Excellent news at last!

One more: Panasonic Mobile no longer exists in Europe. All the new models will come now directly from Japan... As we saw with this years models, they are all models already used in the Japanese Market...

Panasonic will be showcasing its first UMTS handset ths VS9...

?? X700 was developed in the USA. There is still software development in the UK, just no hardware design.
You are correct though, all overseas mobiles at the moment use the same design for outside plastics as domestic Japanese phones, so the looks are similar.

Posted by: mediumsliced

i for one can't wait to get my grubby little hands on either the VS7 or MX7.

this would be my first pana phone, so i guess i'd better lurk around this forum more to find out more about pana's user interface.

post here if anybody sees 'em on the market, ok?

Yep... I exclude the X700 from what I said...

arg, too bad there's no pricing or availability info yet

I can't decide if I should sell my 5 day old X700

Posted by: vasu

does the VS7 run Symbian? I figured since it has the better screen and better camera, etc that it'd be running Symbian, but it looks like not?

Posted by: schmoe

The press releases seem to indicate that the x700 and x800 are the only ones running Series 60. I plan to hang on to my x700 until someone releases a 3G Symbian phone that works on US and European frequencies =)

What about a new version of the G50/G51??

Well think it is the SC3 & A210

i dont want my phone to be only camera/screen capable: i say this because :

Other than the screen, camera and impressive slimness of the device, there's not much going on. This is a tri-band GSM phone with GPRS. It supports MP3 ringtones, but it doesn't appear to have a standalone MP3 player, and there's no removable memory. There's no Bluetooth either. Although the Panasonic VS3 has a WAP 2.0 browser, it doesn't seem to have an email client. There's one push auto-open and exchangeable covers though, if those sort of things are important to you.....this is from mobile gazette.....http://www.mobilegazette.com/coming-soon.htm

ok this few details maybe dont fit the right review of the phone..

but my reason of buying x700 was not just camera feature..

Ya I figured it out but they aren't small at all compared to the GD55/G51....
They are like every other phone on the market in term of size.

Are any of these phones coming to the U.S?

Panasonic VS7 has Bluetooth, Email Client, MP3 Ringtones but no expendable memory slot. It has everything you ask except the memory expansion. It would be complete if it had one...

You read the article of a person who never went to Cannes... Why do you believe him? I can write the same article based on the crappy public relations of Panasonic... and still be fake... The VS7 doesn't have the same specs as VS3... I got the news from a person who in fact used the phone in his own hands.

I'd get an X800 when it comes out, hopefully it will be a little better than the X700.

No need my friend.

I would just love it, if VS7 had memory expansion... It would be complete! Suxxx.

One more thing I found out...

The Greek representatives of Panasonic, have decided to import only the VS3 model in my country!!! NOT the X800, nor the VS7 or the other models... They say that the X700 didn;t sell as the expected, so they won't bring the X800...

In addition they say that VS3 and VS7 have few differences but large price difference so people here are goint to choose the VS3...!! How **** headed can some people be??? Forgive my language...

Posted by: mediumsliced

funny, for a phone with a megapix CCD cam, they don't have a mini-SD slot? that sounds weird, 'cos even the japanese P900i and the X700 had it.

Posted by: kaizoku_san

That's exactly what I was thinking. If the DoCoMo P900i has it, then why not this one? They'd better smarten up before releasing these things, no matter how far along they are.

We could easily take a vote now, and the number of people wanting to buy one of these phones would jump considerably if they had expandable memory.

No matter how much memory it has, even if it were somewhere around what a memory card holds, say.. 256MB - it's still so inconvenient. Hope they don't make the same mistake as the Samsung D500.

Posted by: The Joker

From the hundreds of pictures post in various sites these days, I saw one where the person was holding the VS7 side ways and I saw there a plastic cover on the left side of the phone. It was the same cover as the one our charger input has... But does indeed the VS7 have its charger input on the side? Not on the lower end?

If not, then there is something on the side of the phone...

Posted by: jboston511

I'm pretty sure the VS7 has expandable memory, with a 2mp camera it would have too. You couldn't take many pics without expandable memory, or have any mp3's on it.
And Joker, i'm thinking that thing on the side is the memory card from the pics i've seen,

.................................................. ...............................................

I understand your anger........but i know that when it hits market
I will find a way to buy that phone.........and hope that you will too.( i m sure that you will)

but my main doubt is :will this pana phone hit the market on the right date....without anny delay

None of these phones will by Symbian. So wallpapers and apps will be slim to non existant. Pana does not support their features well, nor do they publish the SDK so 3rd party can create them.

Posted by: panaDamir

Lost_rebel

I am amazed with some new info that you provide from time to time.....regards

panaDamir

Posted by: The Joker

But we know that they will not use Symbian. Pana already announced that only the X800 will use Symbian platform.

As for the applications, they will only be able to use certain Java applications as long as they are compatible with Java MIDP. They will also be able to have wallpapers in large numbers of course, that's easy ...

Now for the official NEWS:

There is no miniSD slot in any of the phones announced by Pana. ONLY the X800 has miniSD slot.

The VS3 is expected to hit shelves by April-May.
The VS7 by September.
The VS9 (a.k.a. Z800, 3G phone) by Christmas
The Axxx phones, (low end) will be available by April 2005.

Only the X800, VS7, and Panasonic P342i (i-mode handset) have Bluetooth.

They all have Email Clients, MP3 Support, but there was no info on the internal memory. The display is exceptional, breath taking for some of the journalists who where at Cannes.

The X800 has officialy 1.3MPixel camera.

All these are official quotes from a source beyond doubt.

Posted by: vasu

any news/updates on pricing/availability of the X800?

Posted by: jboston511

The VS7 DOES have memory expansion:

Posted by: uber0

It wouldn't make any sense for them to not put expandable memory on these phones unless they decide to put a harddrive on them
I'd much rather use a few extra millimeters and put a miniSD slot on there.

The user manual for X800 submitted to the FCC says specifically says VGA , cmos. 640x480 camera.
You can read it here.

Yep Sam, I know, I've read it.

But I remain with what I previously wrote... If I'm wrong it remains to be seen...

dude, i think you need to go reread the article. it says the VS7 has a memory expansion connector, not the actual slot itself.

edit: perhaps the M-R people refer to the slot as a connector, 'cos i just read some of their other articles. sorry!
