How do you like it? Can you give me a quick review of how it compares to the other 7100's and the Treo??? Also, is the ATT plan better than the Cingular voice and data plan? Thanks.

Posted by: Nickganga

I can't right now, but later in the evening!

Ugh, No. I wish it did. I tried installing VeriChat but it won't work. Anyone have any ideas?

When I first opened the box and started using the 7100, the keyboard was a little alkward, but now it's like 2nd nature to me.

I see from your wonderful photos that its Cingular branded. Did you order it from AT&T NBO? Just curious if an order with AT&T NBO yeilded a device with Cingular branding. Not that it would not make sense since they are "supposed" to be merged.

It just makes me wonder exactly what it is that EAccess is selling. Their website shows an AT&T branded 7100g.

So Nick, how did you get your hands on yours? AT&T NBO?

Regards.

Posted by: CingularTDMA

Boy I hate it when I respond to my own post!!

However, I stand corrected. After closer inspection of the pics on the EAccess website, the 7100g they show doesn't have ANY branding.

They say its for AT&T but it lacks the little sticker on the lower portion of the device. I wonder what an actual 7100g from them will look like in terms of branding.

Regards.

just ordered mine from Eaccess with a Cingular contract, so it's a Cingular unit. Should be here tomorrow. The salsesperson said after they're experimenting, the 7100g works with both At&t and Cingular sim cards, and that it's unlocked and could work with a t-mobile sim as well.

Whats EAccess?

Does anyone know what the price would be without a contract?

Thanks

Mine is supposedly sitting on my front porch waiting for me!

Too bad I'm stuck in Boston until tomorrow -and with the coming storm maybe even later

To those who have been able to order:

Do you have a Cingular business number to contact?

I'm on Cingular my firm has an account rep. but he's apparently too busy to help me. He said I should call the 866-CINGULAR number and tell them which company I work for and they could sell be the BB 7100.

Well of course the regular tele-sales department has no idea what I'm talking about and just keeps telling me that the 7100 is on T-Mobile.

I tried an NBO phone number that was supposed to be Cingular but was told they could only deal with AT&T numbers.

HELP!

Nick,

thank you much for posting those pics, i think many of us have been satiated in the interim by them.

i see you also had the treo 650 - which is what i have now. going from the 650 keypad to the 7100, please comment this change:
- did u use the qwerty often on the 650?
- ease of transition

i know this is a tired subject, but as a 650 user, i would love to hear your feedback.

please let us know about battery life and menu speed as well!

many thanks,
dolo

Dolo,
I did use the QWERTY keyboard on the Treo650 frequently and I found that the keys were just too small. I have bigger thumbs and it was always very difficult to type, let alone make a phone call with the keypad. As far as this SureType Technology keyboard on the 7100, it is not that bad. I have made a couple of mistakes today, but I think probably by tomorrow evening I will be adjusted. The keys are large and nicely spaced apart. It's not bad at all, just a little different. Hope this helps.

Finally, it's on the RIM site. Anyone know how to actually order it through Cingular?

your feedback is welcomed in my book!

Thank you much for the feedback. no matter how many "continuous" innovations the 650 may have, at the end of the day (or the middle of the night) you just can not beat a blackberry when it comes to email.

thanks again!

One question.

I assume that the 7100 still will have a Pin# and a IMEI#?

That is the only way I can get corp email if I have those 2.

thanks

Yes, it does have both.

So how does the incoming audio measure up?

The last BB I owned, the 6280 on Cingular, was just okay. Had quite a bit of noticable noise or strange sounds.

Does the 7100g improve on this?

Posted by: Nickganga

Andy,
To tell you the truth, the quality is amazing. I had a 7290 in late December/early January and the sound quality of the 7100g is such an upgrade. Not to mention the included speakerphone. As far as the 850 buzz, no the 7100 doesn't do that either. Honestly, this phone could really be the wireless experience I was missing. PDA, E-mail, Phone & Web all in such a small, styling. and surprisingly light enclouse.

Hey Nick,
I have the Treo 650 and cant get into paypals site. Can you get into paypal with the 7100?

Posted by: Nickganga

Nope. I get "HTTP Error 500: Internal Server Error"

Posted by: bigdreamer11

Thanks for checking.

DAMNIT!!!
It say Error 18 with Treo and windows smartphones.
Anyone have any clue on how to get around this?

Posted by: KSUJace

It seems like all the sales reps in the Cingular stores don't have a clue about the new Blackberry ... I've called a couple asking when they are expecting it in stock and they all tell that only T-Mobile has this model.

Hopefully its released soon to the retail stores.

Posted by: Nickganga

I believe it is scheduled to be released to the retail store Monday or Tuesday. Chec out PhoneScoop beacuse I remember seeing a link there about when it was going to be available.

Posted by: T. Biggums

The stores are always the last to get new products. Right now, you can order it from the Cingular internet site, but only with a 2 year contract. I was told though that come tomorrow, you can order it through Cingular telesales with a 1 or 2 year contract, and maybe even without a contract. We'll see. My guess is that the Cingular stores will slowly begin to get these in over the next couple weeks.

Posted by: KSUJace

that makes sense... i'm going out of the country on Tuesday morning... I was hoping to get one before I left.

Looks like that is probably not going to be possible.

But the good thing is when I come back in early March the stores should then have them in stock.

Posted by: KSUJace

i got one today!

Posted by: Nickganga

Beautiful, isn't it You should download the Vodafone and O2 themes, they look so nice.

Posted by: mikegold

The screen on the 7100 is so much more vivid than on the 7290.

I'm really impressed with it. Just still getting used to the keyboard though. It's going to take a bit.

Posted by: KSUJace

The keyboard is going to take a while to get use to... but I'm sure after a week or so I'll be typing away just as fast as I was on my BB 6280.

I just got the O2 theme.. very nice (not branded) ... I'm not a big fan of having a branded Vodaphone or T-Mobile theme on mine.

I'm surprised Cingular wasn't more creative in creating a nice theme for their phone. They are just using the out of the box generic BB List theme.

The phone is great, I'm seeing much better battery life than the 7100t I had for a few weeks. I purchased mine from eaccess in Palatine, IL. Leaving for South East Asia tomorrow and wanted to have one before I left.

Very sweet phone / BB though.

Posted by: Nickganga

Yeah, I really love the O2 theme. It's unbranded and the theme looks really good on the 7100's screen. Personally, I hate the Tmo theme. It looks cheap and the icons look terrible. I'm going to delete it off my device.

I just ordered mine today from Cingular...it should arrive in 2-3 days.

I just got my 7100 yesterday. I'm finding this a little weird, but I can't seem to find the Blackberry Browser anywhere on this phone. The browser option goes straight to the mMode browser which doesn't allow you to change the content mode option from WML only to WML & HTML. Anybody else having this problem?

Thanks...

Posted by: Eric5273

I was under the impression that the browser that came on the 7100 series was the HTML browser. Is that wrong?

Posted by: j.2

Ungh, I got an SK2 for 200$ and this thing is 200$ from tmobile.

Posted by: verticl

I have been calling cingular on and off and no one knows anything. How can i get it from Cingular? Price is cheaper too.
