I just recently bought a 7520 Blackberry. I can receive SMS text messaging but can not reply. Am I doing something wrong??

You cant do SMS on the 7520 or the 7510 for that matter.

You also will not be able to tell who the SMS message is from. Have them send you a message via email.....ie yournumber@nextel.blackberry.net or yournumber@messaging.nextel.com (I think the 2nd one is right but am not sure)

Do a search of the board to, I think there is a good list of how to send messages to just about any carrier via email as well instead of SMS.......I think Martin posted it?

Do you have a blackberry data plan? If so, you should not be able to see who actual sms comes from. If you don't have a data plan, you won't be sending anything other than phone calls or DC (phone-type data plans do not work on the bb).

To send sms (=email) to another phone, use phonenumber@teleflip.com --this will automatically deliver the message to the phone, and that person in replying will be sending to your bb email addy. Like Brad said, people who want to send you a message with an option to reply will need to send to your email addy (bwc address is easiest).

In your text setting check if in your SMS options that "Network to Send OVer" is set at GSM not GRPS because i had the same problem i was able to recieve but then not send, try that and see if that works.

Yes, you can reply to a SMS! (But it uses a trick)

Just send an email to ##########@teleflip.com .... and it will reach their cellphone. Replace ########## with any North American phone number.

It even works from desktop email too, sending SMS from your PC.

You are not doing anything wrong, nor is it strange. The 7520 does not support outgoing messages via SMS. See the following manufacturer model comparison page. In particular see the reference to note #2 beside SMS for 7520. Note 2 says, incoming only on this model.

Sooo... as other's above have mentioned, you have to use the email routed SMS from the 7520.
