Can't play any uploaded midi or mp3s

Well, I've seen multiple posts on this but just can't quite seem to get it working so I'm hoping someone can either point me to another link or provide me the answer to this problem:

I am using BitPIM 0.726-1
I have an LG 6190

I am able to upload midi and mp3 files and they show up in the ringtone folder on the phone.

The problem is, when I try to play them, there is no sound.

If I go to Telus' website and download one of their ringtones, it plays fine.

What am I missing?

Well, apparently after spending an hour trying to figure out and finally posting the question online, I found the answer just a few minutes later.

In BitPIM, there is a tab at the top called Ringers.

Also, there is a tab called Filesystem.

The problem in my case is that I was trying to upload the ringtone in the "Ringers" folder.

What you need to do is to go into the Filesystem, click on the "usr" section at the bottom and then go into the "Ringtone" folder there.

You then need to Create a subdirectory (call it what you want it to show up as in the Ringtone folder on your phone).

Then right-click on the new folder you created and choose "New File". The file has to be called "body" (those 4 letters and nothing else) for it to work.

I don't know if that's how it works with other phones but it seems to work for this model.

Now, to figure out how to make the mp3s a little louder since the volume is very low on them even on the loudest setting on my phone.

You can use audacity or soundforge to edit the volume of your mp3's
