Maybe if you stated what phone you are using and which version of PC Suite you are using someone might be able to help you.
I don't know for sure but it sounds like you are trying to change a file just by changing the name. Maybe you should try converting the file instead of renaming it. I know there are programs that can do that but don't know what they. Try googling mp3 to mid. What you are doing sounds kind of strange to me like renaming a vhs tape to dvd then trying to put it in a dvd player.

i have a nokia 3200 and my version of pc suite is 6.4.8 and i saw in one of the forums \using audacity to cut down the song, upload i as an mp3 but then renaming it as a midi, a friend mine did it and it for his phone (even though his phone doesn't support mp3's) but he used bitpim and my phone isn't on the list, and nokia pc suite won't recognize it as a .mid even though my computer does. Unless there is someway to use my phone with bitpim then i don't know. in regards to converting it i don't want the file in midi format i want it as an mp3, but i wanna do what my friend did and trick the phone into thinking it's a .mid

Hmmm what phone doesn your friend have? I don't think it is possible to do using tools you have.
Bitpim is used to only manipulate data. It can change your wallpaper, logo, add stuff to your phonebook, ect. I can not see how it will be able to add a feature that doesn't exist.
I see that the 3200 supports java. So it should be possible donwload a java mp3 to play the mp3s with.
Reading your message again I might of missunderstood something, Can you move the file onto to phone? Was that what you were trying to do with bitpim and pc suite. You should be able to do that with pc suite. The problem with pc suite is it knows you have a 3200 and it knows that mp3 are not supported. hmmm there is a program called oxygen phone manager that might let you move a mp3 to the phone. It is design for nokia phones.

i actually forgot the type of phone he has, but it doesn't support mp3 but he tricked his phone with bitpim, so i dunno how it worked, but i'll try the oxygen phone manager. thanks a lot for the replies
