Quality of the S66

Anyone know how the quality of the S66 is? I am looking for a second phone. I have never owned Siemans phone and was wondering if they are a good quality phone?

I had never had a Siemens either, but ordered the S66 online because it looked interesting, figuring I could return it before 30 days if I was disatisfied. I'm keeping it, though. It seems like a sturdy phone and has nice features. The menu-navigating isn't as intuitive as some other phones, but then again it's a business-oriented device and not really designed for fun.

It does allow a good deal of customization using your PC and the IrDA or Bluetooth connection. It transfers my address book and appointments nicely from Outlook. You can transfer your own midi ringtones easily, but using wav's requires some work (though I have figured that out, finally). If you look around the web you can find some free wallpapers and themes (search for S65, its European equilavent). It comes with some neat pre-loaded applications (language translator, cocktail manager, photo editor). I use reading glasses but I find the large screen easy enough to see without them (I don't even use the 'large font' option'). The call quality and signal strength has been very good.

The battery life could be better, though I've read that cutting down on the illumination helps a lot (it comes defaulted to 100%, which seems bright enough to read by). The MPM software comes with a backup/restore utility that doesn't work, and Siemens support says it's not supported (weird). The Bluetooth connection took some time to figure out, but now that I know what to do it works well (but I think should be faster).

I've yet to ever find a cellphone that does everything I would like, but this comes pretty close for the money. If you have any specific questions/concerns, please ask and I'll be glad to give my opinion.

I like the S66. I have now had it for 2 weeks and I really like the phone. I have bluetooth on my PC and my PDA, so I can import ringtones and wallpapers, as well as themes and skins through bluetooth without a cable. The menu is a little slow, but not like the t68i. Awesome features. Beautiful screen. Great camera when there is plenty of light. The memory card slot is cool too. Some glitches though. Called Siemens and waiting for a firmware upgrade.

Rating: 9 out of 10

About the camera: one thing I noticed is that the stored pictures are actually of much a higher quality than they appear. In low light, the image through the camera appears very dark and grainy, and when you snap the picture it freezes that same way. But if you don't delete it and go back into "My Pictures" and call up the jpg file, or transfer it to the PC, it's in reality much sharper than it at first looked to be.

Maybe a firmware upgrade can fix that.

This phone caught my attention the day it showed up on Cingular.com! I love my T616 & this phone reminds me alot of it. And now that its $99, I'm even more interested!

1. Can someone post pics taken with this phone?
2. Also, does it have the universal 2.5mm headset jack?

Thanks!

Can you tell me how you got the bluetooth working with MPM? I cannot figure it out. I turned on the serial COM port emulation in my bluetooth software, but MPM does not connect, although I managed to connect to other software (Siemens Mobile Control - SiMoCo).
Thanks.
