Palm III/Vx GPS Interface with i305

Does any one know if I can use the NMEA output to power a PalmIII or Vx with navigation software? I got a couple of these things sitting around from past uses and would like to use them for navigation. I have used my 305's NMEA with Microsoft streets and trips however I can't seem to find any pics online of people using it the iden phones with PDA's.......Also is the GPS in the Nextel phonesa true GPS or is it one of those watered down systems that needs cellular coverge to work?
