Sorry, I have searched and searched for this and can't find an answer.

What is the difference between a level1 message and a regular message in the profile?

Level 1 messages are a "higher priority" message that you can set a different ringtone/alert for. You can customize them with filters so that certain senders are flagged as level 1 or PIN messages are.

Hope that helps

Thanks!

if a message is marked 'high priority' will it automatically be level1?

Also, where do I find the 'filters'?

Nope. Level 1 messages are whatever you designate as level 1 messages. Your filters are either accessed by logging in to your carrier's BWC site or in Redirector Settings in the Desktop Manager if you're on BES.

With T-Mobile's BWC filters I don't see any way to flag a message as Level 1 based on importance -- only via the message's headers. Desktop Manager, however, will. I wouldn't rely on someone's importance. in my experience, messages flagged as important rarely are...

What I have done is set BWC filters so that email directly from specific people sent directly to me are flagged as Level 1. This is because I have an email list subscription on the same email account and I don't want alerts for every single email that comes in. Regular messages don't vibrate or trigger an alert on my Blackberry but Level 1 messages do. Does that example make sense?

Yes.

And I dare say that it would qualify as one of the most helpful tips I've stumbled across! Thank you, kind briareus.
