I had the same problem at first, but I figured it out. I'm guessing that you have the sonyericsson software for your phone. When you open MY PHONES and then select z500a, an icon will appear that says PHONE MEMORY. Just drag the .jar file to that. It will transfer and once it's done, your phone will ask what folder to put it in, put it into games.

where are you finding games that actually work on this phone(z500a)? could someone please give me the step by step instructions on how to download games from my pc with a cable on to this phone? The best I have done so far is to get the game into a file called "others". From there, all it gives me is the option to email it to someone. I have searched this forum, but there doesn't seem to be much help for this model phone. I purchased a cd off of ebay for a few bucks that is supposedly filled with tons of themes and games and whatever, but I can not get anything to work off of it. All the themes seem to have corrupted files once I get them to the phone, and I have no idea as to what I am supposed to do with the game files. I guess I never realized that this would be such a problem. I went to a couple other sites and tried downloading their games, still no luck. Any help will be greatly appreciated..Thanks

first of all, to get some free games go to
wap.ranova.org
then go to the java section (use your PC internet browser not the phone internet browser)
any of the games will work. Just download the .jar files to your desktop.
Next, connect your phone and open up the phone browser provided by sonyericsson. an icon appears that says PHONE MEMORY, don't open it yet. Drag your downloaded .jar game file straight to the PHONE MEMORY. It will transfer and then your phone will ask what folder to put it in. Put it in the games folder and there you go. That's how you do it. If you have more questions just ask.
