Just got my kx1 cable from ebay, and wanted to know if the same rules applied as for the Slider. So far i can get PMD ringtones on my phone, but they start to get really choppy at the end if they are larger than 9 secs.
Also, tetris is listed in BitPM as a game on my phone but it doesn't show up under tools. Any ideas how to get it to work? I tried renaming it to doodler and it came up as tetris then worked as doodler.... so that won't work... Any help would be great!!!!

hey how does that data cable work...without the software can you put some ringtones onto your phone...i also have the SoHo...what else can you tell me
thanks

Well, so far the data cable works awesome, and it comes with version 2.2 which doesn't work with the soho. Version 3.2 will work. However, i am able to add midi ringtones to the /brew/media/snd/ringer folder and they play great. Have not had the chance to play with MP3's. All in all if you want to add your own ringers see my other post about the cable on ebay for $12.99.

once i get the cable...what do i do next...as in...plug it into the phone then what...how do you get the ringers off your PC onto the phone? do you have version 3.2 software...or are you using something else
thanks

First you go to kyocera's website and download the correct drivers for the correct cable. ( http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/soho-phone/drivers.htm ) The cable i bought was the TXDTA10044 (Driver link http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/sup...a_F_Windows.zip ).
I first plugged the cable into the computer, where it recognized it and wanted drivers. Then i plugged the cable into the headset port, fired up BitPim ( http://bitpim.sourceforge.net/ ) then went to file browser (because it won't read anything else on the phone). Next i browsed to /brew/media/snd/ringer, right clicked and clicked add new file. Then i selected my ringtone (in this case a midi file of Super Mario Bros.) waited for it to upload and checked under Menu, Settings, Sounds, Ring Type and it was there. Do not add it to the default folder under ringer.
One could also assume that you could store secret docs on your phone without them ever being discovered. You do have limited space however.

RE: Tetris
Check out my thread on enabling games with the Kyocera PST

The link to the KPST is in there too.

I got the files and i will try it tonight. I am really hoping it works for the KX1. It would be logical that they share some programming.

Anyone have the modem driver for this phone? The cable i bought came with Phone Desktop 2.4 and as we all know this version isn't compatible with the KX1. I might even be able to host the file.

hey i finally got the cable and bitpim reads my phone...now when i get to the brew/media/snd/ringer...folder do i add new ringer right there on ringer...or put it in the default with the rest of the ringers...also if i wanna delete a ringer i put in...should i delete from the phone or through bitpim when my phone is connected...

Abu,
Thanks for the link to the cable on eBay. Just bought one myself.. they went up a buck to $13.99 plus $3.00 shipping but $16.99 total for a data cable for such a new phone is a bargain period.
Will follow up on what all I find out about it.
Now I wished they'd get a move on with the faceplates for this phone. Only choices I've found is red, blue and purple and those are for the KX1.. I have the KX1i (see the difference in your avatar and mine).
Later...

let me know if i can help with anything

hey i too have the kxi or the vertical screen soho...my faceplate is navy blue, with a silver stripe in the middle...would like that black/silver plate...also abu, did you read my above post...where does the uploaded ringtone go...thanks for the help
Posted by: abuthemagician
the uploaded ringtone goes into the /brew/media/snd/ringer folder. It will not show up if you put it in the default folder, so just put it in the ringer folder.

The battery life on this phone sucks. Being new and all, there aren't any aftermarket extra life batteries out for it yet that I can find. Only the 1350 mAh (the one that comes with the phone is 700 mAh) direct from Kyocera for $49. Noticed it comes with a bigger battery cover door too. Should be interesting to see what it looks like with a "pot belly". haha

i will agree that the battery life leaves a lot to be desired

Ahh, I have KPD 3.2 now thanks to someone else on the forum.
It's a work-around..
You have to download a .reg file, install it, then download the KPD 3.2 updater file from Kyocera.
Anyone wanna host the reg file, I'll provide it and HERE is the direct link to Kyocera for KPD 3.2 -
Kyocera Phone Desktop Updater, version 3.2 (EXE, 13.2MB)
PLEASE NOTE if you do NOT have the Koi or SoHo, then this is not for YOU. KPD 3.2 is for the Koi and SoHo only - it will NOT recognize nor work with other Kyocera phones! THIS IS KYOCERA PHONE DESKTOP, NOT Kyocera Service Tools!

REVISED so you can get it NOW:
OK, I can't send the actual program but I got a work around which allowed me to get the KPD 3.2 directly from Kyocera's web site.
It's a registry file (.reg). When you download it, double click it and it will install into your computer's registry.
Then go to the SoHo page for Support and Downloads and download the KPD updater. Once it's downloaded to your computer, double click it and it will install KPD 3.2
You can get the registry file here...
(IE: right click, Save Target As - FireFox/Netscape: right click, Save Link As)
KPD registry file
NOTE: it's currently showing as a .txt file. ONCE YOU DOWNLOAD IT, rename it to a .reg file ! This is important! It won't work if you do not do this!
And you can get the KPD 3.2 updater (after you've installed the above registry file) here...
(IE: right click, Save Target As - FireFox/Netscape: right click, Save Link As)
Kyocera Phone Desktop Updater, version 3.2 (EXE, 13.2MB)
That's all there is to it!
REMEMBER, KPD 3.2 is for KOI and KX1/KX1i SOHO phones ONLY. It will not work with any other Kyocera phone as they aren't even in the drop down menu to choose!

Anyone have the modem driver? I have no other phone line at home...

Another thing. With the MSL reset i used the following:
Kyocera Wireless Phone Service Tools 3.6.65
http://cheyenneyouth.org/stage/PST_3.6.65_setup.rar
(Thanks to Hunt4m3x and wrlord)
and the KWC Games was already enabled. I am still playing with it to get Tetris working. Also anyone know how to make the thing display a GPS location or a program that will read it from the phone?
Here is another tool. May be the same as the one above
