Does anybody know anything about the new Panasonic Allure EB-TX310? Anybody know how much it costs?

Howard's site says it's out but I haven't seen it around in Vancouver. Looks like a pretty cool phone.

Posted by: SVWComm

i plan to buy that phone.....anyone got any suggestion or comment about that phone? it seems nice.....and it cost about $149 USD....

Posted by: Rukawa

I think the phone is on the market in the U.S.. When will AT&T carry it in Canada??

Posted by: Rukawa

People start to sell the phones at ebay. Go check it. Not expensive.

is it a good phone to buy?

Posted by: cat5joe

I've had mine for two weeks now and love it. Had a few Nokias in the past and the Allure is even better in my opinion.

Tried the 3360 for two weeks prior to trading it in on the Allure. I have a remote cabin where the reception is weak, and the 3360 didn't hack it. Yet the Panasonic is able to lock onto the signal and is clear.

The features are too many to list. Check out Panasonics website. You can download the user's manual to see all it has to offer.

The key features are: tiny size, next to nothing weight, great signal strength/quality, speakerphone, battery life (4+ days averaging 6 calls daily), vibrate.

In the states, I got the phone for $90, which is after the $40 mail in rebate. Cheap I feel for a phone of this caliber. My opinion, try it, AT&T has a 30 day trial period. Just take it back if you don't like it. But I bet you will!

thanks for the info. i think i will give it a try

OOH...my bro has the panasonic promax and its a really good phone..not alot of functions but its really light..

Posted by: DaBigBR

All I can say is: 6 easily changed backlight colors.

Buy the phone.

Posted by: BiBo

I just got this phone today. Previously I use the Promax. This Allure has many features that Promax doesn't have. I think it worths to buy it. However, I haven't activated it yet. I go with Rogers ATT and this phone is from ATT in the US. Anyone know how I can activate it with Rogers ATT network? Thanx.

Posted by: Rukawa

You are NOT allowed to use Rogers network in Canada.

Posted by: BiBo

Yes, I do use this phone now activated with Rogers AT&T.. haha

Good work. What did you say to get them to go for it? Did you have to prove that you were living there and moved.. and didn't just buy the phone from the US?

Posted by: BiBo

After receiving my new Allure phone, I called the Rogers' customer support to ask them whether I can activate my phone. The answer I got is "I definetely can't use this phone with Rogers because the ESN # is not in their database". Well, I am not quite satisfied with this answer since Rogers can simply add the ESN # into their database. Anyways, then I visited some of retail stores. Some said yes, some said no. And one of the store told me that I can just call them to find out. Well, then I called Rogers second times. This time I just said I would like to use the phone which my brother just gave me. Rogers just asked my ESN # and bin-go, I can use this phone now. (of course you have to program your phone # into the phone first). So I guess what they told me in the beginning (US ESN# is not in their database) is all buxx shxi.....

ROGERS SHOULD WORK ON THEIR LIES MORE.

A brand new Panasonic 310 demo phone came into my work today. I got to play arround with it, Man is it ever a sweet phone.
It's about time Roger's finally came out with a nice feature packed phone. I think it will sell like crazy. The 210 was a nice phone which hardly had problems, I think the 310 will be another great problem-free phone from panasonic.

Posted by: Fish

oh..sorry guyz, my supervisor and a coworker both have the panasonic tx310 for since at least in september~~ i didnt pay too much attention to the phone cuz i'm a pro nokia person~

but always.....the ringtones on the phone is SOOOOOO nice!!!
and tons of other great stuff about the phone that i like, too!

Posted by: MattGuy368

can anyone post me a link to the features thjis phone has, i just heard of it now and might re-think getting a nokia 3360, which phone would you epople recommend?

I would go for TX-310 cus it's a Japan-styled phone. Basically, nokia 3360 and TX-310 have the same features (i.e. voice dialing) but TX-310 has 6 different color backlits, speaker phone, voice command, and better ringtones. TX-310 is also much lighter than 3360. Why wait?? Go to buy it immediately!!!

The Panasonic website.
http://www.panasonic.com/PCSC/PTSC/allure.htm

I think the Panasonic is much nicer. Just compare the style and features.

Posted by: Fish

data cable for tx310 anywhere??? for a good price??...
i dont wanna pay $39.99USD to get it at ATTWS~~

Posted by: MattGuy368

I gotta wait till christmas......few more days damn. This will be my first phone and i don't really know because i like hom the nokia looks better and i like the user changeable covers n stuff....But 6 DIFFERENT COLORS OF BACKLIGHT......I'm finding that hard to refuse. I also heard that there are problems with the voice quality and earpiece volume on the phone...

Posted by: U1arunit

After having one for a week and a half I found several things that I didn't like about this phone.

1) The earpiece sound quality is absolutely TERRIBLE!

2) Different color backlight choices other than amber just made the display harder to read.

3) Battery life is less than 1/2 of rated. Talk time for me averaged MAYBE 45 minutes even after conditioning and I live/traveled in areas where I got a full signal most times.

4) You need a cable to d/l ring tones.. (Previous phone, a Nokia 8260 could just get tones by sending them to the phone.)

5) It's TDMA... I know that this isn't the phones fault, but after switching to a Samsung CDMA phone I can honestly say that the CDMA is soooo much clearer.

That's all I can think to ***** about now. Flame Suit ON.

Posted by: SharpST77

oh man..my friends brother just came back from japan he brought his panasonic sosomething back to the US...(japanese flip phones) and it was like the nicest phone i've ever seen..and he's like..thats like the 51XX series in japan and it was free...i dig the color screen and the flashing led on the bottom and the outer screen in orange...i wish we had those phones here..it was really light too..lighter than my 8260..but it was kinda thick...

Posted by: jacky1976

very good phone i can say, however, the ringtone volume is too low...that's all.
and functions not enough.

Jacky

Posted by: U1arunit

Yes, and if I recall correctly it didn't have a calender, calculator, or games either.

Posted by: jrleesoul

its a sweet little phone (lite as hell, I mean shirt pocket lite, good size, very intuative controls yada yada yada)...I'm totally satisfied with it. I wish it had all the functions as the Sanyo 5K or 6K but for the price you cant beat it. Not to brag but I got mine for $19.99 after $80 contract rebate and $50 off at amazon.com..phone listed for $149 (just checked the website...and it no longer had the $50 off, expired 12.31.01, but the phone is now listed for $129 w/activation).

the tone level is somewhat low but at least they all sound like actual melodies. dont get me wrong it's no orchestra but it's not a bunch of beeping strung together to create the sound (a la Nokia). it kinda reminded me of the phones in Japan (using "reminded" loosely, I know, the phones in Japan are much sweeter!).

the only thing I'm wondering about are the colors of the phone. Panasonic's website had both the titanium and silver. On attws it only had the titanium color. I musta spent a week trying to track down a silver one. called ATT but no luck. however, on amazon.com the image of the phone looks like its silver. I even called them and asked if it was silever and the rep says, "yes its silver" but when I recieved the phone it was titanium. yeah, amazon sucz. anyways, Does anyone know where I could get the silver phone? is it out in a different region? or is ATT holding back on releasing it so it can make their product line appear "fresh" by releasing it later? dam those marketing ##$#s!

thanks!

Seeing as it has not been mentioned here yet, please note that a user group for the phone has been established (by yours truly):

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PanAllure

Currently there are 208 (within less than 2 months of startup).

Immediately upon joining the group, you will be sent a MS-Word document of group-discovered tips. (Currently only 2, but hey, its a start.)

Posted by: DaBigBR

Phone is recalled due to software problems in certain markets.

Posted by: KevinJames

A Panasonic technical rep who is a member of my Yahoo Group (http:\\groups.yahoo.com\group\PanAllure) indicated the phone needed a firmware upgrade IF the owner was on SunCom, but there is nothing about a recall for any market or any carrier-network.

Posted by: Viz79

How is the vibration alert on the Allure? I always keep my phone on vibration alert. How does the Allure's vibration alert compare to the Nokia 3360? How does it compare to the Sanyo SCP-4000?

Posted by: superbear_76

the sound quality of this phone is a little tinny with the handset olone, but when you add the handsfree the quality in it seems to have a little more bass (more nokia like)

The features are far better to the nokia, except for the fact you have to use a cable to d/l ring tones.

I was able to put this phone in test mode and checked the reception quality on and off the ATTWS network and it outperformed my nokia 6162m which I had connected to an exterior antenna.

The battery was a lot to be desired off network, but on was not bad on the system.

Posted by: jacobrich

I have looked on the Panasonic website and also www.attws.com/accessories and I can't find one.

I have bought from this company twice and they are fast and very inexpensive.

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/wireles...press/info.html

Any no, I don't work there. Hope everyone has the same experiences I have had.

Example: Allure Car Charger $5.99 + $3.95 shipping
Nokia 3360 Car charger $5.99

If you purchase more than one item, they do not charge more shipping.

does anyone know how to download ring tones besides using a data cable? 'cos i heard u can use the e-mail to do it. any response is appreciated.

Posted by: blucific

this phone has been available in canada for a while thru Wireless Wave. u can check them out online at: www.mywirelesswave.com. it is rather expensive. they have several locations throughout toronto. also, in the most recent rogers at&t flyer in the most recent edition of the saturday star, the advertized the allure.

Posted by: JadeButterfly

I'm looking for the Panasonic Allure. Is there anyone who is willing to sell me theirs? I don't mind if its used. As long as its functional and is in good condition
I'm looking for the silver one.
Thanks in advance!

Posted by: jacky1976

Hi, I would like to sell my Allure to u.
How much u are willing to pay?

my email address is jackylau@rogers.com

thx

Jacky

Posted by: blucific

tubbie18 says that whenever u sell something U MUST post an asking price. u can't say "how much are u willing to pay" b/c that can lead to people being jipped. im not insinuating anything

Posted by: JadeButterfly

Yeah can you give me the price you are willing to sell it for. I am unaware of the orginal price.

Posted by: blucific

this should be in the buy/sell/trade forum, but i have known one to go for $200 CAD and the other for $225 CAD.

Posted by: JadeButterfly

yeah i've made a thread on the b/s/t but no one has replied. I really want this phone so I hope howard doesn't mind me posting a thread here as well

They sell this at Costco. Not sure of the price, but probably pretty good.

Posted by: lost_rebel

I have heard that a Carkit for both Allure and Versio is on the way! No spectacular details yet but as I understand it NO power booster . Also there is talk of an extended battery coming

Posted by: eimajuno

Throw it away, buy a motorola v60t.

Posted by: Nthach

The Allure is a well-built phone, that is also light, but the weak side is the call quality, it reminds me of a old Motorola MicroTAC brick phone.

Posted by: mobile boy

one reason maybe that panasonic doesn't make the phone itself. Matsushita makes panasonic phones.

Matsushita IS panasonic! You didn't know that?

Posted by: alpha tag

and why does this forum make the word "M A T S U **** A" become the word Matsu********a?

Posted by: lost_rebel

Is your complaint about the call quality or the audio quality of the speaker. If the later, then try using the handsfree earbud. It makes a world of difference. The speaker used in the allure was not a good choice, not too good at reproducing low tones but they are there, works great with the private handsfree speaker.
Also note, that the Allure/Versio was designed in the US but is being manufactured overseas but all under the Panasonic umbrella.

Posted by: mobile boy

alpha,

the name was copied and pasted and somehow matsu********a became something else. don't know why, but that's all. no big deal really.

peace.

Posted by: eimajuno

motorola and nokias only. throw it away.

Posted by: robinson_ns

The Panasonic TX-310 is a great phone, works well. Stylish look and 6 different background LED colors. The only weaknesses are it's speakerphone (it isn't very loud) and it's battery (it's not very big, so doesn't last as long as some others - would recommend a backup if you talk alot). Other than that the phone is terrific - great clarity!

Posted by: DUC

matsu****a is the ****z
hehe, i hope this word is not banned.

Posted by: Batman702

IMO, this phone is the pits. I love the size but have returned 3 of these. Keep thinking it's me but it is the phone. I have three accounts with AT&T so I know when I get the bad reception it is the phone since the other two phones work fine in the same location. The speaker phone I rate as a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10.
Battery life leaves a lot to be desire. Backlite is nice but only two colors really can been seen at night. IMO, this phone is way over price.

Posted by: Avironeur

Panasonic makes very interesting phones for sure however they all, with the exception of the Duramax, share horrid battery life and (Duramax included on this count) have very low speaker volumes. I tend to prefer Asian-style phones (Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Sanyo etc)) to the Nokia/Motorola/Ericsson offerings which unfortunately comprise the vast majority of TDMA phones leaving we TDMA users with only these ****azz Panasonics for some variety.

My wife needed a new phone and wanted a phone with tons of little things. She fell in love with the size and the multicolored backlighting. I thought it was a neat phone but never really appreciated it until this weekend.

I'm a musician and I picked up an Ericsson T60D on Friday. I was sitting here over the weekend entering in my own ring tones when the wife says, enter something for me, I hate all my ring tones.

The Allure has polyphonic ringtones so right off the bat I knew it would be tricker than the normal mono note entry that I'm used to. I figure out the editor which allows you to enter notes and rests from an 1/8th note to a full note with everything inbetween (including dotted notes and triplets). It has three octaves as well which is pretty standard for most phones.

OK, so I have the editor down fairly well. I pull out sheet music for Rush: The Trees. About 45 minutes later I have guitar, bass and vocal tracks manually entered into the phone.

I play her new ring tone..... WOW! I play my new ring tone on the Ericsson... BEEP BEEP BEEP, oh joy. I find out upon further reading, if you have the data cable for the Allure, you can download MIDI files directly to it!! (Sure would have been a lot easier than printed music and manual entering).

Ah well, she has AT&T, I have Cingular, and Cingular has no phones whatsoever with polyphonic ring tones. Perhaps a silly feature for many, but I'm hooked on writing ringtones for her phone now. I'm too stubborn to pay the $50 for a cable (nobody seems to have a generic one or knows the pinouts).

Posted by: lost_rebel

Rob,
I saw your post on yahoo as well. The data cable is not just a passive device. It is level shifting the RS-232 voltages as well. That fancy connector is also a non-standard connector, you just can not run out to radio shack and get it. Fortunately, it seems to be used on a few different Panasonic phones, not just the Allure/Versio.
I have to admire the ringtone work. It takes a lot of patience to do the polyphonic ringers especially since there are so many rules to composing ring tones for the allure. Not to many people have taken the time to create good ring tones for the few phones that support polyphonic synthesizers.
If you like the allure wait until the fall when Panasonic releases the GU-87. I believe it supports 16 simulataneous notes. Hopefully it will use the same data cable. Should be sweet.

Posted by: robr

It appeared the yahoo groups had died, good to know they're still being read . Thanks for the info on the cable, I wasn't aware there were some active bits to it. I figured I could order the connector from digikey if I could get the pinout. Hadn't heard anything about the Panasonic phone you mention, if it's TDMA, it may be in my future, I'll go check out phonescoop, thanks for the pointer.

Posted by: lost_rebel

Sorry, no the gu-87 will be a GSM phone. Both AT&T and Cingular are transitioning their networks over the next couple of years. With relatively few problems/complaints about the Allure. I would have loved to see a Panasonic follow-on that gave a new sleeker look, better batterylife, and better volume/tone quality in the speakers for the TDMA network. Ericsson and Nokia have really tee'd me off in the past with their customer support, granted I have not required support from Panasonic yet but maybe that says something by itself. Somewhere I saw a statistic that shows Pana returns are only 33% of the closest competitor so the products seem to be very robust and well manufactuered.
Currently, I have been trying to hack the phone to increase the volume of the speaker (must be a setting somewhere) but so far, no luck.

Posted by: robr

well, thanks for the info anyway (i search the web and found a bit about it). im aware at&t and cingular are both going GSM, but by the time it's to the point where it's done enough to be worth switching over to a GSM phone, I suspect the forthcoming panasonic will be ancient history .

PS, I'm sure you saw this in the Yahoo groups, but for anyone else who might be interested, here's the info for the Rush ring tone I mentioned previously:
