LG 5550 question

Hi,

I was considering upgrading my phone to an LG5550 with Bell Mobility. I have read that there was an issue with the display blanking in and out in earlier models. The problem is, I don't know if this issue has been resolved or if the models that Bell carries haven been 'updated'. Are the 5550 that Bell is selling the fixed models? There was a problem with the adhesive holding the cable from the main board to the display.

Thanks,
haven98

I think that problem was not model wide, but limited to a few batches. I've seen the blank screen in maybe 2 5550's, even though I sell that phone a lot.

I have seen a few with buggy software issues. Like the ringer going dead when you call the phone, but it will sound when you go through the menu.

I think overall its a great phone. Just LG may have a few more lemons get through then most. I don't think I have seen a 5550 have to get sent away for service. Most act up in the first week.

I've had my LG 5550 for about a month and no problems.

I'm on my 2nd LG5550, first one was returned after a day because it couldn't hold a digital signal. The second has been send for service due to sound problems. The earpiece volume will cut out in the middle of a call (happens about 40% of the time), though the problem never occurs when using a headset. In general the earpiece volume is too low. It's fine when you're in a quite room, but difficult to hear if your in a mall. Other than the sound problems this has been a great phone, unfortunately sound problems are a big deal for a phone. Battery life/talk time is great.

One feature I missed from my A460 was the single beep instead of ring.

I also had a prolem with the earpiece volume and sent it in for repair. They changed the speaker and it came back better but still not up to par with my sammy A460. I called LG and they confirmed that the volume level on their phones is lower than other manufacturers... I just can't understand why they would not resolve this issue it they are aware of it?

I bought my 5550 back in November. I haven't had any problems with the display, and the earpiece volume is more than adequate.

Overall, it is a great phone.
