Well, I've had it a week and it worked great. Today it started dropping calls and when I tried to power cycle it, it never came back on Took it back to my Sprint store and they're sold out of it. They gave me the A700 for the same price so I'm gonna give it a try I guess. Bummer!

Keep us posted and let us know how you like the Samsung. I had one for about two or three days but couldn't stand all the software bugs in it. I'm wondering if that phone is at least tolerable now. Since all these problems have popped up in the 7400 recently, I'm pondering making the switch to an MM-A700....

My 7400 is two months old now and I've logged 3300 minutes and transferred around 90mb to the handset and not had any issues at all. Not all of the 7400's are buggy.

Well, I've only had it for two days but observations I've made so far are:

-Camera is much better, even at 640x480. Flash is more powerful.
-Video doesn't have as many options and seems a bit lower in quality.
-No difference in reception and call quality. (so far)
-Multi-Media works the same but Vision was a bit faster on the 7400. One thing I like better is during multi-media playback sound comes out of the earpiece as well as the rear speaker, on the 7400 it only comes out of the rear.
-Battery seems to last longer by a few hours with heavy usage.
-No speaker phone but I really only used that when on hold so no loss for me.
-Ringtones don't sound as full but still sound great, especially the music ringers. I haven't noticed much distortion at high volume levels.
-I must admit to liking the Samsung UI better as well. It's just not quite as customizable of a phone as the 7400 i.e. Shortcuts link and Outer display. No big deal though for me.
-Construction wise it feels a little more solid and made from better plastics but the 7400 definitely isn't cheap feeling by any means.
-I don't use Ready Link so no loss there either.
-Screen looks nicer but once again too much of the screen is used up by time/date etc. I wish it was like the Sanyo where you can see the screensaver on the whole screen.
-Doesn't remember t9 for texting but it's actually one less button push from start to send on the A700 since the 7400 has no direct write text shortcut.
-Overall I'll probably stick with it since I'm a heavy moblogger and cam quality is important to me. I also like that I can view TA moblogs on the browser, I couldn't get them to come up on the 7400.

Not a bad phone at all.

Thanks for the rundown. I tried multimedia on the A700 when I had one (just after they came out) and I found lots of problems with multimedia stalling out and rebuffering. Not sure if it was a network issue or a phone problem, but it hasn't given me a moment's trouble on the MM-7400. My biggest complaint about the A700 was the lame browser Samsung stuck on it. Granted it is better than what they've put on previous models, but still has issues.

Regarding moblogs not coming up, I have no trouble looking at TextAmerica moblogs on the 7400. Just remember instead of userid.textamerica.com, go to userid.tamw.com so you get the WML version of their site.

No problem. You had browser problems? I actually like it better than the 7400's. I'm hopefully guessing the bugs have been fixed because I'm not noticing any problems at all. It buffered once when I was watching a mm newscast but the 7400 did that a couple times as well. I think it's more of a network issue. Hope yours continues to work well!

Glad to hear they fixed it. Enjoy!

I've had my 7400 exactly 3 days and I have had 37 dropped calls. The speakerphone goes in and out. I think I'm going to take it back and have it replaced. Or downgrade to an 8200 like my other phone.

Sorry to hear all that

I am now hyped over the 5600 , I saw the sanyo specs. This phone is the doo doo and I will be smelling it.

Sorry 7400 you're being replaced.
