It's a Kensington Bluetooth adapter that I recieved for a stocking stuffer last christmas, never had ANY problems on my Macs, or even on my PC before I had to reformat. I lost the CD, and kensington doesn't offer drivers, and windows sucks, soooo yeah. i need the drivers for my pc.....don't get me started on kensington's customer service....

Posted by: tekwiz99

did some reserch (or should i say, digging) in http://kensington.custhelp.com under topic "XP Hardware wizard error when installing BlueTooth dongle". it says the driver provider is MSI, so i went there~

http://www.msi.com.tw/program/suppo...23&CHIP=23&ID=8

fell free to try everything out, i think the last (latest) driverset is the one to go.

good luck

Hi all,

Do you guys know where can I download BCM1000-WCE bluetooth stack for pocketpc 2003 SE phone edition?

Thanks

Posted by: alpha tag

for connectivity issues, make sure you've set the BT on the computer end to the right com port

for drivers, definitely go widcomm... newest is version 5 now i believe

Posted by: tekwiz99

i'm trying to mod the inf file to see if the new driver works with my Linksys BT100.

Yeah. Do a google search for widcomm 5.0.1.801 - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Posted by: xux99

Here you can download Widcomm 5.0.1.801 bluetooth drivers.

Posted by: friedbrains

I just upgraded to that from 1.0 something (yeah a little outdated)
but now the BT tray just keeps saying "BT device not found"
It was working alright before the upgrade?!

What am I doing wrong?

ya i'm havin the same problem.. you'd think with how popular BT is getting. it would just work. but NO!!!... lol

Posted by: friedbrains

my drivers are widcomm v3.xx, i tried to upgrade to 4.xx but its a no go since it was asking for an authorization code, in which widcomm does not give, so on some upgrade is not an option... stick to what you have and you wont have any problem

Posted by: MrDSL

I have XP SP2 and I just downloaded the new widcomm 5 ver posted above and uninstalled anything bluetooth related and unplugged my usb dongle. Followed these instructions and just kept my device unplugged like it said and everything is working perfect so far..

Just what I was looking for, thanks!

It could be a couple of things...

It appears the BTWUSB.INF that comes with the Widcomm drivers do NOT always contain every PNP ID for EVERY Bluetooth dongle/card... example... a friend got a cheap no-named dongle. Its PNP Id is listed in the BTWUSB.INF that comes with the Widcomm v3.0.91x drivers, and Widcomm v5 drivers, BUT NOT in the BTWUSB.INF from the Widcomm v4.1x drivers!!

Also Widcomm drivers are LOCKED to the hardware id of the device via a LICENSE.DAT file... This means you are limited to using the driver version supplied from your hardware maker only!! i.e. you can't use The Belkin supplied Widcomm 1.4x drivers with a TDK Dongle even though TDK uses Widcomm drivers for their dongle.

It even means that the first Ambicom BT2000C-USB (early serial number range) I purchased can only use the Widcomm v1.37 drivers from Ambicom's web site, where as my more recently purchased Ambicom BT2000C-USB (recent serial number range) can use the Widcomm v3.0.915 drivers from Ambicom's page. Even though they are the SAME MODEL, the LICENSE.DAT included in Ambicom's v3.x driver doesn't allow them to be used with the older dongle.

You can google search to find a license hack to get around that... BUT that still wont add the PNP ID of your dongle to the BTWUSB.INF file. You would have to do that manually.

Posted by: oopl

Interesting, I have an older Belkin usb adaptor that I can't get working with V4 or V5. Where can I find this PNP ID?

its not quick.. but...

plug your dongle into your PC... then use regedit to look at HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB

There will be various Vid_xxxx&Pid_xxxx values listed there for ALL of your USB Devices that you have connected since Windows was installed... you have to go through EACH until you can identify the entry for your dongle.

Then you open the BTWUSB.INF and make an entry for it just like the others that are already there using that VID and PID...

And I'm going to assume since you want to know how to do this that you did NOT get the V4 or V5 drivers from your BT Device Maker so.... I have to remind you... even if you get that VID/PID combo correctly in the BTWUSB.INF, unless you can find/use the correct License Hack, you'll get an error message from the Widcomm bluetooth stack saying... "Your bluetooth software license does not include use with this Bluetooth device. [6]" and it wont work!!

I have a st microelectronics bt adapter that came with the IVT Bluesoiel or whatever software and it works just fine with the latest widcomm drivers. Now I will admit that during my searching I found many widcomm drivers from HP etc that would give me the license.dat file error. I tried patches and anything else I could find but still got the same error. Now when I downloaded the 5.0.1.801 drivers from above everything worked fine and I didn't need a patch or anything and my dongle definatly didn't come with anything widcomm. The key for me was

1.) Uninstalling any previous BT software and drivers.
2.) Unplug BT dongle and Reboot.
3.) Make sure all software and drivers are gone.
4.) Download and extract Widcomm 5.0.1.801 drivers from above.
5.) Open the folder and double-click the setup.exe file and start the install.
6.) It will probably tell you about unsigned drivers etc just click Ok.
7.) Now it will tell you to plug your BT dongle in. Do not plug it in just click cancel and continue the install.
8.) If it asks you to reboot after installation then do so.
9.) Plug BT dongle in and it should try and find the drivers for you.Let it and it should install the drivers for your device from the files that were extracted from the widcomm install..

I tried this 3 seperate times in the last 2 days and it has worked everytime and like I said I have an old dongle that came with IVT bluesoiel BT software and drivers. I can connect to my wifes v551 and tranfer mp3s,pics and video just fine.

Check where you unpacked those to prior to installing... does the SVCPACK folder contain... BTNeighborhood.dll, BTStackServer.exe, BTTRAY.EXE and wbtapi.dll?? If so, that is why you don't need the license hack as these are probably the already "hacked" versions...

Posted by: MrDSL

Yes I do have all them thanks for the info..Trying to do all the patching didn't work for me but I like the widcomm interface so much I just ordered a msi btoes 2.0 that comes with widcomm so I could get updates etc..

You wont get "legal" updates... well, unless MSI releases them for that dongle...

See my above post about my two ambicom dongles as a reference... Same holds true for ALL vendors using Widcomm...

Even Belkin hasn't released anything beyond 1.4x for their "older" dongles... Their F8T001_v2 for example still is only 1.4.2.10, their F8T001_v1 & F8T003_v1 are still on 1.2.2.16!! And while their F8T013 uses v4 drivers, their F8T009 still uses v3.0.912... But because of the license.dat lock down, you can forget about "newer" versions of the Widcomm drivers, unless you find/use the license hack

Widcomm drivers latest ones can be downloaded from here. Its much faster then megacrapupload.

NOTE: 1200's are not patched so wont install on all BT chips, except if yours is broadcom. 802's are patched and will work with any dongle.

That link doesn't work any longer. Did you ever get that dongle from LED shoppe to work? I got the same one in the mail today but I'm not successful connecting a service with BlueSoleil.

Posted by: effortless

I got that same adapter and it will bond with my E815, but it can't find any services. I tried the latest bluesoleil and widcomm.

Posted by: egruber

I'm having the same problem as Effortless. Has anyone figured this out? I can pair with the Moto E815, but it never connects to the phone...so I cannot get any services. I've tried two different E815s and no luck. BlueSoleil or Widcomm is the same result. No MS overrides in my device manager. Should I try a new dongle?

Posted by: dingmel

Hi there, I just downloaded the v5 widcomm stack posted above. my dongle is the BTA-6030 from cellink. the dongle works fine, except that when i try to use my bT headphones, they just won't connect. I'm using cellink's BTST 9000-A. the pairing was a success, its just that each time i try to esstablish a connection, i get error 0x81000015. could anyone pls shed some light for me. thanks in advance. BTW, how do i get the pan service activated? i can't seem to get PAN working.

Posted by: alpha tag

1200 is out, and patched maybe try those?

Posted by: crashnburn

I am having a similar problem. My HS 850 was working fine with my Toshiba BT Drivers on my Dell Inspiron 9300. Now with Widcomm 5 - 802 installed I can pair and connect to the HS 850, but I cant use it functionally for Voice Conference using Skype or any other app. How can I make it work?

BTW - Windows sound has 3 devices
- Soundcard - Sigmatel
- Bluetooth Audio
- Highqualit Bluetooth Audio

Tried all possible selections. No results.

I have the patched driver
but finally caused HUGE mess on my laptop!!!
1. I intend to use 2 different bt applications for 2 different adaptors (1 Toshiba and 1 Broadcom), the the patched killed my Toshiba driver, even System Restore don't help
2. how to say.....the driver window gets messy with grabled characters (I use English XP with full Trad Chinese support)
it took me almost 4 hours to cleanup the "patched" driver to bring Toshiba driver back to normal

i upgraded to 1200 (V5) now it won't even recognize my device. previously, in 801, my device registered (cellink BTA 6030) now, it keeps prompting me to plug in my bluetooth device. really weird... could anyone please shed some light on the issue for me? thanks a lot in advance. btw, i did a fresh install, no results. unistalled previous versions and rebooted, no luck.

Latest WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software 5.0.1.1200 download

Get the new Bluetooth drivers for Windows here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2RELBI65

...and the patch
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=D3PNIH7P

Afterwards, extract the files to the "svcpack" directory, and install as normal. In this way, there's no need to boot into safe mode and replace files. Enjoy.

This is latest version of WIDCOMM available. By using it, Internet will work on your mobile, almost like in the PC. Depends upon the quality of Bluetooth Adopter. The new WIDCOMM driver also enhances the Audio Quality. There are few other advantanges also in it.

Posted by: crashnburn

This still shows the 801.7z file

Posted by: mkool

Where is the Bluetooth Dongle Driver ver.5 ? I only can see the driver that came out on 2006-3-3.
From this page...I think version is V4 something. http://www.msi.com.tw/program/suppo...23&CHIP=23&ID=8

Posted by: mkool

How can I dowload that file??? Do I have to register?

They are available from your Bluetooth dongle maker... If they choose to use Widcomm drivers, rather than Bluesoliel, Toshiba, etc..

No, the Widcomm drivers are freeware. They are licensed based on the hardware serial number of your dongle. Because of that, they can't be interchanged... See Post #30 of this thread for more...

Check the dongle maker's web site.

If Ledshoppe didn't use Widcomm drivers, then I doubt you're going to see anyone post a step by step how to, and where to get the patch here... as it would be against the rules here at HowardForums...

There was a site which had a step-by-step how to... (not at HoFo) but Widcomm/Broadcomm made them take down the part about the license patcher as well as how to manually hex edit the files to remove the license check.

You can try googling licensepatcher and see what comes up
