902 first charge- how long?

Hi Folks,

I got a Sharp 902 today! UK model but that's OK for now. At least I can get on and learn about it!

I can see in the manual for the 902 that it says a standard charge for the battery is 135 minutes.

But I still hear comments that a first charge should be 10 hours or 12 hours and different long times like that!

Any advice, and pointers to a reference source, from folk here is much appreciated!

Hi!

Sorry, for posting an extremely difficult question!

It got a long charge anyway. 4.00pm through til 9.00am.

I think battery memories etc are perhaps a thing of the past!

Maybe... I might be sending it back.

Email not working, etc....

Vodafone did not respond to 3 calls each lasting 30 minutes, last night.

They have no idea why I can even send email to my newly created address at ****@vodafone.net

So I am getting the feeling Vodacrap is a better name.

before you return the phone.. try the unlocking thing that was discussed in the other thread. try it and see if you can unlock it with the codes.
by the way, did you get another contract with the 902?

howing ! Hi!

I got the mail working well and sent lyrics from Yutaka Ozaki's song I love you, Ima dake ha kanashii, all in Kanji and Okurigana, and could see the Japanese.

I tried to post a photo here earlier but I had to keep reducing the size so the picture had become blurry!

I will take many photo's of the 902 later this evneing or tomorrow. Do you want me to reduce them to 800x600 because the originally files will be much much bigger!

I also got a 902 case from the Vodafione shop. It looks very good too, that is, if you are happy to use a case!

Yes, that is a nuisance!

I received an e-mail from Japan and can see the Kanji. I could also see in tests that I sent.

Using the Handset Manager, I have not been able to use Japanese in the 902's address book, but I sent across all of my Japanese address from my Palm Tungsten T3, with names and address is Kanji etc, and all Kanji and Okurigana can be seen in the address book!

I will take good photo's tomorrow and send....

But why can't I upload a large photo to here? Are the photo's hosted from a persons own internet site by pasting the url?

This is not ture afterall! As the entry is sent to the phone, Kanji can be seen.

For example do you want to add Kanji family name = given name to your address book?

Yes, I say but the Kanji doesn't display there....

Yes, just realised myself.... if I click on my link within your post, I can see it... but I guess their server is recognizing my pc....

no it won't be ok because that doesn't give an idea about the actual quality. If you are having problem with finding the host then let me know...I'll host the pics on my server.

I thought the 'zip file' was going to be difficult because I remember the old PK-Zip software! But I see it is so easy with Windows XP.

I took a series as you can see.

Just kept decreasing sizes.

NOTE! .... My efforts were not so good! Zip file opened but the piccies were poor and blurry because of my lack of steadiness!

Hi Ofiaich, would love to see pics of the 902's menus as well as it displaying a Japanese email. These kind of pics haven't been shown anywhere, and I would much prefer to see them rather than pictures taken with the 902's camera, as there's been plenty of pics taken with the 902's camera available all over the internet already...

Please be patient!!

I am still trying to get the email to work. Vodafone had a 3g failure at the weekend and I wasted a lot of time, trying to get the 902 working with mail.

I also work and other priorities...!

I will get pictures posted of the phone and menu's.... and also of what the phone can do...

I take piccies soon..
