Well I had asked a while back if anyone knew where I could get my P910 insured and didn't get any replies.

So for those that are interested, State Farm will insure it. I just got mine insured at $30 a year.

Now I can breathe easy.

Hmm.. Never thought about insuring any of my phones.. Didn't cross my mind actually. I figured that my phones have a 6 month shelf life anyway.

Is it really worth insuring a device with such a short shelflife despite its cost? Especially when there's a greater chance that one will purchase a more improved model within a years time then the possibility of having it damaged/stolen? I couldn't imagine my paying a company monthly just to keep a paper trail on my phone.

I'd imagine this would be benefitial only if the insurer can replace the item with a check equivalent to its original purchase price (not estimated current market value) and have a reasonable investigation turnaround time.

Well for me the P910 was pushing it. If I loose or break it I'd be really pissed.

You're right about replacing it frequently. I'm constantly changing phones but I'm going to be keeping this one for a while.

Placed it's value at 750 which is what I'd get if loose or break it.

So for me.. .it's worth it.

Do you call state farm for it or you do it through the website? which state farm you contacted? I don't know if they have something like this in NY.

I think they have it in all states because I checked online and found it but needed to call a local office for pricing.

It's called personal effects insurance or something like that.

I had to go in with a receipt and the phone. Guess they found it hard to believe I'd have a $750 phone. Not common in such a small town.
