Is there an easy way to do this? From the posts I've read it seems there is no removable memory or even a USB cable and when one is available, free transfer of files may no be permited.

Let me reassure you I bought a 8000 the first and transfered mp3/ringtones last night and they all work fine on my phone with no charge.

BeaMeR626, did you follow the instructions in the 8000 Faq's?
What data cable did you buy? Where?

I am using the latest BitPim 0.7.26
I am using my old 6000 data cable (it's not a smooth fit but it works)
I can't send anything to my phone.
But i figured out how to take video, music and pictures off!
When you use BitPim make sure your Com is Com5 and your phone is set to the 7000.
Go to the file system (where the tree is) and open "Brew" up.
Then the subfolder of that is "Media" and there are your videos!
Right click on the video, hit save and there you go!
For your pictures go to the "dload" + button and open that up.
Then open the subfolder "img" and there are ur pics.
And your sound is at the very bottom. Go to "user" - "sound" - "ringer" and there's your music that you downloaded from Get It Now.
I'm thinking "overwrite" might be able to help us out getting video, music and pic.'s on our phone this way. But anyway hope this is helpful.
Post your accomplishments too!
EDITORS NOTE:
BitPim is weird! When saving your pix, flix, and music to the computer the first two go fast! Then the third goes alittle slower and then everything after that almost freezes the whole program.
The solution: If you have 9 pic's u wanna save to ur comp. then save the first three. Close BitPim then, open it again and resume by saving the next three, and just repeat the process. I know weird but it's the fastest method so far!
I downloaded a ringtone of VZW through get it now. Paid $3 bucks for it! It's a true tone. It downloaded, sounds great! But it's in the "ringtones" section. When I tried saving that song to my comp. my comp. didn't reconize it as an "mp3", it reconized it as "MIDI"!! But it plays and sounds like a real MP3! My theory is that ONLY "true" MP3's can go into the "Tunes" section. Unlike other LG models, there was no MP3 player on our phone. Now there is something different than "Ringtones", we have "Ringtones" AND an "MP3" player on our phone. If the Tunes can be used as ringtones....?? Doesn't look like it.

I asked for an easy way and what is QPST? Is there an Verizon sanctioned way to download images and upload MP3s?
