BWC email filter question

If I set up the BWC to retrieve my emails from a certain POP3 account, can I filter the emails so I only get the ones I want to come to my Cingular 7290? Or do ALL of the emails in that certain email account have come to the handheld?

If you enter your pop3 address into BWC, then yes, it will transfer all emails that come to the inbox of the pop3 account to your bb. You can use filters in your pop3 account or in bwc to change this if necessary.

Thanks for the reply. How do I do this on BWC? I see the filtering options, but I want to filter an email account to allow forwarding of ONLY one person's email to be sent to my 7290.

It depends. You can do this from your pop3 account by having all other mail (except from said person) delivered to a seperate folder--this way, BWC should only pick up those emails. Alternatively, you can set BWC to automatically delete all incoming mail EXCEPT that from said person. Example:

Rule:
If all of these conditions are true: from |does not contain |(said person's email address)
Then do the following with the message:
(here you tell it what folder to move these messages too, as well as check the button that says do not forward messages to handheld)

Let me know if that makes sense.

You will have to keep in mind that all other messages from that pop3 address are still going to your BWC account, so you should enable permanent deletion or check the account on a regular basis to make sure its not getting too full.

Thanks for the detailed description. I will give it a try. Also, will the emails that are picked up by the BWC stay on the ISP server that it took the emails from? How often does the web client check for new emails? Thanks again for your help!

All emails will still be at your pop3 account the next time you access it. BWC polls pop3's every 15 minutes. Glad I could help.

I got the filters all set up now and everything works perfectly. I appreciate your help. One LAST question Is there anyway to toggle the web client email forwarding on and off... as to forward the emails to my Blackberry when I am away from my desk (turn it on) and not when I am back at the desk (turn it back off)? Or do I have to go in and delete the POP3 email address under "other email" when I am at the desk? Thanks again.

Only way to do it would be by logging in to BWC as you said. It is kind of annoying having the same emails show up on your pc as on your bb, but you'll adapt to it as you go along.
