My firmware is
X700GA04060906
12-02-2004
X700
(c)Panasonic
so there are different firmwares. I am sure that their is option to install languages but I do not know how .
In the cd there are one program for sync through cable , infra or bluetooth and modem drivers .
I made hard reset on my phone and I loose photo base ; print boy and quick offfice premier . Can you copy from your phone and send to my email to restore them .

The only difference between those two was a small issue affecting a carrier in Australia...or so I am told. There is a smartphone forum here, Most of the posts there have to do with the 6600. That would be where I start pursuing this discussion. My inquiries about this were met with little more than we can not load new software (heard that before) and the languages are part of the software load. But then again, I get the impression that I am being lead astray.

Forgive me all but haven't you used any other Symbian phones in the past? Is the X700 your first? If that's so, you see the reason you seem a bit unaware of what is happening with firmware upgrades...
All Symbian phones are upgraded regurarly by Nokia, Siemens etc... Now it's Panasonic's time to do it. All the firmware upgrades here in Greece at least for the Nokia models (Nokia 7650, 3650, 6600, 6260, 6630), and the Siemens one (Siemens SX1), are being made in the official service points of these companies, free of charge of course...
X700 have had on its own several upgrades, done on the industrial level... WHEN another firmware upgrade appears it will probably be available by the official service point representatives of Pana around the world, free of charge as well... I doubt if they release an internet available upgrade for us... X700 doesn't have the necessary software to do something like this...

I didn't mean to sound like this... It's just that these things are so usual here in Greece that it just struck me as bizzare.
I'm sorry if I offended anyone.

This is my first symbian phone too . But I like to make experiments and I change a lot of firmwares to my older phones .
panaDamir
I do not know their exact place . They are in C: You have to have some file manager not the original one , to copy them . They are not only one file they are folders . You have to copy and send to me . May be they are in system somewhere . Please chech for them you can also find them by surch meny of your file manager .

nighty i have seleQ and I will find and copy folders.....hope that will work.....send me your mail.....
is the Oxygen phone manager for symb.phones.practical to use with x700....I mean that....can the soft show and copy everything

Hey Panadamir, would you semd me those files too? I did a ful reset of the phone also and I lost those. I was able to get the quickoffice app from that nokia 3650 organization site (wink) that has TONS AND TONS of software for the Symbians. I don't have photobase though, or printboy. If you can get me those two, i'd really appreciate it. Email me at kukumjacka@hotmail.com
Thanks

files on its way
but cant find printboy folder or files
so for now I am sending you PhotoBase.rar only
panaDamir
Posted by: panaDamir
so i see that we must collect some apps for x700....when format is needed that default apps can be restored.....
but why do people do formating........is it because phone freezes
mine did freeze twice....to the point where i must take out the battery...to start it again
panaDamir
ps: it would be great when we could save image(apps system all) of phone.....and then load it after formating

Thanks a bunch.
I believe it is possible to back up the phone. PC Suite has a backup app installed but I don't know at what level the backup goes. I'll try to hunt down its config file and see what it exactly backs up.
If that doesn't do it there's got to be some other backup software out there. But then again it's just like Windows that won't copy files that are in use.

question for mobile god lost_rebel
I have tried many apps for picture taking or for longer recording than 10 sec.............but non of them is working or cant start camera i know that many nokia symb also dont support same apps for picture editing/capturing..................but does any program works on pana.....or my phone is faulty
at anny restart of the phone my theme gets back to default pana x700 theme...........is this normal??
TNX

completely backs up the phone. If you restore it, it will restore wallpapers, ringtones, phonebook, games, themes pictures, settings, everything that was stored in the mobile memory, and if selected the card memory.
As for the movie stuff, I have no idea. never used that feature. I suspect limitation is available phone memory required to use before mobile can compress to save the movie. Just a guess.

On my X700 I have the following firmware:
X700GA09061204
02-17-2005
X700
(c) Panasonic
Is it good or bad?
Posted by: panaDamir
how can firmware be bad ?
if it works .....it is good ,and if it doesnt work the expression is corrupted
but it is newer than mine....so lets presume that some things are newer
but nothing visualy changed....it may have difference about carriers...

The whole inside of my X700 was changed because the phone was resetting itself all the time....and i said to the guy in the shop that wanted a phone.
And he said that he was sending it back to some repaircenter and it came back with this new firmware.
I think there is a small improvement in the batter-life, almost two days on a moderate use, and no more stupid reset.
Posted by: panaDamir
your phone was maybe in some hardware - software conflict
annyway i am glad to hear that they manage to repair it
and put newer pcb with newer firmware
i have asked here at my country in panasonic, will they update my firmware
with newer, but the guy said to me : if the phone works without any bug related issues,i dont see why you want to change firmware....

Maybe there is a way to extract this firmware and i can send it to you
Maybe I am saying something very stupid
