So......I was at work today and I see a friend using a treo 600 from Verizon. I tell him I am in the market for a 650. He says he has to stay with Verizon because of a corporate account. He tells me he called Verizon to find out when the 650 would be available and they told him they would not carry the 650. Instead, there is another version of the treo coming out soon and they are just going to carry that new model and not bother with the 650.

I never heard of any new model. I have Verizon now and was going to switch to Cingular. Anyone know what this guy is talking about??

even if true: "soon" in terms of P1 may mean another year or so. sure thing that they will launch another model, some day ... go for what there is in the market. best case is to wait over half a year for another model, worst case ... you know what I mean.

A few week after the lunch of Tro 650, there was a an electronic show some where in the east, and the then president of P1 announced that after 650 there wiil be other smartphone models from P1, but the 650 will be the high end.
You can look for the article on Treocentral.com
I'm sure P1 will eventually have a better model, but for now the top of the line is 650 at least t'ill the end of this year.

Rumors have a Verizon model adding an EVDO chipset. It would make sense, and I would expect a Verizon 650 to either be EVDO capable or not be released at all.

Don't count on EV-DO or a lower end Treo. It's all rumors at this point.
