Lets take a Poll - Which Bluetooth headsets are being used with the Treo 650

I am taking a poll as to which Bluetooth headset are being used with the treo 650. I am currently using a Moto HS-810 and the sound quality is really good. I have noticed that the treo does not have the best range.... it does help if while you using the headset to point the phones antenna toward the headset??? The problem with the HS-810 is that you have to press the headset button everytime you want to use the headset. I did purchase a Plantronics M2500 lastnight and it will stay connected between calls. There is just one major problem with the M2500, While driving the background/roadnoise to the person on the other end of the call is terrible. The moto HS-810 does not have this problem?? I made test calls while driving back to my company voicemail system for comparison. Currently debating on trying a SE HBH-300 or HBH-660 ??? What is everyone else using ?????

I've used the Scala-500 and the Moto HS-820. I have a wifi network at home and I've read that can cause interference with bluetooth headsets. I'm experiencing some interference, but I'm still doing some testing at home too, so we'll see.

Does your scala work well - mainly fighting background noise in the car? What about the cross body static ? I guess the scala stays connected ??? thanks Mike

My Scala 500 just arrived about two hours ago, so I don't have much experience with it yet. It seems to work fine - I had no trouble pairing it, and I was able to hear through it clearly and to speak through it clearly. It will be a while before I have enough experience with it to provide a meaningful review. But it's gotten good reviews elsewhere, and at its low price I figured it was worth a try. $35, no tax, free shipping from PC Mall.

I use the Plantronics M3500. It's pricey but it has great noise cancelling, great voice quality and you don't have to press the button to use it for calls-- it stays connected. I tested about 7 headsets with the GSM Treo 650 and call recipients like the Plantronics the best so far. The Scala 500 was pretty good but some call receipients on land lines said they could hear their own voice echo back.

HS-850

I'm actually not a big fan of the Scala-500. I bought it based on the TC review and everyone else on their thread. It's probably darn good based on it's price, but I guess that's not enough for me.

My favorite headset of all time is the Moto HS810. The reason I like it so much is the boom. You don't have to keep the headset on all the time so it saves battery life. Are you have to do is open it up, it connects quickly and you're ready to go.

I'm considering getting a headset that support the handsfree profile so the sound is automatically transferred to the headset, but we'll see.

I am currently using my HS-810 and it works.... but you do have to hit the button on the headset each time you want it to connect. I have noticed some cross body static when walking around, but the interesting thing is I never have any static in the car ???? I am guessing that all the surrounding metal somehow contains and focuses the signal ??? I also encountered this when I was using an SX66. The moto HS-810 sofar has the best noise cancelling !!!!! Plantronics M2500 was the pits even though it worked better in staying connect to the 650

I am using the Nextlink Bluespoon AX with the Treo 650. Works just fine. It actually sounds a little bit better than using the phone itself. I get a teenie tiny bit of compression on my end when I use just the handset, but with the Nextlink AX that seems to be gone, or at least I don't notice it so far.

Okay let me drop my dime, I use the Motorola HS850 and it works great. Since you can turn the headset off when not in use and then on when a call comes in, its wonderful. And yes, I usually have the boom on my headset closed and when my phone rings I check the caller id, open the boom and connected. The only thing I miss is the voice dialing that I had with my V600. I've purchased the voice dialing software and it works great both on speaker and with the wired headset. I'm waiting to see if someone will come up with a program to have voice dialing and MP3 playing received thru a bluetooth wireless connection. For the most part the 850 is great, has a longer battery life and the advanced noise reduction/cancellation feature. I'd say its the best thing out for wireless, and plus its casing is black goes well with the Vaja iVolution case I ordered.

So your HS-850 stays connected between calls? that would be great because I really like my moto 810

HBH-300 here.

Very pleased.

HBH-660. I like the tiny little screen - it displays the incoming caller ID number. Sound quality is decent, and so is range.

I will be using the free Bluetooth earpiece that Motorola sent me when I registered my purchase of the MPX220. Not sure of the model number.

I just got my Scala 500 that i oredered on Wed. So far this thing is great !!! I can use it with my Treo on my left side and the Scala on my right ear with no static !!! Have not tried it in the car yet but sound quality and volume are great $38 to your door !!!! The belt clip is a nice bonus.

Okay some details about my HS 850 headset:
· It does stay connected between calls, but since I can choose to power it down (close the boom), once the phone rings again opening the boom reconnects no codes or anything to input.
· The range is approximately 20-26 ft before it starts to get interference (static) and w/o having the phone pointed at my direction (happened while pumping gas, phone on the dashboard...I know, cell should be off, but it was so natural I forgot it was still on while I walked).
· The sound quality is great, even with the window open while driving and talking on the phone, noise is greatly reduced over my HS820.
· The only compliant, the voice dial with Bluetooth is not yet available, but I can flash over to in-coming calls by pressing the device phone button, just can't initiate the voice command.

20 to 26 foot range with a Treo 650 and no static?! That has to be a record!

Posted by: Jasonbishop73

HBH-200 with no problems! I can get about 25 feet away. I know because I left my treo in the living room and went to the garage while on the phone, no static!

Posted by: IEmHetep

LOL, not a record just a good headset, in your testing did you test the HS850? The majority of people I now see wearing the bluetooth headsets have the HS810/20. The 850 all around is a better headset from battery life to range, when using it with my V600 the 30ft advertised was actually possible (within line of sight).

Posted by: pdagal

That is good range for the Treo 650. I've tested about 9 headsets now (not the HS850 or any of the SE models though) and haven't seen that kind of range.

Anyone with the Treo 650 and the HS810...can you make voice dials out using your contacts?

Posted by: mikewired

You can make voice calls through the headset, but...... 1. hit the headset button to wake it up 2. hold the voice command button ans wait for "Say a command" **** this audio will not come from the headset, only the phone but your voice will travel from the headset to the phone. One way deal !!!! I have tried this many times and even taped up the microphone on the treo to make sure that it was the headset that picked up the command.
