Originally posted by sracer Having been born and raised in NYC, and witnessing the OPENING of the Twin Towers and having plenty of family still in NYC, I can understand wanting a 9/11 tribute. I can tweak it a bit to have the color scheme match. I design my homescreens so that all that is needed is the .home.xml and the .jpg background image. You would take these two files and place them in the appropriate directory on your phone. I use two non-standard plug-ins... RJShortcuts and SmartMonitor. Do you want a version of the homescreen without those? (maybe replace RJShortcuts with the standard MRU plug-in?) |

I am running the phone with an ATTWS firmware, so that could be the problem. And i also now have one icon with a question mark, is there anyway that i can assign something to that question mark, like connected bits weather, or agile messanger, etc... also do you know where i can get smart monitor from, because i really like the way the homescreen looks with the battery, and memory meeters... and thanks again you have been a big help |

Originally posted by stuffedtiger79 i have NO idea!! unless u want to actually change your homescreen to include all the plugins and the same format that i have, you dont need the full xml file. just use the theme installer (the hme file). the xml is only for people who want to use the same layout i have. the hme changes the colors and the background without messing with your homescreen layout. |

Hi guys, I just thought I'd let you know that SmartMonitor will no longer be worked on anymore. I know I haven't updated it for ages, but I guess it does everything I wanted it to do (and a few more things that you guys wanted), but the time has come to part company. I'm not abandoning SmartPhone development just yet, but I am putting it on hold indefinitely. I guess I need to concentrate on something that might actually reward me in ways other than personal satisfaction in seeing people use my products on a daily basis. And believe me that kind of reward is still the best one there is, but unfortunately it doesn't pay the bills. So, if anyone out there wanted to get a hold of SmartMonitor or SmartBiorhythms and hasn't got around it just yet, I'd sugget you do it soon, because I've informed my Hosting provider that I will not be renewing my contract next month. Anyway, I'm sure I'll be back some day with something that people might actually like enough to support with a few pennies. Until then, in the words of that great actor that is Vinnie Jones: "It's been emotional". Cheers, Dr Fonz |

Originally posted by sracer Sorry. I was waiting to see if you wanted it with or without those optional plug-ins. Well, here it is with the optional plug-ins. I suggest getting them because they really add functionality to it. ![]() FDNY homescreen ZIP To install this homescreen, download the ZIP file. Unzip it to your desktop PC. Then with the phone attached to your PC and ActiveSync connected, drag-n-drop the fdny.home.xml and fdny.jpg files into the \Storage\Application Data\Home directory on your phone. Then go into Start -> Settings -> Homescreen and select FDNY. Make sure that both background and color scheme are set to "Default". (this will ensure that the image and colors defined within the fdny.home.xml are used). Enjoy! |

Originally posted by sracer Does the sample RJShortcuts homescreen work on your phone? If so, I wonder if there is a slight variation in how it is defined on your phone. Compare the plug-in clsid entry for RJShortcut defined in my FDNY homescreen with the one that is in the sample RJShortcut xml. Maybe that is the difference. |

Originally posted by sracer Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you like it! I'm running with the ATTWS firmware as well, but my phone is the Audiovox SMT-5600, so there may be a difference in that. As for the shortcuts, you can change those yourself with a little work. Load the fdny2.home.xml file in a plain text editor (like NotePad) and go to the "shortcuts" section.... Code:
You can change those < shortcut... > entries to be any app that is on your phone. You can use the targets already defined to help locate where other shortcuts are. |

Originally posted by Engine ok, i am having trouble trying to edit out the xml for the shortcuts. This is sracer's xml file that i am in the process of butchering. . <!-- RJShortcut --> <plugin clsid="***3750050-8E30-4c61-A864-4301F5D7C065}"> <background b-border-width="0"> </background> <format padding-left="6" padding-top="2" padding-bottom="2"/> <shortcutbar icon-spacing="2" icon-size="small"> <shortcut target="\Storage\Windows\Start Menu\Resource Management\Task Manager.lnk"/> <shortcut target="\Storage\Windows\Start Menu\BibleReader.lnk"/> <shortcut target="\Storage\Windows\Start Menu\Tasks+.lnk"/> <shortcut target="\Storage\Windows\Start Menu\WordPad.lnk"/> <shortcut target="\Storage\Windows\Start Menu\Call History.lnk"/> <shortcut target="\Storage\Windows\Start Menu\Weather.lnk"/> <shortcut target="\Storage\Windows\Start Menu\Camera.lnk"/> <shortcut target="\Windows\iexplore.exe"/> </shortcutbar> </plugin> Now the only things on here that actually work for me is call history, weather, camera, and IE. So i kind of figured out that i have 9 spots all together, and only four of them work, so i would like to put for the other 5, the following. Contacts, calendar, photo album, calculator, windows media. I have tried to mess with it like this to get lets say the calculator to work Before: target="\Storage\Windows\Start Menu\BibleReader.lnk"/> <shortcut After: target="\Storage\Windows\Start Menu\Calculator.lnk"/> <shortcut but it doesnt work, what am i doing wrong, i guess i cant figure out what the correct file extension should be. if any of you guys could help i would really apreciate it. I really want to kind of mess with it myself and learn it but i have not a clue what i am doing... thanks in advance guys |
Why do you have the extra "<shortcut" after the "target" line? All I did is take the original FDNY XML file and erase the things that I didn't have on my phone and input the ones I did. Worked just fine. Yeah, you can put 9 shortcuts the way it's setup now. That's what I have. Remove that extra >shortcut and you should be fine.|
Originally posted by Engine well this is the file that i already started to butcher of his fdny file. put it doesnt look like i am using the correct file name for the shortcut to work, even with agile messanger i have tried every combonation of agile messanger, and agile mobile, with and with out spaces and i cant get that to work either |
|
Originally posted by Engine ok, awesome i figured all of that out, now i have more thing to figure out. with the origional FDNY.Home.xml file there is a Vmail, Email, SMS right under the shortucts, this is from the origional file: <background b-border-width="0"/> --> <label> <text x="0">VMail:</text> </label> <label> <text x="35" font-weight="bold"> <unreadVMail/> </text> </label> <label> <text x="60">EMail:</text> </label> <label> <text x="95" font-weight="bold"> <unreadEmail/> </text> </label> <label> <text x="120">SMS:</text> </label> <label> <text x="155" font-weight="bold"> <unreadSMS/> </text> </label> Now i am basically just trying to get rid of the Vmail thing all together, because when i get a voicemail it doesnt say 1 or 2 for that many new voice mails it lists like a 10 digit number for some reason and i cant figure out why. So i would just like to have the Email, and SMS, and have them proportionally centered. I have been messing around with it , but am having difficulties. This is what i have done: <background b-border-width="0"/> --> <label> <text x="0">EMail:</text> </label> <label> <text x="35" font-weight="bold"> <unreadEMail/> </text> </label> <label> <text x="120">SMS:</text> </label> <label> <text x="155" font-weight="bold"> <unreadSMS/> </text> </label> that one has completly replaced the Vmail, with the Email. so it kinda looks like this: Email:____________________________ SMS: 0 (i just used that underline to space it out for you) for some reason i cant get it to show either 0 for email, or any other number if i have any anybody have a clue??? and then after we figure out that, and one have a clue how to correctly center them... thanks so much guys i know that im being a big pain in the @$$, but i am really just trying to learn all of this brian |
|
Originally posted by way2fast4u Engine i understand your pain;.. My Vmail also has a ten Digit read out when a voice mail comes in but The way to figure out the spacing is where it says <text x="120">SMS:</text> the #120 represents where the space is.. so if you look back at the original settings i think there spaced as vmail 30 email 60 and Sms 120 thats the spacing.. so you can work from there.. so maybe just email and sms would maybe be like Email 40 SMS 80 Hope this helps as im still trying to figure out why the vmail comes up 10 #'s :doh |

It will create a new folder on your PC and in that folder will be the .jpg for the background and the .xml for the color scheme. Load the scheme.xml in Notepad (or your favorite editor) and swipe-and-copy the < scheme > ... < /scheme > section and paste it into your home.xml (overwriting the existing < scheme > section.
