A few nagging 7100t issues...

I just bought a 7100t and I am very happy with my purchase, but there are a few nagging issues I'd like to take care of:

- The built in AIM client is ok, but has one main problem: it wont be quiet! I prefer my phone to be seen, and not heard, and as such keep it on vibrate all the time. Unfortunately, the IM client insists on making the IM noise (and vibrating, as well) whenever it recieves an IM. It even does this when the quiet profile is selected. Can I do something with the built in client, or is there another client (preferably free) that I can use? Also, I just updated the firmware to 4.0, but it seems as if the IM client stays at 3.8, even after I followed the extra instructions to delete the old one. Is this normal?

- When there is a calendar event, I need it to vibrate more than just 3 times, which appears to be the max.

- Can anyone reccomend a good program I can use to keep track of my work and things thats easier to quickly jot something down in than calendar and tasks?

- I bought my phone second hand on ebay, and while I got a good deal, it has a few scratches on the screen. They are not that bad, and most of the time I dont notice them, but I'd like to do something about them if i can. Any reccomendations?

Any other software reccomendations would be appreciated. The BB 7100t platform is really spectacular and appears to have tons of potential.

usualy inside the profile you will find things like Phone, Messages, etc.. you should see one for your AIM Client that allows you to change the options when its the holster and when its out. Let me know if you can't see this.

Also there are other options, some free, some aren't. The best option is VeriChat which can be downloaded from http://www.pdaapps.com and i would recommend doing the OTA download which is the latest version (1.91b) at http://www.pdaapps.com/ota/VeriChat.jad.

also check out this thread: http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...hreadid=362762. scroll to the bottom of the first post and you will find a list of applications and opionions about each one!

that should get you started there. I wouldn't worry too much about the AIM Client version, it doesn't have to change if there were no changes.

have you tried using just memos? I can't imagine anything faster than tasks, just type and save...

maybe someone else could help out with this one..

what are the scratches like? have they dug into the glass. when you run your finger nail on them do you feel a groove or are they small surface scratches?

The OZ AIM client is an add on application and is not controlled by the normal Profiles for sounds, etc. It is noisy and you can't make it quiet. You may want to look at Verichat instead (please take note Verticl).

There is no way to get a calendar event to buzz/ring more than three times. Unfortunately there are no third party Calendar applications yet.

There are a couple of recommendations on getting out scratches - search here and on some of the other forums (RimRoad and BlackBerryClub) to see what others have done.

Sorry for the lack of great news and information...

I had some small scratches on my screen. I bought some of those clear screen protectors on eBay. When I installed one the scratches can no longer be seen ...
