Will someone set me straight on this (BB & mMode)

I have heard some people say its possible. I have heard other people say its impossible.

I want to be able to surf on my bb 7280. Don't need the push email or any email for that matter. Just want to surf? Don't want to pay the 49.99 BB data plan.

Now is there a way you can configure your bb to work with mMode and how?

Just a simple explanation and i'll try to figure out the rest, thanks.

if you dont need push email then you've got the wrong handset

Blackberries need special blackberry data plans, not garden variety wap.

The browser on a BB is for occasional use (if that), go for a treo or PPC if its webbrowsing you want (i cant believe i jsut said that)

I agree with bizee. If you live in an area with good T-Mobile service, check their data plans. T-Mobile is very inexpensive but also very slow when compared with Cingular EDGE and Verizon EV-DO.

True, but there are no EDGE or EV-DO BlackBerrys out right now... Soon (maybe), but right now GPRS is GPRS (and 1x is a bit faster).

I was thinking using either a Treo or PocketPC. You can get a PPC from Verizon with EV-DO now with a Samsung coming soon.

Verizon now has the 7250 BB; reading another post it will be EV-DO with a software upgrade soon.

For BB I have Cingular and I'm happy with the service since it is pretty much email only.

No. Not possible. You must have a BB data plan to get the BlackBerry to register on your network, before you can do WAP, mMoDe or any other data services.
