I think the 2.6 MB file took about 15 min. to transfer over to the phone due to the slow COM port. I'm about to send another MP3 over right now (about 2.7 MB in size), but I'll grab a bite to eat and maybe read a mag. as BitPim does its thing.
Thank you, HF!

I'm about to send another MP3 over right now (about 2.7 MB in size), but I'll grab a bite to eat and maybe read a mag. as BitPim does its thing.BTW, I've encoded my MP3s at 128 kbps, but maybe I should save them as 96 kbps. I'm debating this. Ideally, I should send over the same song and encode each one at various quality settings and see if I can hear the difference in quality via the speakers and headset. I also was able to transfer over a ringtone. No more paying VZW 25 cents per ringtone for that "privilege" anymore! Thank you, HF!

The headphones you can tell more of a diff, but it's not like theres much room to be fussy, if you want anything near 15-20 full songs. I'm downloading the new bitpim version, just so I can backup my address book, but I still also have to install QPST and see what else I can mod :P |

Originally posted by Future I was just checking out the post and noticed the ringer routine that is posted is kinda the long way of doing it. I just deleted the sound.dat file and uploaded all my ringers and rebooted the phone and they all appear and work. Lot easier then doing the overwrite method i think. Also walmart.com Music section there sound samples are the perfect format and length for great mp3 ringers for those of you who dont know. You can email yourself ringers too. Rename an mp3 or wav or whatever to .mid and email it to your10digitnumber@vzwpix.com it will cost you 25 cents each for pix usage if you dont have a plan. VX8000 is by far the best phone out on the market. I am in charge of the Verizon accounts at work and I get to try every model and the 6100 just plain sucks and the 7000 is decent but the 8000 is definitely the best. And for all you people that complain about its size. I think its more confortable that way, you dont fat finger keys and you got a much bigger clearer screen and sound and so on... If you hold it side by side with a 6100 there the same size besides the 6100 being rounded edges and not squared off like the 8000 so it aint much different. Had to get that out I cant see seeing all these people making the 8000 look out to be a giant brick or something. |

I've not tried it with QPST yet. I can use the file system method of saving *.jpg and *.3g2 movies to my computer. Unfortunately, so far, I have not been able to get my computer to play the 3g2 movies. But the pics are fine. -Frank |

Originally posted by Frank S No, it didn't. I have updated to 6.5.2. Someone suggested un-installing and reinstalling. Maybe I'll try that next. Question, is there any particular file name extension that I have to use? Anyway, if I open the player and chose to open the 3g2 file, it just says "could not open <filename.3g2> because this isn't a file that Quicktime understands". -Frank |

That makes things much better.

OK, that was lame.

Originally posted by lexluthor I installed 7.30 over 7.29, no problems. That should work fine. I also used the drivers that came with my cable. I updated to the drivers on the LG site. Changed someone of the naming around in my device manger, but all works fine. I'm a tinkerer though. I like to use the newest drivers, but if an older driver is working fine, probably no need to change. |

Originally posted by dahrailsin Yo bjafari, for the mp3 player option, you have to select "Play All" then select the repeat option. For the 25 sec. video hack yanksrock, it only works if you focus on a still moving object and it's rare that it goes past the 15 minute mark. |
|
Originally posted by lexluthor With the driver on my CD, there were a couple of times where an upload or download "stalled" and I had to close bitpim and reopen in. That hasn't happened yet with the new driver (I did use the old one a lot more though). Speed is about the same. |

Originally posted by beowulf7 I haven't tried this out, but I assume that the phone's camera can detect if what it's recording is in motion or not. So if you record something that's not moving, it maxes out at 15 sec. But w/ the "hack" if you record something that's moving, it can go for up to 25 sec. That's the way I interpret dahrailsin's statement. |
|
Originally posted by deeznuts2 It doesnt make a difference if there is something moving in the background or not, regardless of if the phone is set to 15 or 25 sec. The 25sec "hack" doesnt do squat except to display 25 on the screen instead of 15. The phone still stops after 15 seconds...try it out and you will see. |

Originally posted by PURESKILLZZZ Thats main problem . In my quest of learning as many phones as possible I have found out that those cables are the hardest to use . The cable has a driver for it self not a driver for the phone .. Then the software reconizes that cable only and the cable reconzes the phone ... Thats your problem .. I brought a few of those cables in the begining whne I first started and quickly learned they are pretty useless . That cable specifically is labeled will only work with datapilot and with a specific phone and you will stiill have issues .. Best cable for the 8000 is sold at verizon ... I have no issues with the cabkles from them with the 4400 / 6000 / 8000 phones .... So get that cabel and bitpim will work easy enought and once drivers are installed they go for all software you use .... So it should then work even easier with datapilot. If you look under mycomputer you should still see the phone/cable showing its there even when not connected ... Thast another reason y I dont like those cables .....
