picture that you take.
